Yeah, Bruce is amazing. He also volunteered to fly refugees out after one of the hurricanes that hit the Gulf Coast in the last few years. Up the Aluminum?

My flatbread is making smoke...

I know very, very little about cooking but...doesn't the appearance of smoke while cooking usually mean something is burning..?

And durnit, J!  I wish I lived closer to you so I could mooch off your (what sounds like) delicious cooking.

Heh. This flatbread refuses to play by the rules! If the Man says no smoking, then smoking it is!!

Actually, I think some smoking is inevitable with this kind of cooking. The skillet temperature is very high. I don't have a very good fume hood, though, so I've got the whole apartment open to ventilate, and it is a slight bit nippy for an open apartment tonight. Just as well, though, because my smoke detectors are as much overachievers as my fume hood is an underachiever. I'm amazed I haven't set the things off yet with this, given how much smoke the flatbread has put out. Better to be a bit nippy than to have to listen to their song...

Perhaps you and D can come out to PAX at some point in the future. This year I had a couple of Compendiumtes along for a The FEAST that I was supposed to be running with some other friends. I ended up having swine flu and being totally unable to help, and The FEAST turned out to be way less FEASTLY than we had all hoped. But next year, I'll be doing my own The FEAST here at my place.

Hopefully.  I've always wanted to visit Washington.

Damn, I love Carl Sagan. Watching him in Cosmos actually taught me proper public speaking skills. Or what I feel are...proper, public speaking skills *insert fancy hand waving*.

Random Carl Sagan vid to celebrate.

The EYE of Carl Sagan - is, watching you...from the GOOGOLPLEX.

Ah, Cosmos was such a gift to humanity. If every child watched the whole thing at least once, the world may be a better place very soon. If Cosmos were to be re-recorded with any modern-day knowledge beyond what we had back in the 1970s, I wonder who would be chosen to deliver the message in Sagan's place, and who should be responsible for the choosing? What a weighty task it would be, with all the requirements of political correctness foisted upon the media.

But it should certainly be someone with an interesting speech style. Sagan was...an artful master of the - spokenword *waves hands*. Sometimes when you're standing in front of a crowd, adopting someone's very...style of speech, takes out all the - oddities of, breath pacing, and...nervousness.

Woo, Monday Night Raw is on and the Undertaker gets to fight tonight! I love his theme song. Very pretty. (Also more men should wear their hair like that)
