Any particular reason you went with Fedora over, say, SuSe or Mandriva? How skilled were you with Linux before you made the change? Sorry if this is annoying, but I'm interested in using Linux, but I've been having bad luck with it, and I don't know anyone who can help walk me through stuff, and since one of the things that doesn't work is the internet...

I used Mandrivia (or rather Mandrake Linux) before.  Fedora Core is much better for installing new software.  I think SuSe or Fedora Core would both be good choices.

Have you ever tried to install Windows on a computer which wasn't factory installed?

Installing Linux is very easy.  Here are some references for Fedora:

http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/fedora-install-guide-en/fc4/
http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_core_4_installation_notes.html
http://www.fedoraforum.org/
http://www.fedorafaq.org

This issue is with some wireless networking cards or Windows software modems.  If you have a wireless router or dial-up internet, you might need to purchase a different wireless card or an external (real) modem.

Yes. I've installed Win2k several times, and SuSe 10 once. SuSe had by far and away the better installer, but it wouldn't recognize any of my nics, so it was useless to me.

I've dled and burned the Fedora Core 4 DVD, so I'll install it when I have time. Thanks for the links.

Might as well revive this sucker. Remember, your actual wallpaper is preferred. No one really cares about your icons.

Reno: Guess what? I'm getting laid right now. You just can't see it. Sucks to be you! :d

And Zeality, I was addicted to those same exact Cowboy Bebop wallpapers for years. Hell, I developed my (admittedly short-lived) love for Crosby, Stills, and Nash just from those Southern Cross lyrics.

Right now I don't have a back ground. I'd been using a picture of Zeal, but now I'm running a dual monitor setup so I'm on basic Windows blue. Anyone know where I can get some backgrounds designed for a dual monitor set up?

Well...if macs have some sort of Prnt Scrn that I don't know about, maybe I will...but I'm currently unaware of such handy functions, even on this nifty keyboard...I dunno of OSX offers that function.

You can almost pretend the blonde Turk is Elena. God, I can't take any more CSN after hearing "TEACH YER CHILDRUN" biweekly this summer at a winery. And no, in no way was that a high-brow affair or something with a cover charge, and neither do I drink. So to my Compendiumites, cast away your lavish fantasies of my spirited dalliance in alcohol!

If I had to pick two favorites, they'd be bigblueseapaper.jpg (Sometimes I feel like Superman; sometimes I'm just recuperating) and the one with the sunrise that takes place during the movie. I have no idea who the author is, but "Big Big Truck" sure knows how to convey the utter...melancholy apathy that besets Spike. That movie was surreal. I can't wait for the Trigun movie to be made; Vash sort of balances Spike out.
