It's apparently the anniversary of when Jimi Hendrix recorded his version of Bob Dylan's All Along the Watchtower, which ends with that, "And the wind began to howl" and also includes a bit that goes, "Princes kept the view". What with Ted Woosley putting in rockstars Flea & Slash, I wonder if the famous Black Wind quotes weren't at least partially inspired by Dylan....

Welcome / Birthday / Seeya! Forum / The Backasaurus?
« on: June 03, 2016, 11:51:19 am »
So, where was I...? Honestly, I have no idea. Years ago I was a depressed sad sack of shit. My gf dumped me for not getting a job and I put a lonesome suicide attempt or two under my belt.

:picardno

Still don't have a job, but my now gf is supportive and we help each other (and her family we share living space with).

Anyways, it turns out I'm one of those people who's terrible at keeping in touch with friends/family when I'm in a relationship. My best friend at the time of the breakup was going through the passing of his father and my new relationship had me move across country (I'm living it up in Florida now), so even we grew apart (though I spoke to him briefly on FB recently).

As for gaming & the forum...idk, Square changing so dramatically over the years (from talent leaving to form their own teams, director changes, their legal team throwing out all them C&D's to fan projects and just in general leaving turn-based behind) really made me lose hope for anything Chrono (at this point I think I'd prefer they hand the license over to some other dev to do something with). Also, when I moved I got a 360 and still play it quite a bit even now that its "last gen". gt: "V Translanka"...haven't emulated much of anything (had a GBA emu up on my iPad for a while), but did finally get my first Nintendo handheld since my old v1.2 (Play It Loud!) original Gameboy: a New 3DS! Only have Pokemon X (sad that they can't make it play GBA games properly), but whatever, I do enjoy glassesless 3D...my Friend Code: 3196 - 7071 - 0573

I don't know how active I'll be here, but there ya go...

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / SE: Do fans want Chrono toys?
« on: February 26, 2011, 12:44:31 am »
In an interview at Toy Fair with merchandise coordinator Patrick Lofstrom...

...But one property we wanted to see more of -- Chrono Trigger. The set of four 4-inch Formation Arts figures -- which featured Crono, Frog, Magus, Robo, Lucca and Ayla in detailed dioramas -- were a big hit and sold out instantly.

“Personally, Chrono Trigger is one of my favorites, so it’s definitely an interest of mine to push for [more toys],” said Lofstrom. However, because there were so many different people involved in that project, and it’s an older game, he said it’s really up to the fans to let Square Enix know that they want more of them. “There’s always a chance but nothing definite... But I think if there is enough demand, the sky’s the limit.”

I consider it a direct challenge to the Chrono community, what about you?

I was originally going to title this, "Go out & do something awesome...on me." as if doing something awesome had some predetermined cost and that I would take said imaginary bill for you. But the more I stared at the sentence it dawned on me that perhaps there was a better way to put it (I also seemed to have reversed the message's tone from that of benefactor to scoundrel, ha-HA~!)...anyways, it's my birthday today, hooray~! 26 is older than I recall ever thinking I'd get, but to be honest, I never really thought about it...maybe that means I'm getting older...oh, wait, everyone is always getting older. I think I learned that in Chrono Trigger...

I'm excited about getting Halo: Reach and Mass Effect 2 (even though I still want to play ME once or twice because I know I won't want to after...)...Overall great birthday.

According to Guinness, who apparently now decides greatness in the same way that GameFAQs does (via poll), the "Chrono Trigger" franchise is 37th.

It's also odd that WoW isn't a part of the Warcraft franchise (even though I was glad they didn't call it the "Metal Gear Solid" series) and funny that Final Fantasy is beat out (by one spot) by Kingdom Hearts...>_>

Submissions / Hot Lead (short Lucca fanfic)

EDIT: This is done now! WHEEEEEEEEEEEE~!!

