This is the flaw with almost every anime, every video game, and many comic book movies. Let's take something popular. Okay, that's good. Take the standard villain and hero, and apply to them the usual story. Believe it or not the mario Bros. movie failed this early on, this movie will be better than that. After that they decide they need to change a few things. That's where practically every one of these kind of movies fail. Let's take out the animals because people don't want to see something like Scooby-Doo, I'm guessing. Let's also not do the whole blue hair thing. Goku has got to be older as well since we can't find any child stars that could look like him. Of course, they can't even get an adult star that looks like him. So basically the way I see it, they dare to take on a big project like this, and then they chicken out on every single part that makes it a difficult task and what could possibly make it a really successful movie. It's either take a risk and you'll have A-Crap movie or B-Awesome movie: or you can take the easy and safe route and have A-Crap movie or B-Movie that is so bad you'll have the same reputation as movies like Disaster Movie.
At least they're getting Piccolo right. From the sounds of things, I'd imagine he knows even more about the series than the people making this movie.
