Characters, Plot, and Themes / Gaspar : The Guru of Time
« on: July 05, 2005, 12:33:04 pm »
Or, maybe it was a matter of desire. Say, when you just jump between timelines, going from known gate to another, you want to prepare, or maybe ask Gasper for advice (He is your guide during your game, and does instruct you many times on your next objective). Say, with the gate to Zeal, they wanted to find out what that new time was! Or, with 600 AD, they wanted to stop Magus from "creating" Lavos.

The Planet lives. Thus, it will die. Let me qoute Miguel:

---
Don't you know...? There's nothing in the world as ruthless or impartial as
death. All living matter ages over time and eventually dies... No matter how mighty or tiny its life force... So being alive means you're creeping closer to death with every second...
---

There. The only difference is, the Ideal Timeline offers a more positive death (As odd as that may sound). Our Planet, too, will die in a few billion years. All of the deaths caused by Lavos and his forms mark a dark, untimely death, destroying the dreams and hopes of all the people of the planet.

Chrono Compendium Discussion / this is
« on: July 05, 2005, 12:25:39 pm »
Hey, I'm like that too, so I guess I don't have a say about this. I mean, I spend way too much time thinking about the Chrono Series.

1639
No, not yet. Dying, is well, the process of death. The End of Time begins when the Planet dies. In Home World, though, the Planet dosen't get a chance to die or go into a state of dying, it just ceases to exist. Another World, due to the lack of a certain blue haired Arbiter, is lucky enough to avoid that fate, as Lavos' evolution isn't complete without Serge. The Lavos Timeline, the future will meet it's untimly doom, and in the ideal timeline, as far as we know, the Planet will die a natural death.

Yes, I know. That made me feel rather reluctant to post. Still, it's kind of a plot hole. When you go to 600 AD after you return from the future, the gate is unlocked in the End of Time, but sends you to the End of Time instead of straight to Truce Canyon. It's a very odd plot-hole, I think.

In the future, if the Time Devourer is unleashed, the Entity doesn't have a chance to go into a dying mode, it ceases to exist. Thus, no gates. The Dimensionel Distortions on Opassa Beach are there simpley because it was where the Dimensions split... How can I explain this?

Imagine there are like strings holding the dimensions together. On Opassa Beach, the strings are weaker, making it possible to cross the dimensions. Same for the Dead Sea\Sea of Eden, the Time Crash weakened the the "strings" there.

Yes, that's another option. The first one that comes to my mind, actually.

Intrestingly enough, everyone go through one gate, and end up in different points on the time-line, plus the fact that after your first visit there, all gates lead to the End of Time, instead. Meaning, the end of time is simpley sealed off so no one can ever cross it again.

Not in the context of a break, but yes, a Time Stop, when read as a stopping, freezing time can quite definetly be the meaning.

Hmm, in case you didn't notice the Entity was DYING in the Lavos Timeline. The 400 year reunion hints towards it. Let's see if I can give you guys a qoute of what they say... Ah, here.

Robo: After 400 years of experience, I have come to think that Lavos may not
be responsible for the Gates.

Marle: What do you mean?

Robo: I have come to think that someone, or something wanted us to see all
this.  The different events over time, that we have witnessed.  It is almost
as if some entity wanted to relive its past.

Ayla: Ayla know!  When people die, elders say, see whole life pass by!

Frog: 'Tis true that mortals do relive their most profound memories before
death claimeth them.  Yet those memories most often are sad ones.

Robo: Thinking things like "If only I had done this," or "I shouldn't have
done that..." triggers unpleasant, old memories.

Marle: Will that happen when our time comes?

Lucca: Probably... who knows?

Marle: Is there a point in time you'd want to return to, Lucca?

Lucca: No... not really...

Marle: I'm sorry, was that something I shouldn't have asked?

Lucca: It's ok, it's just something I don't like to think about too much.

Frog: Lavos playeth an integral role in the fortunes of this Entity...

Magus: So who is this Entity?

Robo: It is unknown, whose memories these are.  It may be something beyond our
comprehension.  Our journey may come to an end when we finally discover the
identify of the Entity.  Shall we turn in for the night?

They constantly discuss about seeing your whole life pass by. The entity just needs to focus on a certain memory... And viola, we have a Gate!

Quote from: Zatopek
Well, I was under the impression that since the dimensions split in 1010 (when Serge drowned), everything occuring before then is identical to both dimensions.  Lynx attacks the orphanage before 1010, therefore, this has occured in both dimensions.

Lynx attacks the orphanege in 1015 AD.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Why Crono?
« on: July 05, 2005, 08:46:12 am »
Chrono Trigger Game Script.

Crono's Mom: Ah, Leene’s Bell makes such a beautiful music!  You were so excited about the Millennial Fair that you didn't sleep well, did you...?  I
want you to behave yourself today!  Let's get moving, now!

She walks down the stairs and Crono gets out of bed, stretches out and is
set.  Crono goes downstairs.

Crono's Mom: Finally!  By the way, that inventor friend of yours...  Uh... you
know...!  Oh, dear, I've forgotten her name! [Name selection screen].  That's
right, Lucca!  Don't forget that she invited you to see her new invention!
Run along now, and be back before dinner.

~Jump to Telepod scenes~

Lucca: Crono!  Where have you been!?  No one wants to try the Telepod!  How about you?

All of the bold parts state Crono was LATE for the fair. If he woulden't of been late, he never would of met Marle.

Yeah, I think we hit the nail on the head with that one. He just didn't oversleep: He woke up normally and never met Marle.

Hehe, I wonder if he marries Lucca instead. Sounds cool, being as Lucca isn't terrible looking and has a cool personality.

What? That he overslept?

Possible, just dosen't feel right.

Oh, I just had another idea!

Crono was late to the fair, he arrived at about noon. What if he got a good night sleep, woke up in the morning, went to the fair too early to bump into Marle, and got back home?

Crono either overslept the fair, at which point Marle would be caught and escorted back to the Castle, either Crono and Marle never found the Pendent, decided to have a good time although the loss of the precious pendent, and Crono never 'abducts' anyone. Who knows, maybe Crono and Marle are even allowed to remain friends.
