Crimson Echoes / Re: Known Bugs & Beta Testing
« on: May 18, 2008, 05:17:41 pm »
I knew it was near Medina(Belthasar told me that), and since the Mystics don't like Porre at that time, I first thought maybe they were using Melchior's Hut, than that big rock thingy, and last Forest Ruins. I didn't find it, so I used this Forum to find out it was indeed there.
I didn't think to go to 600 A.D., because I thought this "I wish I thought like Toma" was just this guy stating his lack of explorer skill and wish to be like Toma or something...I expected Toma to be somehow in that Lab, because he vanished. Maybe that's just me and other people might get it.

Also, in the last Dungeon: During the part with the split teams, I always have Crono in both teams, like Crono leading team Nr. 1, and after I switch, he leads team Nr. 2(yet he is still there as a NPC, meaning the one you control and one showing him at the other team).
Also, the bridge that's supposed to have both teams go on in the same Area(in order to press these 2 switches next to each other) automatically disappears as soon as a Team leaves the switch, thus the party can't be on the same "side", and the switches to go on can't be pressed.

During the Flamedungeons, I only had to play the 3 of the characters I used, but that's most likely intentional.

Chapter Eleven(The 2nd Marle timeline, after Crono stopped King Zeal), except the first scene, everything is as the 1st reptite timeline. I'm not sure what happens when you finish it, because I used the debug room to go directly to Chapter 12.

Edit: Where is the Porre Secret lab? I think it's supposed to be in the Forest Ruins near Medina, but how do I enter it?

Sorry for not using that wiki thing, but I don't know how much time I have now until I have to leave, and to be most efficient I just post here what I see.

Chapter 6: When you reach Pre-History, your group of 6 is split in 2. I used Magus, Glenn, Crono is that order, but after the splitting(when you are on the Overworld map), Magus was gone and I couldn't move.
After switching to Crono as 1st before time-warping, it worked, yet only Crono and Glenn were in my Team...

This always happens when Magus is in the first team(only 2 characters), and you can't move if he was 1st player.

Edit: He is really in the 2nd Team, instead of Robo. Is there maybe any data thingy that says Magus must be 2nd team? And Robo isn't there during the King Zeal scene -> game doesn't go on.

Edit 2: In Marles Chapter, you don't really see the Forest Entrance(where you have to save the girl) East of the Village.

Edit 3: Terra Tower(Marle Timeline): When you try to open the door using the key AFTER killing the guards, the game freezes(if you try before you kill them, they try to stop you and you can kill them and go on, no freezing then)

Crono Timeline: If you choose the "right" way(Marle opened the right Head in Terra Tower), you are stuck because of invisible Walls in the 2nd Room.

I started right from the Prologue...
Testing it.:
It seems to be a problem of me using my ** savegame, didn't have any problem using a "none **" save...don't ask me how, thou.

Minor things I noted, not sure if some of them are bugs, so I rather post them here(some might also be intentional, what do I know):

-"go to choras" from Medina doesn't work(screen changes, but you are stuck without seeing yourself)

- Gato still hands out silver points, but they are useless.

- Leene's Square's "Food Emporium", isn't is called "empire" or what is it supposed to mean? Didn't find it anywhere...

- Cutscene(end of Prologue) music stops when Magus appears.

- During the first Chapter(Magus alone) you can see the "Character exchange screen" with Belthasar.

Edit:
Chapter 2:
- When Entering the Porre Camp, Crono and Lucca already got their needed uniforms, scrolling somehow doesn't work and you can hardly move around(maybe because Lucca technicalle isn't there, but she is 1st player).

Edit 2: Ocean's Palace Ruins: When you enter, go to the north-western Room, and continue to the left into the next room. You can' go back anymore.

I just started, didn't get that far thou. I added the Chests, because I think it would be a waste not to do it while recording all the other stuff. Like hitting 2 birds with one stone or something...
I also started a "Shop List", like which shop sells something where, because this should also be taken into consideration regarding enemies I think(like, if you can buy Revives, don't worry about one or two characters dieing during a "normal" fight)

The 1st of may here is actually the "day of work", ironically it's a none-working day(like holydays), so most people just wander to the pond near us with lots of beer and enjoy their time. Most people just don't care why they got off, they just enjoy it...somehow sad...

