New CC Rank Icons

Some examples, from left to right:

1. New Magical Dreamers icon - png32 (IE6 or lower may have problem to display them).
2. New Magical Dreamers icon - png32, higher contrast
3. New Magical Dreamers icon - gif (will have white borders if the background is a dark color).
4. Magical Dreamers icon currently in use.
5. Guardian icon.

Hrm.  Of the three you made, #2 looks the best.  However, all of them are more faded and less detailed than the larger icon currently in use.  Overall, I'd say your depiction of the male looks better, while your depiction of the female looks worse.  I definitely agree that the current CC icons are tacky.

An interesting note here is that the first round of CC icons were screencaps of models in their "T" poses with no animation applied, whereas utunnels's new versions probably have in-game animation applied to them. At least, I think. So the new ones should look more natural all things considered.

I wonder how the new ones would look if they were 57x54 instead of the smaller 58x47?

Yeah, it is a bit hard to render a small image -- the edges are annoying.

BTW I'm using their overworld models instead of  battle models, in order to make their heads bigger.

Oh wow, the newest Magical Dreamer icons look pretty...shall I say, "rockin'"? They benefit a lot from the extra detail IMO!

This time I rendered them in 4x size without AA and scaled them down in photoshop. So they were not as 'faded' as before.

Haha, I hate to give you work...but if you could, I guess we should finally finish the rank icons with this new system.

IIRC, there's a Kid model in hospital gown, doesn't it look the same as the TD Schala?

BTW, as for Neofio, I'm surprised it looks so cartoonish after rendered, just like a 2D artwork.

Hm, Kid in the hospital gown works fine.

As for Mel...I guess most people just hate Mel but like Orlha. It was hard to find a character at all for that rank, to be honest :/ I tried to think of a Termina NPC...

I'm with you there...  I hardly used the character.  I can't even remember if they're a boy or girl.

I agree with you utunnels, NeoFio looks better from the back.  You're doing a fantastic job.

I also vote Orlha over Mel for Artist of Termina because it is true, most people can't stand Mel.

Guile does look a bit silly and Magil looks better, but would it make sense to put Magil instead?  I admit, I haven't had a chance yet to play RD and know little of the plotline, but Time Devourer!Schala and Magil are from two different games.

Which brings me to another point...we don't have any RD rank icons.  Any particular reason for that?  <---  Question for those in charge of choosing icons, not for you utunnels.

And I totally agree with you about liking quiet children.
