Teehee, Harle!
« on: August 07, 2008, 02:53:23 am »
After continue+ing my new+ game onto another save file, I was able to add Harle to my party before the Chronopolis sequence. She can be used for mild comedic effect in some of the situations that ensue towards the end of the game.

[After the dragons have merged, in Terra Tower, Belthasar explains what has happened]

Belthasar:
   But all that changed when
   FATE was vanquished and its
   powerhold was eliminated!
   At that moment, the seven
   Dragons who had been
   rendered almost powerless
   and forgotten...
   traveled across the
   dimensions to reunite
   into a single entity!

Harle:
   Seven dragons?
   I t'ought zere
   were only six?!?

Belthasar:
(He rambles on for a bit)
    ...
The child the others created on
the night of the electric storm
   that temporarily caused FATE
to loosen its hold on them...

Belthasar:
   I believe you
   knew her as...
   Harle.

Harle:
   ......!!!
   Unbelievable!

Oh hee hee hee, the irony. I thought was pretty amusing to have Harle talk about herself :)

Oh, and running quickly through the burning orphanage with Harle in your party is also fun. She simultaneously burns down the orphanage and tries to save it? Fighting FATE in Chronopolis with Harle in your party is kind of funny, too. There's two of them in the room at the same time.

Unfortunately, where most of the characters have dialogue at the end of the game (near the frozen flame, or during the 'right ending') Harle doesn't having any :(. I guess the designers took enough care as to make sure no contradictory dialogue messed up the ending. Ho-hum.

Has anybody else found comedic situations in which to use Harle after she's supposed to be gone from your party?

I <3 Harle. How can you not, with that cutesy face and adorable accent ^.^ She ranks up with Robo and Azala in best Chronoverse characters =)

Harle's one of my favs. I have yet to get that far with Chrono Cross, I have with Chrono Trigger, but not Chrono Cross yet. I'll try finding that now, I'm pretty close to the getting to that point.

The way Moonglasses is putting it though, is that by then, Harle has left your party. There is a way however to keep her on a newgame+ however, which is what he/she did (If I understood the post correctly? It's been a while since I've played Cross)

It's possible to have ALL the characters at the same time playable eventually by collecting the characters and playing through enough.

3 times, I believe 3 times is where you can have all the character, particularly because of the pierre, other character, other character, choice you have to make about who's gonna help you break into Viper manor.

PS: Again, excuse my lack of detail :-p it's been a while

It's alright.
By the way, Guile and Nikki. Although I fail to see why all the games characters adore Nikki saying he's hot.  Harle's makeup is way better anyway. How can you not love a happy face? Even if it is painted?

Yeah, Pierre my last guy. Ketchop was hard when I faced him NOT on a new game+. Certainly had a harder time with him than with Dario. I can't remember, can you have Harle during the rescue of Riddel? If so, then I beat Dario with Harle. I remember when he was tough. Then I learned a strategy that made Dario one of the easiest bosses.
I swear I had Harle but now I'm not sure...
Je me sens stupide... :P

Nope, can't say I remember. Rescue of Riddel? Hm, well you get her pretty much while you're lynx . . . which is a good ways into the game, and she's only there while you are Lynx . . . so I'm honestly not sure.

All this CC-ness has made me revert to Ebay to find a freakin' copy! I need to play it!

Emulation is your friend. And yes you do have Harle when rescueing Riddel. At that point you just got back into Another World and arrived in Termina after cleaning up the Dead Sea.

Dario is probably the easiest boss ingame as you can have him use useless elements all the time.

Oh it's pretty ironic, lemme run you through this dark time in my history.

Kilfer
Kilfer has uncle
Uncle has CC
Kilfer and uncle play, but mostly uncle, Kilfer was quite young
Kilfer comes of age
Kilfer gets a PS
Kilfer's uncle lets Kilfer borrow his copy of CC
. . . Kilfer's little little sister puts the disc in the PS (not on the small wheel, just, in it, like a microwave or something) and SLAMS the lid shut, thus breaking disc 2 of CC . . .

Kilfer has not been the same since, Kilfer's had this, nasty twitch in his eye since then

EDIT: Find me a PS emulator for Mac . . . please, I beg of you

Yeah, he really is and if you do have her while saving the princess; Then I am positive I beat the crap out of him with just Harle. Riddel was finished off in the blink of an eye and Lynx did some stuff but it was mostly Harle.
Wow, now I feel even stupider than before.
And to Kilfer: I've done that(your little sister's actions I mean) with a different game for payback. I also cracked my nail and finger apart.

Well when she's older with a job I'll force her to buy her oldest brother a copy so as to pay me back for the years of torment she gave me.