I started this wanting to make a really rough, knock-down, drag-out sort of action-packed story (something really dark and sort of noirish, drawing inspiration from Flash Of Green's awesome Lucca fanart *WHICH TOOK ME FOREVER TO FIND, BTW*) about Lucca busting Crono out of jail...and while the main setting is still sort of revolving around that same time, while I was writing I decided to take a different path and am gonna tell about Lucca & Crono's first meeting instead (I couldn't give up that title though)...Anyways, it's almost done, really (I don't plan on following her throughout the raid on the jail or anything, maybe some other time), but I thought I'd share what I had so far as a little kind of "Welcome back, Compendium!" sorta thing, hope you enjoy.

Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / "Completionist Secrets"
« on: August 06, 2009, 02:15:55 am »
I was Googling myself a while ago and ran across this...

http://www.rivermanmedia.com/game-strategies/55-chrono-trigger-ds-completionist-secrets#yvComment

Apparently it's from some member here. I seem to recall someone talking about a few of  these things a while back (defeating things you aren't necessarily supposed to, anyways). I don't think I noticed much I didn't already know except for the part about the Silver Points, though.

Someone I talk to online is going through CC and just got Frog Prince and I asked if they got this scene because I know that quite a few people miss it (which is a damn shame because its one of CC's redeeming character development-filled scenes)...Well, anyways, I forget, but can someone fill me in on what the activation is for the scene? I had no idea how to search for it...V_V

Don't get excited, bub. Square-Enix recently updated their Members section with the ability to make fancy 3D avatars, MyPages (hello another FaceSpace!) and Groups (each member can make up to 3)...Well, I made one for the Compendium...They aren't really fancy or anything, just a place to put a note and then forums...Currently I've just made a handful of generic threads...I still needs a Sub-Leader, but I'd like it if it was someone who would actually go to the site on a continual basis (I already do) as you have to approve requests as you go (no auto-function...it's pretty bare bones, tbh)...

I think the main reason for this, unlike the Facebook & MySpace (etc) Groups (I'm still sorry about how lame the MySpace one I made is), is that it'll be able to act as an official outlet for getting the news out to Chrono fans about certain things when they come out *wink wink* C *nudge nudge* E...say no more, say no more...

Square-Enix's The Chrono Compendium

The KH Group is up to like 300+ members! I think the Chrono community looks small because like 5 people made Groups for it, but hardly anyone actually talks in them...Let's strive to get to that 999 member cap...!! That'll show Square, right?

General Discussion / AIM/MSN/Yahoo/IRC Chat
« on: February 19, 2009, 02:14:19 am »
I've been thinking about this for a while, but until (POSSIBLY) a chat/shoutbox is implemented into the Compendium, I figure we could have group chats via one (or more than one) messenger chat (I know some people have already done this, but I figure we might as well make a thread for one)...

So, if you wanna be involved (& because I'm too lazy to check everyone's individual forum profile), leave your info in this chat...or, if you want me to add you anonymously, I suppose you can PM me (in MSN chats you can talk w/o people adding you)...

Now, with AIM I know you can just make a chat that anyone can get in as long as they know the name, right? So how about "Chrono Chat" or something? To enter, I've found that you can just right click on your own name, go to Chat->Buddy Chat and then change the name of the chat. That way you won't even have to add anyone on AIM, really (if you don't want)...

I only have AIM & MSN (I refuse to refer to it as "Windows Live Messenger") myself (they're the most popularly used, right?), but I guess someone else could set up a separate chat for one of the other messengers...

AIM: spr c001
(those are zer0s)
MSN: spr_c001@hotmail.com

EDIT: I found out recently that you can add Yahoo! names to w/e version of MSN I'm running...I currently have NO IDEA if adding a Yahoo! name to a group convo would work or not, but if you've got one you can at the very least chat with me, isn't that enough? Anyways, add your Yahoo! if you've got 'em and we can find out what works together I guess (I didn't intend for that to sound as gay as it sounds...>_>)...

Also, Ramsus just set up the IRC, which can be found over here - http://irc.chronocompendium.com/

http://irc.chronocompendium.com/help.html

NickServ and ChanServ are now set up with the IRC server. To register a name with NickServ, use the following command:

/msg NickServ REGISTER yourpassword youremail@address

From then on you can use "/msg NickServ identify yourpassword" after signing in with your nickname to maintain control over it.
