Ghetz's Shirt
« on: May 22, 2008, 03:24:40 am »
All right... I've been recently trying to actually finalize my 'perfect' new game save file, and I've never been as close to accomplishing it by actually doing everything that I've always wanted to (which includes having a permanently evolved Pip with his elemental grid actually complete!).

Anyway, there is one other thing that I've always wondered about and that is of the particular armor called Ghetz Shirt. I know that there was supposed to be an event that actually enabled you to get it but was ultimately not implemented into the game. I also am aware that there is actually a way to get it through Game Shark codes, if I'm not mistaken.

Now, I was just wondering... is there anyone who is knowladgeable enough on this particular aspect of the game, so as to give me any pointers regarding where exactly were you supposed to acquire it...? Is there any possible way to get it withouth using Game Shark codes?

P.S.: BTW, there is a FAQ at gamefaq's on items obtained that are stolen/dropped by enemies that specifies that the particular monster that 'supposedly' were meant to drop it are the Wraiths in Home World, but only as a rare drop. Only problem is, that Wraiths are almost never found in Home World. The only one that I can actually think of, is the one blocking your way to Viper Manor who is haunting the little boy's dad in the Shadow Forest. Other than the ones through the Bend of Time's portal (second one from the entrance on the top row), I can think of no other Wraiths.

Edit: Okay, I just checked the Compendium's Encyclopedia and it states that there are actual rumours about getting it through a rare drop in the Hydra Marshes (I'll assume that it was through a Wraith and in Home World), but that they are in fact just that, only rumors. I wonder if the rumors got started as a result of that Game FAQ I alluded or if there is any actual truth to them... help?

Yep, that rumor comes from GameFAQs. As far as I can tell, no one has ever successfully acquired it. I've seen several posts on GF since starting to visit those forums in late 2003 talking about fighting hundreds of Wraiths to no avail.

It's in the Brady guide as a rare drop from Home World Wraiths which is where I think that rumor started, actually...

Oh my, I just saw the enciclopedia and I want to make a very important correction. Ghetz shirt CAN be obtained without gameshark. I do not own a gameshark and I just double checked my lots-years-old Chrono Cross save. As I remembered, I have the Ghetz shirt.

I never knew about the Hydra Marshes rumor, but I can tell you where to obtain it: Isle of Damned.

I'm not sure if recruiting Greco is a requierement, if any at all. But I vividly remember how I got it, it was when you're Lynx and you're gonna go against Garai. On the isle there is a creepy armor (around the end with the mirror puzzle) standing somewhere, and it will get you into a battle (hard if first game) with many armor monsters. I vividly remember getting the Ghetz Shirt as a spoil.

I never ever had idea it was a rare item, I was just "oh, Ghetz, that's Greco's dead friend" and continued. I repeat myself, I do not own a gameshark nor have used one. I know I got it from these armor monsters, which you can only battle once at isle of damned (armor disappears after the battle). Maybe that set of enemies is unique, different from the ones from Viper Manor (I think they also appared there).

Anyway, don't believe me if you don't want, go experiment, I'm sure it's obtainable without game shark, seeing I have it. I only have one though.

Don't they appear on the SS Invincible as well? I thought it was one of the monsters Fargo sends to fight you.

Yeah, I think I've seen a few threads concerning this item specifically myself. However, I don't think I've ever seen a single post ever, that has fully detailed an explanation on how to obtain it, and which actually makes any sense.

It's in the Brady guide as a rare drop from Home World Wraiths which is where I think that rumor started, actually...

Hmmm... I didn't realize that it was also in the Brady Games Guide as well. Is that a fact? I never bothered correlating the two 'guides', but I guess it's possible seeing as how there are plenty of mistakes in both (i.e. the FAQ stemmed from the mistakes made by the Brady Games one).

Oh my, I just saw the enciclopedia and I want to make a very important correction. Ghetz shirt CAN be obtained without gameshark. I do not own a gameshark and I just double checked my lots-years-old Chrono Cross save. As I remembered, I have the Ghetz shirt.

Yeah... unless you can provide actual 'proof' of what your're saying here, I wouldn't bother to continue posting about it. Specially if all the info your going to provide is misleading.

I never knew about the Hydra Marshes rumor, but I can tell you where to obtain it: Isle of Damned.

Okay... you see, I remember reading something extremely similar to what your'e actually saying here a long time ago in the Game FAQ's forums.
I actually remember verifying this as a complete hoax!

The battle that you're actually talking about is the one with the Wight Knight, which can only be fought once, like you said, at the Isle of the Damned in Home World. However, you don't necessarily have to fight him on your first trip, as you can actually trigger the fight (by luring the Will'O'Wisp who is hanging around that area) at any point in the game that you want.

