I really think you need your Windows XP disc; if you can't find it, you may need to have a repair technician come look at your computer.
However, the situation is not as bad as it might seem. Regardless of any problems with Windows, your music is still there on the hard drive. (Unless you deleted it (accidentally) or the hard drive itself is damaged, which isn't likely.) If you want to save that music and other important files, then definitely do not reformat your hard drive. It's all still there...you just can't get to it.
Try starting Windows XP in safe mode. You might be able to do that, and maybe troubleshoot the problem. Restart your computer, and press F8 when the BIOS loads. (I think it's F8; someone please correct me if I'm wrong.) If you don't know what the BIOS is or when it loads, just start pressing F8 right after as your keyboard has been initialized (that's when the Number lock light comes on), and keep pressing it until a menu comes up. Select "Safe Mode," and see if Windows loads. If it does, look around in your Recycle Bin for the missing files, presuming you deleted them. If they're there, just restore them.
However, I don't think it's going to go that smoothly. If you can't find the Windows XP disc, you're probably going to need a skilled friend or a technician come repair it for you. I don't know; I'm not a computer guru. I could be totally wrong. But I know how frustrating it is when your computer doesn't work, so hopefully this will be of some help to you.
