General Discussion / Which version of the company Square do you like?

I'd say Squaresoft because they made all the classics (Chrono Trigger, FF6 etc)

Is this a movie that's already come out in cinemas a while ago or one that's in cinemas now?

Editorials and Features / Chrono Trigger Recollections

The Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes demo has been released recently, that is a ROMhack made with Temporal Flux. It's pretty good although there are quite a few bugs...

The only other ones that I know of is the Temporal Flux romhack to show off the programs features and some of the text hacks to make the characters say stupid things.

Also, please try to stay on topic?

Out of interest, why are you using RM2K3 instead of RMXP? RMXP has a lot more features and supports any size sprites, infinitely sized tilesets and has better graphics. It has an advanced programming language and features not seen in RM2K3 which are a lot better. Why stick with the older, not so good program for making your game?

I know this project is on hold, but I found all the main characters ripped, and all the monsters:

I also have ripped all the tiles, if you want them

Polling / How did you like the Crimson Echoes demo?
« on: September 02, 2005, 12:31:42 am »
Hmm...

I just played the demo, I liked it quite a bit. The modifications to the world map were great and I liked the kind of creepy feeling you get when you go into the restored cathedral (first thing I did when I went there was walk up to the organ and prss A   )

The story seems good so far, although as someone said earlier, the part where the time thing just goes off seemed a bit rushed.

I haven't played  Chrono Cross so I don't know how well it ties in and stuff.

I found a few bugs:

-The Card and the Pie stay in your inventory after you've given them away, but not the Red Katana

-In some of the scenes where NPCs leave the room in cutscenes and stuff they sometimes overlap walls

-The rest were just passability and overlapping tile errors I found like one of the benches in the cathedral lets you stand on top of the top of it and stuff. Also I don't think you should be able to walk over the rock at the Medina peninsula, I think it should be a location or something

I liked the ending bit where you see some of the different characters doing things, especially Magus yay! Where did you get those Glenn sprites though? I don't remember him ever looking like that, is it a modification?

I liked the music too, although it's a shame TF doesn't let you add your own creations.

All in all I would give it a 8.5/10 as a demo, great work!

By the way, do you need beta-testers? I'm quite good at finding bugs and things if you need anyone (although I highly doubt you do at this stage)

Chrono Trigger Modification / Rpg Maker XP
« on: July 25, 2005, 06:48:16 pm »
Temporal Flux is good for some things, but I strongly reccomend Rpg maker xp.

It has many features that would be extremely difficult if you were rom hacking, or using temporal flux. Sure, you'd have to get all the graphics yourself, but once you do making the game will be fast moving and pretty fun. Rpg maker XP has many features. The hardest thing would be getting a battle system that was like Chrono Trigger's. I know someone who is currently working on one for Rpg maker XP but I don't know when it will be complete.

My fan game, Chrono Void, is being made with rpg maker xp. It's very easy to use and I highly reccomend it

I played it for a while, at first I though it was an online mmorpg but it's not :( . I stopped playing when I discovered that to have different colored/shapes of armour you needed to pay, and also the battle system kinda sucks

Robo's not the main character but the point is (And the thing I forgot to mention, hehe) that there will be NEW characters with their own attacks, double techs etc that will be balanced out just like the original CT characters so that everyone will work together fine.

The party will be a mix of some old CT chars and some new characters.

And I'm not sure if the old characters will have the same Techs either

============================
>----------------CHRONO VOID--------------<
============================

Before I tell the story, lets just get one thing straight, forget about Chrono Cross. The events at the beginning of the game that are in the CT world obviously create a new timeline apart from the one that leads to CC so don't question how something could happen because it's not mentioned in CC.

---------------STORY-----------------
At the end of CT, a portal opened and all the characters returned to their respective worlds. Frog and the king to 600AD, Robo to 2300AD, Ayla to 65,000,000BC etc..

But Robo's time no longer existed, the future 2300AD had changed, and Robo had no place in that new time. Only a few minutes after everyone left Leene Square the portal opened again, and Robo was sent flying out back into 1000AD. He knew he did not belong there, he had to leave; go to somewhere else. He didn't know what would happen if someone else found him there but he didn't want to find out

He knew the way Crono and Marle had travelled through time before, using the Pendant and the teleport pads. Robo had to steal Marle's necklace in the middle of the night, but he needed it more than her at the moment.

He put on the pendant, turned on the telepad, and stepped onto it. It seemed there was no place for him in that world, because the pendant opened a gate to another....the gate grew bigger and bigger, the pendant shattered and Robo only managed to catch the chain before he was sucked into the portal. The portal sucked in all of Leene Square, and then closed. A crater remained.

Ronan, the hero of our story, went the next day to the place where Leene Square had been, to find a small blue stone sitting in the dirt. He was puzzled by this so he picked it up and looked at it, the stone began to shimmer and he was sucked into a portal that suddenely appeared....sucked into another world.

I can't tell any more for the same reason I wouldn't want to tell you about Lavos if you'd never played CT.

All I can say is that the civilisation you find when you get to the other world is at the same technological level as Zeal, and the year is 700AD.

I already have everything worked out, the antagonist, the story-shape, I just need to work on the graphics and get the mapping done. I have a guy who's making (and almost finished) a CT battle system, when that's done I'll be able to do the game.

I'll be away for about a month starting tonight, so not much progress will be made on the game until I come back.

Oh, and you know how the CT party drew their magic from the planet to do magic? Well, the new world is a new planet, so any characters you have in your party that were in the original CT will have to learn everything again, only all the tech/magic will be different.

NOTE: Crono and Marle will NOT be in the game, maybe some of the other characters will be but I'm not telling you who

-------------------SCREENSHOTS----------------------

From the cutscene at the beginning, Robo is going to face his destiny.

Inside one of the houses in the other world.

NOTE: I still don't have a main character, my spriter is working on him, Robo is just there as a placeholder (but you know he's in the game)

Magic, Elements, and Technology / Who Taught Magic In Zeal?
« on: July 08, 2005, 12:22:57 pm »
Quote from: Legend of the Past

Simple, almost everyone in Zeal were morons who thought they could live forever.

But that's not true. I went to Zeal yesterday and talked to all the NPCs and got to the 2 hidden rooms. But the point is that when they mention immortaliy it is always in reference to the completion of the Ocean Palace. When you beat Dalton he says; "I can't die now, I'm going to be immortal! And then teleports to the ocean palace. Another NPC mentions that they will become immortal soon but they don't say they are then. Maybe Queen Zeal made some claim about them all being immortal with Lavos' energy or something.[/b]