EDIT: Before I forget, I also added areas like Cathedral and Guardia Castle(even though I'm not sure if there will be any battles...) because of tweaking Chests or something...

I started a list regarding what enemies are where which looks like:
Quote
Chapter one (11.998 B.C.):
   Beast Forest:
      1st Room: 4 x 2 Beast, 1 x 1 Beast
      2nd Room: 1 x 2 Beast, 1 x 1 Beast
3rd Room: 1 x Golem Boss (Boss Enemy)

   Dalton’s Hideout:
Trap Room: 1 x 1 Golem  -> Shouldn’t be beaten
2nd  Room: 1 x 2 Lasher
3rd  Room: 1 x 1 Lasher
4th Room: 1 x 2 Lasher, 1 x 3 Lasher
5th Room: 1 x 1 Dalton Plus (Boss Enemy) -> Shouldn’t be beaten
*Note: First number equals the number of fight, while the 2nd number equals the number of enemies per fight.
For example: "1st Room: 4 x 2 Beast, 1 x 1 Beast" means in the first room are 4 fights with 2 Beast each and 1 fight with 1 Beast.

I didn't record the number of rooms, only the ones with battles, and it's from the "older" patch(where some chapter were skipped) only until this "skipping" part.

I might as well resume and expand it with the new patch, especially since most of school is done by now. But don't expect it this week, because the 1st of May is a "hiking with beer in a handcart" day over here, and it might as well expand over the weekend...

Any idea how I should format it to be "more useful"? Like adding the total amount of rooms behind the dungeons name in brackets? Or just add them like "xth room: No Encounters".

Should it also include treasure chests? I think it would be suiting for that kind of list as an overview.
Oh, and by "dungeon", do you mean only areas with bosses, or every area(like for example Fionas Forest)? Shouldn't matter much.

Or did someone already start/finish this kind of list?

Do bosses get their own page or should they just be added there?

While testing, I found this one:
After the decision for either helping Porre, the Mystics, or declare neutrality: If you choose to help the mystics, screen goes pink after going through the first area->crash

Is there anything that mentions chapter 3 to 6? I didn't notice anything until I was told chapter 7 to 11 will be skipped.

Btw. I liked the singing mountain puzzle, but didn't get the frog catching thingy nor the dancing.

For the rock throwing: I think it would be easier for the player to just give them a few choices(like, 10°, 20°, 30°, 40°, 50°), because I'm not sure how many will actually get it, especially considering you can increase/decrease by 1°(imagine you start with 45° and went downwards by 1°...). The idea is to minimize the wide range of none-hits. Can be done any other way, too.

Also I got stuck in chapter 12 after joining these forces, where you have to stop some missiles: Just started invading, jumped down the pipes(or what that is) but can't go into the entrance on the top(ladder that leads downwards).

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Gaspar the Haunter

I know, I just wanted to make clear that he doesn't mean this specific book, because people tend to believe these names have origin in it.

In Christian mythology, Gaspar is the name commonly given to one of the Three Magi who visited Baby Jesus and made him Not Cry with their gifts of frankincense, myrrh, and other good stuff.

While it is possible that Pokemon derived the name from Chrono Trigger, I think it far more likely they took it from the original source instead.

His name is never mentioned in the Nr.1 Christian Source, though.

Yes, but you have an avatar with Black Mage going *stabby*.  Nothing better then that.

Never got that "Stab, Stab, Stabby" thingy.

Bleu's an old immortal woman with a neat attitude. She's just an interesting addition to the BoF cast of characters.
i used her, but i didnt notice anything that stands out about her (from BoF2, right?)

BoF 1, 2, 3 and, if you consider 4 as canon, 4 too. She was only playable in the first 2, was a master in the 3rd, and I say nothing about the 4th, because it might be spoilerish.

In BoF 2, she has really no story, because she is only a secret character you don't really have to get. The only thing is(if i didn't forget anything) that she is recognized by the last boss. In 1 and 3, she helps you defeating the Goddess(in the first game as an active party member, in the 3rd more as a guide). Her reason to  fight the goddess(Tyr if I recall right, I think Miria in the 3rd game) is actually more than something like "Oh, if I'm already awake, why not help you." as she put it. She just kept it as a secret.
And another thing: I think in the 3rd game she had a different name, because of translating issues or whatever.
