General Discussion / Re: My First Published Novel, "The Vagrant's Tale"

Hahaha. Reminds me of Chrono Trigger. Ask me if I still enjoy playing it...

While I greatly appreciated the improved quality of the translation, it felt like an arduous chore to reslog through CT yet again when I got the DS game. Although I did really like the Lost Sanctum and Dimensional Distortion, and how they made some better connections between CT and CC. That they weren't something I'd already played through a ton of times over and over probably didn't hurt in that regard.

The book is shipped internationally through Amazon. Createspace is an independant print-on-demand publishing option owned by Amazon. Sorry about the inconvenience that may cause, but you'll have to place out of the US orders through Amazon's website (I made sure to check the box that Amazon was permitted to ship the product anywhere in the world). If you do read the book, be sure to let me know what you thought of it (reviews on Amazon itself are good too).

In some ways, knowing someone is going to die is better - not that there is anything good about someone dying - than just having it happened suddenly and horrificly. You are given an ample opportunity to come to terms with the upcoming reality, and accept it, before the horrible day finally happens. One day coming home and hearing your mom was in car wreck would be a lot harder to adjust to, at least I think so...

By the way, if you need a test reader - or maybe a proof reader - I'm willing to help.

General Discussion / My First Published Novel, "The Vagrant's Tale"

I have finally realized my dream of being an author with an actual physical book through the release of "The Vagrant's Tale", as well as my secondary hope that I get it all done before my mom's current cancer was able to take her. It took 2.5 years to write, and there were multiple times I didn't think I was going to pull through (I definitely fell off the writing horse more than once along the way). The ultimate key to finishing a book is to yell at yourself that you are going to sit down and write or else (being your own boss means having to be your own bad cop too).

By the way, did you know you can go quite mad rereading the same book 5 times in one summer? My first advice to anyone who's planning to publish a book is to hire an editor, this isn't something you want to be doing yourself *collapses exhaustedly*

DETIALS FROM THE BACK COVER:

"The nations of Skrande and Corsinthia clashed in a holy war for a century of conflict before the war ended. Not because their issues had ever been resolved, but because - after a century - both nations became financially bankrupt. Now charged with the care of Terus Kyreon, the son of a fallen friend, ex-soldier - Jysalef Soresh - hasn't been happy since the war drew to a standstill.

But when an important message sends him - against his desires - traipsing throughout the Corsinthian countryside, things become much more frustrating - and far more interesting - for the embittered vagrant swordsman."

BONUS FEATURES:

 - Complete pronounciation guide of all names and terms
 - Additional never before seen 16 page epilogue

Furthermore, I'd like to take a moment to immensely thank a special CTU fan - whom wishes to remain anonymous - for helping me to be able to commision the artwork for the book's cover.

Kajar Laboratories / The CTU Creator Needs Help With Drawn Artwork
« on: June 28, 2011, 07:14:55 am »
I have been working on a fantasy novel since December of 2008, which is a wholly original endeavor not related to Chrono Trigger at all, and now that it's finally done I have run into a major problem: it doesn't have a cover. While I do have a thought out idea in my for the cover for some time now, I can't draw one for it myself as my own art is of a style utterly unsuitable for the nature of book. This is where I hope to find someone who can possibly help me with this. As it currently stands I have no job, and haven't really had one for almost a year now, so I unfortunately have no money to pay someone with. Originally a friend was going to help with this, but she miscarried twins and therefore is understandably in some extreme depression at the moment (I would wait forever on her to feel better, but my mother currently has terminal cancer I would preferrably like this to be done while she's still alive). I will be self publishing this through Amazon's createspace at very small profit per unit, and I can't even be sure I'll ever make significant future profits to pay out against (I would hope that it sells though, the test readers really seemed to like it). The person who makes this will obviously be duly credited as the artist of the cover, and be allowed to do whatever else they want to do with the final image (sell prints, etc) and solely keep everything that comes from whatever they do with the image on their own. If anyone is willing to help me, I would first need to see a sample of your artwork before we talk further.

Anyways, sorry if some of you found that title to be conceptually misleading. I definitely didn't lie, but I'm sure there was a certain implication that this isn't exactly what the request would be. However, I really needed to be sure people would look at it. If it's not appropriate to post this here, please feel free to move and/or just delete it.

I'm glad you all liked this so much. When this was done, I was so angry with the process that I had pretty much decided there wouldn't be a third one. However, due to overwhelming positive response - in many magnitures higher than the first one ever got - there will eventually be another dub episode at some point. However, I first need to get around to making episode 23.

Sorry for the delays, I hope you all like it!

To Mr. Bekkler:

Please do a full recording, using better equipment, with the French voice. Both I and the sound technician loved it.

To all interested, here's the segment you'd be voicing:

Man 1: Hey there Sparky. How about a game?
Man 2: It is a test of ultimate strength and manliness.
Crono 6: I know how this works. It’s impossible to win, am I right?
Man 3: That’s where you’d be wrong, my pincushion-headed friend. I guarantee that you will win.
Crono 7: ….Guaranteed?
Man 4: Absolutely. Unless, of course, you are an utterly weak excuse for a human being.
Crono 8: I still don’t know… you don’t look too trustworthy.
Man 5: Hey, it’s cool. I understand if you are a spineless chicken.
Crono 9: Oh, I know you didn’t just say what I thought you said.
Man 6: No need to get huffy. You can come back once you find some balls.
Crono 10: I have no qualms against hurting the elderly. Just thought I’d warn you.
Man 7: Say, do you smell tuna? Cause I’m pretty sure you’re a big pu-
Crono 11: Ok! That’s it, asshole! I’ll show you who’s spineless!
Man 8: Aww, look at that. You lost.
Crono 12: But… but you guaranteed a win unless… oh.
Man 9: Which means you are weak and suck at life. Pretty sad self-realization, huh?
Crono 13: You are an evil carnie. Excuse me while I go find something to strike you with.
Man 10: Sucker.

Once I get a complete Pierre done, that's good to use, we can finally put this out. After that I will begin work on making Episode 23 a reality.
