According to my (massive) dictionary, 'mammon' means 'greed,' as in greed in anything. (Zeal was greedy for power/immortality)

In addition to avarice/greed, it can also mean richness or injustice. Mammon was said to be absolutely mutually exclusive to God(i.e. love one, but hate the other). This might draw on the fact of the MM being a tool to harness Lavos which is inherently at odds with the Entity(lifeforce of the planet).
