Chrono Trigger Modification / FF6 Battle Music in CT

As far as the RD Battle music "Gale" is concerned. It seems to conflict with Battle 1. I replaced "A Shot of Crisis" instead and it seems to correct our instrument problems. "Gale" is the only song I have had any trouble with so far. I confirmed that the two byte header does refer to the size of the spc data. For Instance Gale is 864 bytes long, which is 360 in hex. The byetes are in reverse order, so the two byte header for Gale is 60 03.

I also managed to get the FF6 Battle Music into CT. It works pretty well with the instruments.

Hey everybody. I am currently working on a table that lists the size of all the songs and unused space. That way we know what we have to work with as far as song space is concerned.

As far as the RD Battle music "Gale" is concerned. It seems to conflict with Battle 1. I replaced "A Shot of Crisis" instead and it seems to correct our instrument problems. "Gale" is the only song I have had any trouble with so far. What it looks like I'll have to do is replace a different song and then set that to the Battle music.

Chrono Trigger: A New Song

In this project I will be replacing many if not all the songs of Chrono Trigger with new songs.

I will be using songs from Radical Dreamers, Treasure Conflix, Front Mission: Gun Hazard, Chrono Trigger: Pre-Release, and many others.

Please feel free to give any suggestions on what songs you would like to hear in CT.

The two byte header is a big mystery to me. I really have no idea what it does yet. RD doesn't seem to have them. CT does, but the .spc rips of ct don't. Anyway if any one can figure out what the first two bytes of the spc data in the CT rom does we would really appreciate it.
The two byte "header" is actually the value for the length of the SPC.

Thanks JLukas, we needed that. We were bouncing off the walls trying to figure that one out. JLukas rocks. I'll add that to my tutorial when I release it again. I got another RD song into Chrono Trigger last night. Works even better than the battle music.

Um.. is there to make it use more instruments than just 4? i can't get it to sound right cause of it.

I tracked down the SPC data for Frozen Flame using the method in the guide, and from there I found the pointer table for the SPCs! :D

Awesome Vehek. That will really help me. I am going to be importing the whole RD soundtrack at some point, and I was going to have to find it myself. AWESOME.

Hold on to your pants, because this is amazing.  I managed to get the Radical Dreamers fight music into Chrono Trigger. I documented my amazing adventure and attached it to this post. The instruments still need some work. Feel free to try and make it better. My next project is to see if I can get the whole RD soundtrack into CT.

New Layout looks great. The colors are nice. Fits better with the over all site. The RD kid was a nice touch too. Maybe putting a Magil in the shadows behind her would be ccool. RD Serge looks stupid anyway, we could leave him out lol.

Anyway now that I have said something useful. I want to shamelessly annouce that my profile vargose appears to be locked. I was recently added to Time Illusion's fan project forum, I think something may have went wrong then. I can't even see Kajar Labs. I can't even PM, which is why I resorted to this.

Can you login? What forums can you see, if any?

well the first one definitely involves chrono. The second could involve either lucca or magus really. I think the key here is finding out who was originally part of this tech. Then it will porbably make more sense. But either way the first one is still cool.

Well as far as I am concerned Schala shouldn't even be in the game, but I am willing to let that slide. As long as you guys construct a nicely refined plot, its cool if you take some artistic liberties.

Making Antropos playable and not killing her off would be a interesting change. It is easy enough to do it. She is just a simple pallette change (that is if you leave off the bow). That way Robo can stay in Chronopolis, and the gamers get something new. Granted you'll have to shorten her name, or come up with another.

And I think justin3009 has successfully replaced Ayla with Kino.
