SO CLOSE! SO VERY VERY VERY CLOSE!

She completely loves me. And I her. She has talked to her mother about me, and she wants to meet me! Even so, she wants to visit me, and I her. And she is so very very very close to me now!

I love today. It rained, and it was a grand, epic, fantastic day! I finished my math homework, got 110% on a quiz, spent all of History class knitting and watching a movie, and got a ride home and a free taco (apparently it was a crime to have never tasted Taco Bell's Black Taco). That taco was DELICIOUS. I also got my check today, walked to the store to deposit it, got a poppy from the VFW guys, and bought dinner for my mom and myself. I currently have a cup of bubble tea, some nice incense, a knitting project to work on, a good book to read, and time to sleep in tomorrow. I like being fed :D

EDIT: Forgot to mention, a highly intellectual discussion occurred with some random man in the library while I was waiting the hour between class and tutoring. I think he was giving his friend dating advice, but it turned into a discussion about pride and ego, and the different reasons for pride between males and females. I don't remember how I got pulled into it, but it was nice.

I love listening to the rain on my skylights. Very steady and rhythmic and calming.

I love the Adolph Assmann Psychrometer. You'd never guess in a million years what it does, without looking it up, but in the meantime the imagination runs wild!

The world was simply a better place before we had focus groups and PR departments. They'd never let a name like that fly today.

That sounds like an insult almost..."Don't be such an Adolph Assmann Psychrometer!"

Hard drive came in the mail already.  Thought about filming myself installing it (because it is GOING to be hilarious) but I figured I'd just do it without the hubbub.  Hopefully I won't be posting about how I can't get the jont in the thingymabob.

The lady J with whom I've become quite fond has taken to cooking for me, which nobody (other than parents or restaurants) has really done for me. I love it, cause she's italian and for some reason that forces her to be a good cook, but I feel bad because I can barely make anything edible.

So she's coming over and I'm attempting a meal. Steak on the George Foreman, Steamfresh veggies and Bob Evans mash potatoes! It gives the illusion that I'm cooking at least. ("Ill-US-ion, Mi-CHAEL!")Ha!

Steak on the George Foreman...

The horror... the horror...

If a steak is worth eating, it is worth preparing right, and that involves an oven. A George Foreman grill is great for a lot of foods, but it just doesn't have the right kind of heat for a good steak.

And good food doesn't have to take a lot of preparation! It can, certainly, but you'd be amazed what one can do with just salt, pepper, oil, foil, and an oven. I highly recommend www.8legged.com It can show you how to masterfully cook a steak with ease. The only "special" requirement is oil with a high smoke point (but that is just useful for cooking regardless).

If a steak is worth eating, it is worth preparing right, and that involves an oven.

Pft. Steak ought to be cooked over a direct flame; i.e., grilled or broiled. Ovens are for things like pot roast or baked brisket. With steak I would personally choose a hot iron skillet over an oven, if it came to that. But it never does. When I buy steak, I grill steak.

Shall it be pistols or rapiers, sir?