That battle is always fought against that one special armor called the W'Knight or something in the game. There are no other types of armors ever present in that fight. No Man-O'-Wars or Man-At-Arms at all! The only ones in the entire game are the ones you fight in the S.S. Zelbess (a group of Man-O'-Wars only) and at Viper Manor (only one Man-At-Arms in the group) in the Treasure Vault Room (when you put the Decor Shield in its place). Oh, and by the way, the Wight Knight's rare drop is a Rainbow Shell. Which is also one of the easiest ones to miss in the game. (Try fighting a Will'O'Wisp and the Wight Knight over and over until you actually get a 'rare' drop from it).

You see, it's not that I don't want to believe you, it's mostly that you're not making any sense!
Trying to be ambiguous about it, it's not really gonna help your case or make your post a single bit more credible.

Anyway, don't believe me if you don't want, go experiment, I'm sure it's obtainable without game shark, seeing I have it. I only have one though.

If you ever provide any actual sort of credible evidence, I'll believe you. I will also try to verify it, as soon as possible (I have saves at just about every single point in the game).

Don't they appear on the SS Invincible as well? I thought it was one of the monsters Fargo sends to fight you.

Yeah, that's actually one of the only two points in the game in which you can actually fitght them.
No Man-At-Arms though, in that group. Which is good, conisdering that you get another chance to fight them at Viper Manor, after you recruit Sprigg (for her Doppelgang transformations).

Yup, I can verify as I have the Brady Guide and that's what it says...

I know it's bad quality because it's just my cam, but you can see what it says, right?

dankun: I'll take my chances on deciding if I bother to post or not. I did not post misleading nor tried to be ambiguous, and I don't take pleasure in trolling or lying on purpose. On the contrary, I posted information from my memory (corroborated by my unhacked Chrono Cross save file) which could lead to experimentation from Compendium members to try to find something in that exact battle.

I don't remember the exact names of all monstrosity of CC, sorry. I could grab a screen of my game file with digital camera or something, but I guess that wouldn't help since you can gameshark it anyway. I still keep my call up for Compendium members to experiment on that fight, since I do know I got it as a spoil.

Actually isn't there a Wraith in that room? So could he just be an idiot and not remember fighting the Wraith either before or after the armor? Not that I'm trying to prove it exists. I just think he doesn't remember it as well as he thinks.

Thanks. I don't own a physical copy of the guide, so I couldn't really verify it. That's almost exactly identical to the information that's here in the Encyclopedia, with the exception of Rare Drop item being nothing.

Yeah, I can see it. I actually had no idea that the name of the item as it appears in-game had no space in between the two words. I guess my theory was correct, after all. Probably all the mistakes that were made in the Brady Games Guide were repeated by that FAQ, as they weren't really 'gathered', moreso than they were 'copied'.

Yeah, okay... whatever you say. Just know that nobody will ever keep paying attention to you, as long as you keep being a complete dubious and insencere 'jackass'. You are nothing than a complete 'moron', if you continue to keep pushing this nonsensical idea that you somehow managed to misteriously get it, through a imaginary way in a fight that doesn't exist in the game as you describe it. If you so vividly remember how it is you got it, how about you come up with a more believable lie than that or start being honest for once and admit your being devious and deceiving about it.

You don't have to remember them. They're all listed right here in the Encyclopedia. I actually had to check it to verify a few names myself, and I still got some of them wrong! And you're right, a pic would definitely not constitute credible proof at all, so don't bother. How about you start telling the truth, and admitting your being a 'phony' instead?

The rudeness of this forum is nice. You request information about the item, I come up with a possibility that you could very well research, but instead I get told to stop posting, then called "idiot" by ZealKnight and "jackass" and "moron" by the topic creator. I don't think I insulted any of you. And I don't know why the hell you keep writing like 'this'.

Don't worry, this doesn't talk bad about the Compendium, it just makes you two look like complete pricks. I won't go down to your level and insult you back (save for pricks). I wish you luck in your research.

Yeah, I think they were being a little harsh in their criticisms too, radicalblues. Regardless of whether or not what you say is factual or made up (of which I have no way of proving either way myself), nobody needs to bash you for believing it and it didn't seem to me like you were making it up to screw with people...I mean, this isn't GameFAQs, right? >_>

Don't worry, I'm not always like this. Only when I get irritated by someone who I know is totally and completely dead wrong about a specific subject. Case in point, you coming here and telling everyone to go experiment about something that I know for a fact it's complete bullshit. Did you really think I that I didn't know what I was talking about? That I wouldn't make absoulutely certain about what I was saying to make a post about it? That I wouldn't double check just to make sure that what you are saying is 100% 'bullshit', so that other people wouldn't waste their time with your suggestions?
And I'll talk, however the hell I wanna 'talk'. Thank you very much.

I'm not worried. Like I post enough here to even care....
Please stop lying about how you got this item and start telling the truth!! (you have a gameshark and you're trying to be 'funny')

Exactly. We don't need members like them over here at the Compendium.
