Oh, really now? That's quite interesting. You going to keep in touch with then it comes out (I'm worried because I know I won't)?

Quite frankly, who cares about "buggy ePSXe" when we have a much more advanced emulator called pSX. ;)

True... but competition drives advancement, as it were.

Which is exactly why Windows Vista is such a great product. Years of competition with MacOS and Linux have driven it to be the best it can be. And the music industry is a thing of beauty, with all that constant competition from rival labels and independent artists.

Well, for me there is no more competition on that. I mean, pSX emulation core is stunningly better than ePSXe's and I think you can't just release a single update to fill such a huge gap. ePSXe can be improved a lot, but first they have to get ridden of those stupid game hacks they've been using all these years, since the program looks more like a game emulator rather than a Psx emulator. :)

I use both on occasion as there are games that are mutually exclusive compatibility-wise, but yes I'd have to agree pSX has the better core and gui.  :)

But still epsxe has a better cheat engine for it...

Yes, and it's not a news. ePSXe 1.60 was released in 2003.

It's better because it has more features (including a debugger, which is very useful for hacking), it's all built in (i.e. no plug-ins are necessary) and, unlike ePSXe, it emulates the console instead of hacking a buggy core to run as many games as possible.

I've never used anything but ePSXe. My ignorance of pSX is absolutely enraging. >.<

Thanks for the "news" that actually isn't "news" at all, but yeah, thanks anyway. I'm so frickin happy I never have to deal with ePSXe's dumbass plug in problem anymore. =D

that goes for me. luckily ff7 is also for the Pc so if I want to mod it I don't have to worry about emulator problems

To add to what Gemini said, pSX also handles hacked versions of games (such as the Chrono Cross Magil Patch) way better than ePSXe. The one thing I like about ePSXe is that its savestates work very well with Agemo's VRAM Viewer (VRAM being that portion of game memory in which active graphics data are stored); I'm sure there's probably a way to get Agemo's VRAM Viewer to examine pSX savestates, I just haven't looked it up yet.
