So. Thor.... is actually a good movie. Kinda.
I mean, they Miss the Point pretty spectacularly on several matters from a Norse myth standpoint and the armor CG lens-flared all to hell, but it was roaringly superhero-epic. And damned if it wasn't pretty awesome to see the scale and grandeur of Asgard. I am relentlessly picky about portrayals of Odin in particular and this isn't him at his best, but Anthony Hopkins was perfectly competent at it and it was pretty awe-inspiring to see the one-eyed king be his rockstar self. They even got a bit of Loki down, though they felt the need to explain away his Loki-ness with a really silly "this is why I'm eeeevil" explanation.
I have a few more philosophical quibbles along those lines, but they really aren't that important.
(Of course it's based on Marvel and not myth really, but that's why I saw it, hence that angle. I can't attest to its relationship with the comics.)
So yes. Flaws aside, I uh.
Keep daydreaming about battling frost giants at work.
So I guess the movie did its job!
