Let's see, since I last posted, we've had... Spaghetti and homemade garlic bread... Homemade pizza... went out for hot chicken and waffles... had lazy buffalo chicken wraps... and indeed, we had a beef taco night, haha!

Both sets of in laws? Thats gonna be crazy. Why so suddenly concerned about both of you? From where, out of state?

Just my wife's parents. My father-in-law got a killer job offer at my company and he's taking it. He'll be living with us while his kids finish out the school year where they live now and/or until he can find the right house zoned for the school(s) he's targeting. Right now they live about four hours away. Him living with us should make for an interesting winter (and maybe spring), haha... We went house hunting and looked at schools for their kids last weekend.

I thought things were slow but you have a lot of time?

Things are slower -- not as much time spent on sports and school events, so I actually have a little bit of downtime (as opposed to everything being fast-paced and non-stop events). Part of it just the descent into winter, things always slow down a little during this time, although obviously the holidays end up making things wild.

I've really not had much time to play video games since summer, although I did finally beat Tears of the Kingdom a few days ago. It took me over six months to beat! I started it in May and it's been the main game I've been playing.

I have, however, picked up Star Ocean: The Second Story R for the Nintendo Switch. I also pre-ordered the remake of Super Mario RPG, but that doesn't come out for a few more days. According to Steam, the last time I've played Final Fantasy XV was on 10/7, so it's been a hot minute. Although I did manage to put about 4 hours into a game called Lies of P the past month or so.

You saw how slowly I played LUNAR 2, and when we played that it was the ONLY video game I was playing at the time. So yeah, I'm not really doing much with the video games right about now.

I don't really like spaghetti (its too hard to spell) one time I told a co. 'I don't want your dirty f!@#$%^' spaghetti.' and he like, got his feelings so hurt, and wanted to quit his job. HAHAHAHAHA I dunno about garlic, I think about my breath cause I'm a fresh young thing, single ready to minx. Pizza's always good. Tops! In S.F., in the 90s, Peter's Pepperoni Pizza fed the neighborhood I met so many kids I'd eventually go to school with. Oh, hot chicken that's so um a little cracked out (winkwink hinthint) oh, those sound good buffalo anything is so S.F. we used to have a little field in Golden Gate Park that had buffalo but it could be a different animal. At Chipotle, we had 4 meats: Chicken (signature/most popular/anything you think - always sells out), Steak (spicy), Barbacoa (this's the signature dish) and& carnitas which's not spicy AT ALL and good for kids and old people. When I make tacos for myself I usually get 2 carnitas and 1 steak. and all the fixin's but I think people zero in on me on my meat choice. lol And you HAVE to use the Green Tabasco bottle/the chipotle one is for the employees.

To be honest, when I lived in the US - the local law enforcement thought I was suspicious cause I was at home when I was like 19 and they made a big deal that it's not "My House" and its "Parents' House" - even in RPG's its always called "Mario's Pad" or "Crono's House." I hated the US if you aren't totally whitewashed white person. lol Like Ancestry.com- territory. I kinda wanna make a thread at my HomeBoard about "Normalizing Living With Your Parents." You can't use Revive to restore yourself if you're alone. If you get 100% points does it reflect or absorb. It counts your saves, omg. "How much?" I feel like customer service should just get to the point. People get mad when I say "my house" but look its says Crono's House. So, what's? Is it cause its single-parent? I found a food item Tonic ITEM Restores 50 HP You can't unequip and be empty-handed, that's weird in Final Fantasy culture.

Correct! I don't use any social media outside of Discord, sometimes on Reddit, and here. I have gaming accounts on most of the major platforms, though. I used to have Facebook and Instagram years ago but deleted my accounts. I also had a LinkedIn profile but I don't have an active account. Probably next time I go on the job hunt, which seems a ways off at this point.

So from a social media "connection" perspective, you can find me here, on Discord (which I'm rarely on), or a video game platform. I just never use PSN, but will try to find out what my user name is.

I also have email, of course. But sorry, man. I like being disconnected and am sort of private IRL. I also like not having to see opinions I don't care about (haha), drama, all that crap. Of course, there's tons of good stuff on social media, too, but my life is easier and less stressful without it.

Although I have told my wife I need to create a burner Facebook account so I can use Facebook marketplace, haha... I hear I'm missing out on that.

Haha! Yeah, this always annoyed me a smidge... I don't care about the number of saves. I can't imagine many do, although I guess this is there for that 0.0001% that does care. Haha!

When I was a teenager I wrote a prequel concept to Chrono Trigger which explained where Crono's dad was. In my story his name was 'Trama' and he was a clockmaker from the militaristic nation of Choras. He would be trying to stop another time traveler and save the timeline. One of his allies was Eliza, Marle's mom. Anyway, the game would have ended with him accidentally changing the timeline into what we essentially see in Chrono Trigger, and in this new timeline, Choras would just be a normal little village and no-longer a militaristic nation (because he changes history somehow). I don't remember details, but his adventure eventually set up events for Chrono Trigger, although it was never a fleshed out concept.

I never really thought about a Tonic being a food item, but it may very well be a tonic drink of some kind! What about Ether?

