General Discussion / Re: Earth Day
« on: April 24, 2009, 08:17:11 am »
However, what is far far better (and often cheaper) than standard produce (organic or otherwise) is locally-grown produce.

Which is why I said organic and/or local...and which is why starting in May the local farmers market starts up and there is a farm that is local AND organic and it will be glorious!  Cheap too.

It is a tough call sometimes.  We don't always pick one over the other.  Organic X from China vs. local X?...local wins but not always..  Organic X from US/Canada vs local?....organic wins but not always.  Sometimes neither win and we skip it.

Everything I listed is for my wife and I's long-term health more than it is to save the Earth, though I suppose it is a sideeffect.

We didn't do anything in particular yesterday but we always:

Buy organic and/or local produce, when possible
Avoid any and all prepared food products, when possible
Avoid items with fake fragrances, such as colognes/perfumes, air fresheners, deodorants etc
Avoid harsh cleaning agents such as bleach, normal soaps/detergents, oven cleaners, fluoridated toothpaste
Plant some veggies on our balcony, no chemical fertilizers or pesticides (I can see why pesticides are popular though...after the great Earwig balcony invasion of 2008)
Use biodegradable stuff when possible, dog poo bags, cat litter etc
Reuse bags
Walk (although...we don't have a car, so this doesn't really count since it is either walk or take the bus, and the bus runs regardless...)
recycle

Stuff we should do:  turn off computers, take shorter showers....can't think of anything else atm

until I can move and shoot.

That is a part of their charm.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Re: Serge = Magus

The very fact that the diary is signed with "Kid" in quotes implies that it's a nickname.

It is a nickname for "Echidna">>"Chid">>"Kid".  Thefore she is the mother of all monsters, thus the mother of lavos thus the mother of the Time Devourer.  And since Schala is Kid and Kid is Schala, Schala is the ultimate evil in the Chronoverse.

We see proof of this in CT:DS, where Schala is giving birth to the Dream Devourer, not merging with it.

Yeah, that's what they like after all, us NOT spending ridiculous amounts of money...V_V

That's what emulators are for.

In other news a new Fallout game has been announced. Fallout New Vegas. http://kotaku.com/5219584/new-fallout-announced

Yea, that was quite unexpected.  I'd assume they want to focus on the next Elder Scrolls.

We shall see how Obsidian handles it or rather how Beth lets Obsidian handle it...

When he got caught as you said, was it by police or the parents?  And how much E?

it's serge's mom and wazuki,

That would be like putting a picture of Lara and Taban at the end of Chrono Trigger.  It would make little, if any, sense.

General Discussion / Re: So... Do you dream?
« on: April 14, 2009, 08:15:18 am »
I have verbal and thought processes in my dreams.  As in sometimes dream-version-of-me actually thinks instead of speaks.

Does anyone else have that?

Yeah, you mean like nobody talks, or like you think instead of talk but everyone hears you anyway? I've had both before. Haven't noticed whether it's constant.
Or the more annoying instances where you think you talk but nobody seems to hear you, or you try to talk and don't have any voice.  Those sometimes end up with me trying harder and harder to be heard

I have had dreams where I talk but the words are incredibly hard to pronounce correctly and I can't manage to communicate properly.

That would be an interesting explanation for déjà vu.  Rather than just experiencing a similar/identical set of circumstances, it was because you dreamt of the future...or something of that nature.

He does appear nice sometimes. He tells you to search for the Guru of Time to revive Crono, even if you kill him at North Cape (he says it just before dying). If you don't kill him, this can be seen as an opportunist move, but why does he say it even if you kill him?

So you know what to do next in the game, whether you kill him or not.

Still playing FXII.  Balthier and Basch are probably the most memorable FF characters of all time, at least for me.  The game probably has some of the best voices I have heard in video games.

Yea, I haven't played either, so I don't know about the games directly...it was just the general tone of the post.  Something I feel that the average gamer tends to lean towards...which then leads to the companies wanting to push more and more games that are "all about killing guys and monsters " and staying away from those games that "just take too long to talk to everyone and stuff".

And I am not going to get into Fallout...other than there was plenty of talking in that game right along side the plenti'o killin'.

I felt overboard at the time.  It wasn't really directed at the two games he mentioned, just the general tone of "lol tew much tawkin, warez mai hed sh0t!>>!?  pewpew"
Not sure how fanboyish works into there though.
