Most Uncomfortable Moment in an RPG

This is a really stupid topic. You can talk about something embarassing you did, like I did countless times, or something like this...
In FFX how you could not pause. This may seem crazy, but when your fighting a giant boss, and you have to go somewhere so you leave it and go, it just bothers me how its just there, with your characters swaying to anf fro. Doesnt this bother anyone else?

My most uncomfortable moments in RPGs tend to revolve around major plot scenes that went bad somehow. For example, it was always hard for me to watch the Boy (Randi) cry for his mother in a scene toward the end of The Secret of Mana. The emotion just didn't connect with me; instead, I felt embarrassed for the guy. I got the same feeling when Celes kept calling Cid "Grandad" after he croaked. That felt so hollow and cheesy. I could go on, but I think you get the point.

I can't think of a worst moment, but I'm not pleased with how Rufus died in FF7. He casually looked at those volleys and sort of vanished. He at least deserved a last line.

I was horrified by the Soylent System in Xenogears:

(SPOILER!!!!)

a factory which turns "inferior" humans into food cans for the Solarian humans (who don't know exactly what they eat)... it's worse than a Nazi camp.

Hello "The Time Machine".  Not exactly the same, but that idea's not exactly unique either.

Of course, but I never thought I would see that kind of thing in a video game.

Point taken.  Quite true.

Anyways, I thought about it more and my probably "most uncomfortable" moment is in CT when you give the plant to the people in the ruined future.  You STILL know they're doomed, yet Marle keeps up her "hope no matter what" thing.  To me it seemed WORSE than doing nothing, as to me it seemed like Marle was giving them FALSE hope, which is just that much crueler than accepting the facts.  I wanted to yell at the screen "just shut up Marle!  They're all gonna DIE!!!"  Now we actually did something that would MATTER for their future (changing time to destroy Lavos), but giving them the false hope there just gave me a bad vibe.

The most uncomfortable was the one I just saw again the other day, as my sister was playing it:
FFX, where Tidus and Yuna are attempting to laugh in Luca. Oh, does that make me cringe... I think my little sister thought it uncomfortable as well, as she turned the sound off for that time.

LOL. Yeah, that was a pretty awkward moment.

Too bad Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within doesn't count in this thread. My uncomfortable moment was explaining to my ex-girlfriend "That had pretty much nothing to do with the games you always hear me talking about." I'm still convinced we broke up over that movie.

But my real uncomfortable moment was my first time playing Chrono Cross, when Serge stabs Kid and smiles. I had no idea what to make of that at first. I thought I was playing a murderer, heh (a murderer who doesn't speak, no less).

Hmm...I haven't really had an uncomforatable period in any RPG that I have played. But then again, I have only played four of them.

Oh my god...that was one painful scene to watch. Almost made me regret playing the game.

Generally, I always roll my eyes in modern RPGs when the dialogue is corny (I.e. A girl with an overly chirpy and bouncy can be obnoxious when there's voice acting). Another is when the characters SAY the techs they perform (Star Ocean 3). That grates on my nerves.

Just about any Squall-Rinoa argument scene prior to disc III of FF VIII. It's so predictable I feel sorry for Square.

I can't really think of one off the top of my head, as it would probably have to have been really uncomfortable for me to do so, but I suppose if there was a cg in an RPG of a scene where the good guys and the bad guys have momentarily joined forces somehow to fight some greater threat and are sharing a long elevator ride together that went on for more than 5 minutes or so with awkwardly exchanged dialogue and cleverly written yet sad attempts at humor to help lighten the mood that is as thick as layers and layers of ice, then that would probably significantly stick in my memory for something such as this.

And now that I think about it there NEEDS to be a game where something like this happens because it would certainly be funny to think about much, much later when the feeling of it stops ravishing your fragile mind.

Squall telling his feeling to Rinoa, I muted it, and skipped right through it.

Well, he...  I guess the way he... went out in the game wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible.

But as for my picks, it would be just about all scenes in FF8 where Squall interacted with someone, Zell interacted with someone, or Rinoa interacted with someone, and in FF10 when Tidus and Yuna were trying to laugh and SMILE at Luca.  God, I hated that part.  And the shiny cut scene with Tidus and Yuna swimming in the water....