But another funny one, is lol, I was playing Chrono Trigger in my gameroom and my Mom was just there doing whatever and it was me (Crono), Marle and Lucca and I went upstairs to Crono's bed and took a rest, and SHE FREAKED OUT and said, "Are they having SEX?" And I repeatedly said, "no, they're just sleeping on the same bed all three of them together" and SHE FREAKED OUT EVEN MORE. So I just turned it off, switched my party to Frog and Robo and got in the bed,. and it made her go "m'ok'ay." LOLOLOL

     I was just kinda thinking about how Chrono Trigger asks simple kiddy traditional questions to players like, "Does your house have a Gate key?" I notice my previous house in the US does have a Front door with a Gate attached (you need a key), and we have a Gate here on the property in The Philippines. And it does kinda seem like a Filipino thing to have a metal gate to the house.

I'm not saying its that simple.
     And didn't the party entrust the Gate Key to Lucca?
I just notice the Philippines is very concrete, and Spanish windows. And we still use traditional metal doors. I don't think many houses use that in the US, but I do notice it in San Francisco--kinda Victorian.

I just don't ENJOY social media. I'm an introvert at heart, and I just don't *enjoy* social media as a whole. It's as simple as that. Facebook connections don't need to know my business, lol... if they're close enough with me for me to care what they think, I'll talk to them in real life or on the phone (or text message).

Believe it or not, there's a lot of people out there who don't use social media. At least here in the states. I'm not the only one in my IRL friend group who likes being off line, so there's at least two or three of us, haha!

In my opinion, LinkedIn is about as bad as Facebook. It's full of peacocking and postering and every other post is a humble-brag. When I had it 90% of the people reaching out were recruiters or people trying to sell me certifications and stuff. That may because of the nature of my work and it's somewhat of an area that is in high demand, but LinkedIn got annoying, so I got rid of it. I'll reactive it when I actually need it and when I'm on the job front.

I'm not sure what you mean. I don't think I'm hard to talk to, and anyone who knows me IRL doesn't think so, either. At work we also have email and IM. The only thing hard about talking to me online is that I don't use social media and that I don't log into here or Discord frequently, so like daily interactions don't really happen. So maybe you meant more like I'm hard to reach?

I know I talked about some frustrations at work with my new job and trying to build relationships with the new team, but that's all fine and dandy now. It was just general frustrations starting out after my promotion and was like maybe a month total. They love me now!

That's hilarious. I remember two of my friends and I back in like 1996 arguing over how to pronouncing some of the names. Marle as 'MAHRL' or 'MAHR-LAY' was definitely one of our disagreements.

Double post.

All this talk about Chrono Trigger really makes me want to play it later. I haven't played it in years, truth be told. Since the DS version came out, I've only even played that version. I can't recall or not if it includes the original Woolsey translation or just the new one.

There were a few things I really liked about the new translation. I like that they gave Magus a more ominous and intimidating title as 'the Fiendlord.' I also really like how they refer to the Ice Age era as Antiquity.

Did you ever play the ROM hack the Compendium did years ago in which they did a new, 100% accurate (or as accurate as possible) translation from the Japanese version? That was fun.

I'm not sure if you've played any of the ROM hacks. I know you're more of an OG console player, but there are some good ones out there. Schala Edition, Chrono Trigger Plus, just to name a few. Not to mention Crimson Echoes and/or Flames of Eternity.

That may be a possible game we could do a playthrough of after Christmas. Or Chrono Cross. I also wouldn't mind playing through Secret of Mana again, although this time I think I'd want to play the newer, enhanced version that came out a few years ago. I have it on PC but haven't played it, yet. It's another one of my favorite jRPGs.

Once we decide on a new game, I'll create a new thread and we'll see if anyone else wants to join in. If not, we can always just take it to Discord PMs. I'm down for whatever. I'll probably have to play in 15-30 minute increments on whatever play, just because I have even less time for gaming than I did last winter. I'm still in, though!

Anyway, FIL is coming to live with us today, and he'll be living with us for a while, so I'm going to be sharing my office space (which is also where I play all of my non-handheld video games). It will probably be until summer 2024, although it's possible it could end a little sooner. I'm helping him move in today, so wish me luck!

Hey I noticed Chrono Trigger went from a floating trademark symbol, to now a completely registered trademark. You work in business. Do you have any thoughts on that? I majored in Business Admin. Wasn't Chrono Trigger like the RPG that opened the way? Like, Dragon Warrior never really interested us that much and we never really got it. Chrono Trigger was dark, and more mature & religious significance but it was geared towards kids? I just think word-of-mouth cause I talked abt. it a lot at school during the time. I go online and guys really LIKE that A LOT. FFT has accumulating and allocation though. I always say PlayStation games is pretty much more for Gran Turismo and once you start w/the custom customizing I mean, wrestlers customize their body.

I think Tech pts. and Job points is pretty similar from Final Fantasy Tactics. I think a lot of RPGs grab from CT, but I just say lift. I have a lot more to say but I think the Gateway is gonna hit me, and forces me to leave for 3 hr. I'll brb laters

I haven't played much of anything. I put a few hours into Star Ocean: First Departure R and completely forgot how quickly this game flies once you use the time gate on Styx. Even the leveling is really fast; grinding isn't too bad in this one.

Uh, I just notice that once a Forum develops some sorta real-time chat, everything starts to get tricky. Its really my fault for going in there since I do like to remain in the Public eye - meaning, my online lifes is really open and honest I've never lied about my identity online before, I've been around and I just think real-time chats people just hook up behind closed-doors and slang marijuana, I mean its just something a normal person would think.
