Going to be out for a bit...
« on: July 11, 2010, 12:47:31 am »
I was in a wreck. My car is totalled.

What happened, was I was going to one of my sweetheart's friend's houses for a party, and I went down a wrong road (missed a turn because I couldn't read directions and drive at the same time).

And I realized I took a wrong turn. It was on a slick gravel road.

I was only going about 10 mph.

But when I turned around and started to go, my tire caught a rock and sent my into a fishtail.

I managed to save myself a bit, but the road was too narrow and I flew into the woods. Literally.

Totalled my car.

From the damage to my car, how far I went into the woods, and how I wrecked in itself, I am lucky to be alive. I walked away with only a minor case of whiplash.

Lesson: When you guys get to drive, be careful. Live every day like it is your last.

Cars are dangerous, even though we use them so often that they feel comfortable and familiar. You've learned an important lesson at a fairly small price. Glad you're still with us; take your time to recuperate.

If I lived every day as though it were my last, I'd probably be thrown in debtor's prison, even though they don't even have debtor's prisons in America anymore. =)

Yeah, we've all had our close encounters to a greater or lesser degree -- it's sickening that we can't implement a safer way to get ourselves from place to place. Glad to hear you made it out in one piece, at least.

Thank you.

Yep. I never was really one for cars. I prefer walking and stuff. I only use it for long distance communting or when it's absolutely necessary. I am actually a really good driver. But, you can't always avoid stuff like that. It's a risk of driving, and sometimes it happens.

I am just really glad I am alive. Especially with my current relationship (we are going to be engaged in a few years once she is older, and we plan to marry when it is appropriate and able to be handled!)...I'd hate to leave her like that.

Well, at least your alive and that's most important. A car can be replaced, but a life cannot.

When I get to drive, you bet I'll have that lesson in mind... (Not that I wasn't before, but you get the idea)

I have this bad habit of surviving everything that happens to me. But in this case, I am so very glad.

I hate when people think they are invincible, especially when it comes driving.
