Alright, nerd time. I want a tattoo, just a small one where it won't really be noticed, maybe on my shoulder (and I'll likely never get it). So far it's a tossup between the roman numeral II from the Starcraft II logo, or a black silhouette of the Mammon Machine/Zeal crest. Which one would be better?

I'm a big fan of the Zeal Crest, personally. When I couldn't find a suitable icon to use as an avatar, I played through on an emulator up until the first trip to 2300AD and took screen shots. It was a bit obnoxious, too, because of the pulsing it took several tries to get the lights how I wanted, but I think it was worth it in the end.

I think I'm leaning towards either the Mammon Machine, or Magus' Amulet with something.. round above it. The Frozen Flame just isn't doing anything for me.

The Mammon Machine's design mirrors the Zeal crest, correct?  Heh, I'd say Zeal crest all the way!  That's an awesome tattoo idea, and one I'd yet to consider myself.

The design so far: http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c183/ZephyrAnalea/tatttoo.png?t=1255228512
It's not finished yet, but this is what will eventually go on my shoulder.

Are the tentacle things on the sides supposed to be that thick? I was under the impression they came to a point at the bottom

That was traced over the sprite. All the proportions are pretty much the same as in-game.

I guess I was imagining the mammon machine design as unnecessarily complex.  That looks awesome!

Ah, this reminds me that I have two tattoo stories to share!

The first, and by far less interesting, is that my wife now has one. It’s something she's wanted since high school. It is a combination of a child's knot/symbol for the trinity and a Star of David.

The other, more interesting story, is that we visited Portland, Oregon earlier this month. While riding around on MAX, looking for stuff to do, the fellow sitting across from us heard our discussion and chimed in with his help. He even got off the train and showed us to an apparently famous bookstore. The most amusing thing was, though that he had "NERD CORE" tattooed on his knuckles, and had a D20 tattooed on the back of his right hand.

"Apparently" famous? Surely you're not talking about Powell's Books, the largest independent bookstore on the Earth and an international celebrity among literates everywhere?

Also, I do admit I chuckled at the cheek of getting a graven image featuring the great metaphorical symbol of the religion that created the ban on graven images. =)

Dr. Mrs. Thought's tattoo sounds pretty cool as well.  Where did she get it?

Yeah, "Powell's Books" sounds about right.

Also, Saj, I was totally about to say she got tattooed here in Dallas when I realized you meant where on her body. It is on her back, low enough that it can't be seen if she is wearing a normal shirt, but also easily displayed with the proper garb. Thus, when she needs to be professional, it can be hidden, and when not, then not.

I don't have any ink yet. But I'm going to get two soon.
