Belthasar......? (with a little Of Project Kid mixed in)

Ok... I'm officially confused.

Belthasar was warped to the ruined future, right? There, he developed Epoch and a way to climb up to Death Peak. (speaking of, if death peak is lavos covered in crud, where do the lavos spawn come out of...? shouldn't there be a pathway inside lavos from there?)

Anyway, shortly after death peak, he died and left his last memory fragments in the Nu/robot/thing....

How did he A. escape the destruction of the future, and B. end up in the non destroyed future...?

He was sent to an already crushed future, which was destroyed when lavos was defeated. Wouldn't, then he be forced into the darkness beyond time or cease to exist or something? According to Time Traveler's Immunity, he should be unchanged by events changed in the past, however, since he was transported to the dying world after the day of lavos, when history was changed, shouldn't he have remained in the dead time or possibly in the DBT because the place he was transported to, would have never existed?

Even still, how did he have the time, (if he was dying anyway) to build the Neo Epoch, to somehow save himself from having to wait 10000 years for Serge to show up in Viper's library, (or for that matter for Viper's library to exist)?

Maybe I'm overlooking something, but I never thought about it until after I read about TTI etc...


Not only that, but he would have had to have lived a fairly long while in Chronopolis to get all his planning/studying/discovering done for Project Kid...

And speaking of Kid, she obviously didn't met Serge until he was attacked by Karsh, so, shouldn't that mean she went back in time afterSchala was freed, and in any case, HOW did she travel through time?

Chrono Cross never seems to make full sense to me... normally I'm pretty good with this stuff but... every time I figure something in CC out, it only confuses other things I thought were given...

There is a page on Belthasar in the compendium encyclopedia with links to a few theories that might help solve a few of your questions. I'll try and take a stab at it though.

The original timeline where Belthasar is sent into the ruined future is only one timeline (the timelime where Lavos carries out what he does without hindrance). Once Chrono and company defeat Lavos the main original timeline branches into an alternate timeline where Lavos does not destroy most of life on earth. It is in this non ruined future that Belthasar is transported to once the split occurs.

If you ever saw Back to the Future II remember how after they come back form the future to the changed present Doc says that they cannot go back into the future to change things because they'll be going into the future of the present that has already been changed. In order to fix things they have to do so from the past where the timeline split because those are the points that both timelines still have in common.

It is the same here. Once the future is changed by Chrono and company when Belthasar is sent into the future he is sent into the changed future. You might be able to say that the "old" Belthasar was sent to the DBT , but it might be more accurate to say that it was just another Belthasar in another dimension of time (like how in CC there are people in both dimensions, but they might be completely different because their lives were different).

As for the Neo Epoch, that was built in the non ruined future, so he was not dying at the time and had access to the technology to complete it. I have no idea how long it took him to conceive of project kid, but he was a Guru, so maybe he has a genius IQ.

As far as Kid, I believe she did meet Serge before and saved him from drowning once on the Beach. He might not remember her, since it was a traumatic experience, but they still technically met. She traveled through time via Schala. When she was being absorbed by Lavos to from the Time Devourer she used her connection with the still existant gate to transport her life force into that present time period. I do not know the specifics, but it might be covered in the compendium page on her.

Yeah, the second Belthasar wouldn't be Time Bastard'd because the first wouldn't be there either 1) from death or 2) from the fact that the future changes...I guess? I'm not up to date on the whole Time Bastard/Time Travelers Immunity stuff...But I think that's the case in Belthasar's case, right?

As for the encyclopedia entry on Belthasar... I read it, it's what made me start thinking... and I couldn't follow it all the way through... gotta give Square credit.... nothing has ever confused me for as long as the chrono series....
