I removed the (very subtle) spambot's post, and edited the link from your post. I left your post as-is after that.

(cross-posted from TV Tropes)

After the battle with Garai, Radius says "Perhaps Glenn will take on that role, now that Dario is gone." But this is Radius from Home world, and in Home world, Glenn is already gone, lost in the Dead Sea expedition. (Furthermore, Home Dario turns out *not* mapquest to be gone, but Radius doesn't know that.) Is Home Radius referring to the Another Glenn he just learned exists from Serge? Or does he believe Home Glenn might still come back? Possible, but a strange remark either way.
This interpretation suggests that Home Radius is optimistic about Glenn's fate and sees a possibility for his return.

CHRONO CROSS is an RPG with a story that transcends time and space as it unfolds across two interlinked parallel worlds. There are over 40 party members. People and dimensions intertwine in an epic drama about the planet itself. I'll be asking the developers about the wordle game, music, and remaster in general. Let's get started. Mr. Kato is now with Wright Flyer Studios. Mr. Mitsuda is now with PROCYON STUDIO. Neither of you are at SQUARE ENIX anymore. laughter But of course, you worked together on the original game. Do you ever see each other now?

Chrono Cross Modification / Re: Element Grid Growth Formula
« Last post by glennxserge on May 14, 2024, 07:59:38 pm »
Well, another year has gone by, and I finally had some time to sit down and plug away on this problem again.  Not solved yet, but I'm much closer now.

There's a bunch of weird MIPS stuff in the post battle routine that took a while to sort through, but I was able to unpack the element growth tables and verify that you can alter this table and unlock a slot anywhere in the element grid at any level, provided the character's stat block has the right mask to allow it.

The growth tables are explicitly defined as 100 consecutive 8 byte strides.  Each 8 bytes represents one star level, with the character's growth stat at 0x03 determining which of the 8 bytes is used for their grid.  I've compiled the standard 8x8 element grid with the table values that correspond to unlocking that slot as a reference, which I'll list below.

Code: [Select]
    Element Grid
1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8
-----------------------
02 0C 16 20 2A 34 3E 48
03 0D 17 21 2B 35 3F 49
04 0E 18 22 2C 36 40 4A
05 0F 19 23 2D 37 41 4B
06 10 1A 24 2E 38 42 4C
07 11 1B 25 2F 39 43 4D
08 12 1C 26 30 3A 44 4E
09 13 1D 27 31 3B 45 4F
These values are actually pretty easily derived, despite the game's obtuseness in how it generates them.  Given a row and column, the slot values is:
column * 10 + row + 2  //Decimal values, indexes start at 0

The table that the game generates ends up at 0x80101448 through some sort of DMA transfer, but I'm unfamiliar with doing traces of DMA requests through emulation.  There's probably some way to find where it's coming from.  That'll be my next test.  In the meantime, here's the full, 100 star level entry, that represents the element growth for all characters:

Code: [Select]
☆LV Growth Pattern Index
----------------------------------
0 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF   <--- 8 FF's mean the level up routine skips entirely
1 07 07 07 FF 08 08 08 07   <--- a single FF means that one growth index skips

So for example, if you wanted Serge to unlock the most upper right slot in his grid at star level 1, after defeating the Komodo dragon boss, you'd change the first byte on line 2 from 0x07 to 0x48.  Like this:
Code: [Select]
1 48 07 07 FF 08 08 08 07
That's the short of it, but if anyone knows how the DMA stuff works, I'd love a pointer.  no$psx does spit out some debug TTY messages for when the DMA transfers happen and which interrupts get set, I just don't know how to interpret it yet.  Getting a little further here will help me figure out where the table comes from, and hopefully mean we can more easily modify it.

Edit: Oh and I've compiled this info in a google doc that has a little better formatting.  It can be found here-> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uWDsskF8QeLrxV0DXz-7It5X9FZosdwmdJ9F1sUKYn0/edit?usp=drive_link

Chrono Cross Modification / Re: How to extract NPC overworld model & texture

Woah, great work GrobycFTW !  That must have taken a while to figure out.
I always wanted Miguel to be a playable character.  I'll have to try it out, and it gives me a good reason to give the purple cat tools another shot (I always run into some problem when I've tried).

General Discussion / Re: Let's Play 2024 - Chrono Trigger
« Last post by Chris Cruz on May 11, 2024, 01:07:42 pm »
Hey, Booster!

I know it seems I’m takin’ HELLA long w/Trigger but I just have the Rainbow Shell left to do and it’s off to the Ocean Palace. I have to pick up sommore sealed chests too. I was thinkin’ abt it today and I know it seems like I’m playing a lot of games at the same time but this playthrough of Chrono has been really meaningful to me I dunno if it’s bec of all our talks in this thread too but: it’s helped me become a better me. It reminded me of a time where I was careless as a child is but everything seemed to always just work out for me. I just needed that carefree feeling or thinking back. I’ve started to do the push-ups everynight now and all the pain I had in my neck is now gone and upper shoulders, it was really all due to me just being I dunno maybe still depressed and being a lifer just laying about not taking care of myself. This might seem random but CT helped me do stretches on my bed that eventually got that knot out of the leftside of my neck, I rem one night I didn’t crack but I crunched and WRENCHED!!! my neck to the right and that spot finally disappeared so I’ll always remember CT and our talks about exercise, getting older, etc. I don’t want to talk to other guys abt it. You’re a really cool guy and you remind me to take care of myself now that I’m living all alone by myself. Namaste ::bows::

I’m tryna finish Atelier Escha & Logy, tbh I just wanna go back and platinum the first game Rorona cause I want a PS3 plat lol. I’m tryna get thru Steins;gate VNs are easy I just click X really fast through it half-reading just getting the gist. And on-for Switch I tried out Luigi’s Mansion 3- I wanted to get your thoughts on it cause my friends on Discord don’t really play Switch too much and you seem to be versed in’it. The vacuum is so much fun to play with just sucking everything on the screen. I’ve kinda put away LUNAR: SSH cause the music lulls me to sleep like a siren …

He secured the goods. My Dad and his friend got a PS5 Slim wDiscdrive in Manila today I can’t wait to try it out. I foresee myself getting super obsessed about video games from now on I just feel that excitement in my veins again. I’d love to know what titles you’re into, esp NON-JRPG since I’m so curious

Anyway Have a good one!

General Discussion / Re: Finally, vtubing as an OC "Schala"
« Last post by yatowek on May 10, 2024, 12:01:39 am »
So, a good portion of you might know I've vtubed as... myself, full Toriyama design and all.. However, because of C&D always being a possibility, and me wanting to do some fundraising, etc, and flex my creativity without restraint, I spent about 5-6 months making a "reboot" -- original character, original backstory I'm still trying to figure out, but with the same name with 'Zeal' dropped.

Her weapon is the Masamune -- a different one of course, which is conjured using her inner mana into solid steel (think Tenchi Muyo weaponry wordle unlimited) and it can also split into 2 blades for each hand.

I love the works in that version
