Casino Royale (spoilers)
« on: November 18, 2006, 12:20:31 am »
I was impressed with the film. I could easily see Timothy Dalton's portrayals being a continuation of the man Daniel Craig sets up. The entire film works towards the climax at the end, which is...breathtaking. The entire movie is about character development, and it works. And all the necessary bits are present -- the luxury, the roughness, the killing, the martinis.

My only complaints are that the title sequence didn't have naked woman cavorting in surreal pools of water and that Chris Cornell's "You Know my Name" still sort of lacks the class of the female spy-themes of yore.

But this is a good movie. And now something for the peanut gallery:

If you aren't a fan of Bond, and have dismissed it as some stupid franchise, watch Casino Royale. I'm sick and tired of trying to find Bond fans among my cliques. There are hardly any, so I demand that some be recruited. My friends either brush Bond off because of what they've seen on TV, because they think it's farcical, or because they just don't have the class necessary to enjoy a high-class spy thriller. It's a damn good movie (up to 8.1/10 on IMDB) and it shows the true Bond character -- the one Ian Fleming wrote, which is a bit far away from the techno-thriller one-liner womanizing Bond the movies have come to sculpt. This is history.

I never was a fan of Jayms Bawnd. The only movie I actually watched all the way through was Die Another Day.

The worst one of them all, as expected.

Oooh. Stereotyped. Well maybe it's why I'm not a JB fanatic. I'm  just not into spy stuff. I think I watched Goldeneye, but I was too tired to interpret the movie. All I remember was a big thing fell on top of some dude close to the end.

The ones with Sean Connery were the best. I especially liked Dr. No when I very first saw it. My all time favorites are You only live Twice and The Living Daylights.

I didn't care for Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan at all. I have seen them all and each have their strong and weak points. A little while ago, I found out that one of the bodygaurds in A View to a Kill was Dolph Lundgren. So I went back and tried to find him and there he was. A young Dolph in his prime before and of his B movies...

So the Bond movie is good? I'll check it out since I have a free movie ticket. You just got me interested Zeality.

License Revoked was one of the more darker Bonds.

Roger Moore was cool, but I love Sean the best. No one can ever replace the first Bond.

Of course nobody even cares about the original Casino Royale Bonds. Barry Nelson and David Niven. Barry was in the Casino Royale tv episode and David was in the first movie. Though the Casino Royale movie, made in '67, was more of a spoof.

I just wish Craig were a bit taller and darker.

was that a "If you know James Bond, you'll know what this means" post? I'm clueless.
