General Discussion / Guess those Lyrics!
« on: December 17, 2007, 04:27:36 am »
I haven't seen a thread like this before, so I figured I would make one, could provide an interesting game, but the point is, if you know the song, you name it, from the top of your head, without using external sources, then you post lyrics to another song, and so on so forth

This is what I brought you, this you can keep.
This is what I brought you may forget me.
I promise to depart, just promise one thing.
Kiss my eyes, and lay me to sleep

This is what I brought you, this you can keep.
This is what I brought you may forget me
I promise you my heart, just promise to sing
Kiss my eyes, and lay me to sleep

Kiss my eyes, and lay me to sleep.

This is what I thought, I though you need me
This is what I thought, so think me naive.
I promise you a heart you'd promise to keep

Kiss my eyes, and lay me to sleep.  x3

General Discussion / Deafness
« on: June 24, 2007, 06:08:46 am »
I don't think this could have come at a worse time, I was talking to my boyfriend, then we hang up, I walk to the kitchen to get something to drink, and pop.

I'm now half deaf in my left ear ( In windows, I have my right ear set to 42%, and my left ear set to 100%, and it sounds balanced. ), and I couldn't possible have much of a worse day.

General Discussion / Next years marching season for WHHS
« on: May 17, 2007, 12:37:09 am »
Well, the year is coming to an end for us school-goers, and next year's marching season is beginning to be planned.

2 years ago, we did selections from The Beetles
Last year we did selections from Phantom of the Opera, this would be the main theme:

'
This year, we did selections from King Kong, Opener, Beautiful, and Finale are the names of the pieces:

http://www.halleonard.com/common/audio/03745183.mp3

And, the director of our band is choosing pieces for next year, this one being a candidate which will most likely end up in our show:

( This is from the NCAA )

But, after browsing the site, I found many pieces which would defiantly beat all of these in terms of crowd pleasers, sopme, cool, others, old, and some plain funny..

Micheal Jackson - Thriller:

Ain't No Mountain High Enough:

Stacy's Mom:

Metallica - Enter Sandman:

Get Ready For This - (Personal Favorite):

Born To Be Wild:

Star Wars:
http://www.halleonard.com/common/audio/03744337.mp3

(ROFL) Sponge Bob:
http://www.halleonard.com/common/audio/03745007.mp3

Crazy Train:
http://www.halleonard.com/common/audio/02500574.mp3

After browsing the site and finding a lot of wonderful pieces, I can't help but wonder, some things just aren't good crowd pleasers, while others, are just plain awesome songs.
I can't help but wonder why he chooses the things he does.
I can see it it terms of talent, challenging us, so we would play our best, but at the same time, the people of the band wouldn't want to try as hard for something that isn't pleasing.  If it were something that they would recognize, I'm sure that the members would make an attempt to play it better, and with bettter skill.

General Discussion / Microsoft Virtual PC 2007
« on: May 06, 2007, 09:32:40 pm »
I just found this interesting tool, and decided to install Windows 2000 in this virtual environment.

I have thought of many various uses in the few hours I have possessed this.

It could be used to test software, testing new operating systems. ( I will use this to test Vista as soon as I get it )
and since it is a virtual machine, everything that happens in it stays secluded in itself, meaning, that if you catch a virus or any other harmful material, it stays in the virtual machine.
Think of it as a "Containment Field"

At the same time, there are downsides to this as well..

You can adjest how much RAM it has based on what your system has, I have 782 MB of ram, and I set the Virtual PC to 512 ( For testing Vista sometime ).

just Google up Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and have fun.

( This does not compe preinstalled with any OS, meaning, you will have to have an bootable ISO or a Bootable Windows install disk to install anything on this. )
It also supports other operating systems that arent Windows, but I have never tested it.

Anyone else here have any experience with this interesting bit of software?

General Discussion / Western Heights Band Contest
« on: April 13, 2007, 07:38:30 am »
I attend Western Heights High School in the southwest area of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, which of course, is in the United States.

Now, on Wednesday, April 11 we had a band contest.

For our performance of the music we rehearsed, we got a 3  ( 1 being the best, and a 5 being the worst. )

And for our Sight Reading portion, we recieved a 1, and a very nice plaque to go with it.

I would like to share the recording of our performance.

I would be 3rd chair Cornet part in Chorale and Alleluia, and 2nd chair Trumpet in March Grandioso, which both parts happen to have a number of Solis, and one solo.

"Chorale and Alleluia"

"March Grandioso"

General Discussion / Damn Microsoft Windows
« on: March 15, 2007, 08:12:25 am »
Apparently my HDD failed, but I cannot install XP as they key for it is outdated, and activation will cause windows to cease working after 30 days.
I could buy a new product key for $100 or so, but that would be investing into the fact I paid $100 for this copy of windows a year ago.

Now, I have Windows 2000 installed on a PC thats Vista - Ready..

god-damn you microsoft!

This was made from the very same MIDI that was used to make th Corridors of Time theme from the Chrono Resurection Remake.

I altered it a bit, not only Instumental, but also some minor rythms.  I also, doubled the length.

Anyways, Here is the file
