RoxSilverFox, there is much to be said for using awesome artwork to inspire hackers to figure out whatever is needed to implement said artwork. "Sprite it, and they will come..."
In other words, if we've got a kickass Schala sprite set, I think a number of technical helpers would flock to dissecting sprite assembly. I think Geiger's NA Offset Guide has the sprite assembly data locations, so we're really just several hours' worth of experimenting away from figuring it out. In fact, I think someone already created a character sprite editor that allows the user to assign one player character's sprite assembly to another character, so at the very least the location of each player character's sprite assembly must be recorded somewhere.
Oooh, and jsondag2 has the tech editing covered. We could have Schala casting "Dreamless" in no time flat.
