Site Updates / Re: Noriko Mitose interview translated

Loved reading the interview. Through the years, I've realized just how much thought and effort has been put in the creation of Cross. It really makes you respect the people involved in making such a (wonderful) game. :)

Has anyone played through (and enjoyed) the FFXIII games?

I've been amazed at the complex story and plot twists, but most recently now, they had announced the next (and last) title in the series. I got to say it looks mighty interesting, if one has been following the story.

I have not fully understood why they've received such mixed reception, but they must be doing something right if they can afford to create another game from the ground up.

I really enjoyed FFXIII and its sequel despite all the hate and banter you'll hear. FFXIII is a linear game - there really isn't many options for backtracking and exploration for most of the game. You go from point A to point B on a map, watch a scene happen, then continue on your way. However, if you don't mind that aspect of the game (it didn't bother me that much) and enjoy a good storyline, characterization, the anesthetic appeal of stunning graphics, then I think you will end up liking the game. I think another problem with people's dislike for the game is that they compare it to the tried-and-true formula of past final fantasy games.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: *Your* Favorite Chrono Fan art

Thanks utunnels for the FATE image. I really like these fanart pictures, as there seems to be a shortage of good pictures of the games themselves.  :)

I can't say I follow the game charts in Japan, but I am glad that it took the number one spot.  Hopefully the game will have longevity, and will continue to sell loads.

Just saw those scans, and I just went through a trip down memory lane.  Chrono Trigger never really got boring for me, there just wasn't anything left to do once you get through all the endings and such.  I remember how I would just fly around on the epoch and listen to "The Wings of Time" song.

Anyways, I agree: Chrono Trigger + Portability = win! So from how Mitsuda was talking, it looks like the OST is being remade for the DS?

Polling / Re: If you could change Chrono Cross, how would you do it?

My first play through of CC was a mixture of disappointment and awe.  The disappointment being that the cast of Chrono Trigger hardly made an appearance throughout the game.  It didn't quite feel like a sequel.

Another aspect I would change is Harle.  I absolutely HATED how she left your party, and pretty much disappeared from the face of the earth after the defeat of the dragon god.  She was my favorite character. :(

I was really wanted a whole 3D graphical makeover.  But that aside, I would like more areas to be able to explore.  Some time periods just don't have many places to visit, which was a bummer.  A few more character techniques also wouldn't hurt. :)

All this surge of news is making me drool with joy! I don't want to place my expectations too high, but if all they are doing is adding extra features with upgraded graphics (this part is just my assumption), then how can it be worse? I just don't know if I can be patient enough for its release!

I actually like these enormous updates.  One of my fears is that Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross would eventually be one of the great and long-forgotten games.  But having these updates and comments from people like Mitsuda really makes me feel that these wonderful games are still alive and possibly have more to them in the future. :)

Also, I really love the fanart.  Great job!

Wow, this is a very interesting topic.  I agree with you that Chrono wouldn't be represented very well: he would just be the cool looking character with a sword and a couple of lightning magic.  And just as I was reading your post, I thought of Lucca being a very interesting character who utilized different artilleries in her techniques.

If I had to choose characters from Chrono Trigger, I would pick: Lucca and Robo.

From Cross: Harle (an overall interesting/mysterious character) and Pierre (hilarious).  :)

I agree with Amazon's MP3.  It's good quality music at an affordable price.

I just wish more online services offer more in terms of international music.  As far as I know, iTunes is the only service to provide Japanese music for download in the United States.  That includes Final Fantasy soundtracks that I would not mind purchasing except: 1) no Ipod and 2) my digital audio player is not AAC compatible.  While I will eventually purchase the albums I download, some of the CDs I want are ranging to almost $50 each.  Downloading the music through P2P is an easier way to acquire the music until I earn enough money to purchase it.

Polling / Re: 3/31/06 - Would you buy a console for a new Chrono game?
« on: September 26, 2007, 08:30:46 pm »
This question is very difficult for me to answer.  I've always preached to my friends about the value of a buck and the importance to spend things that are practical.  Yet to imagine myself in this scenario, I would definitely purchase a new console if it meant I could experience and new Chrono game.

Hey there.  My name's Raymond.  I'm a long time Chrono Trigger/Cross fan and have been lurking around these forums quite a lot.  I've only just registered an account, and decided to drop a hello to everyone.  :)
