In case anyone hasn't seen it yet, and to tragically prove my previous point, here's Square's TGS lineup:

Quote
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (PS3/360) – Video
Dragon Quest Anniversary Collection (Wii) – Video
Final Fantasy Type-0 (PSP) – Playable/Video
Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3/360) – Playable/Video
Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime 3 (3DS) – Playable/Video
Kingdom Hearts 3D (3DS) – Playable/Video
Fortune Street (Wii) – Playable/Video
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3/360) – Video
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy (3DS) – Playable/Video
Chaos Rings II (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad) – Video
Chaos Rings (iPhone/iPod Touch) – Playable
Knights of the Crystals (Mobile/Smartphone) – Playable
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Professional (DS)

Let's thin the list out by taking out the titles Square Enix didn't develop in-house... that leaves:

Final Fantasy Type-0 (PSP) – Playable/Video
Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3/360) – Playable/Video
Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime 3 (3DS) – Playable/Video
Kingdom Hearts 3D (3DS) – Playable/Video
Fortune Street (Wii) – Playable/Video
Knights of the Crystals (Mobile/Smartphone) – Playable

And now let's take out the major franchises and spinoffs of major franchises... we're left with:

...this is the Square Enix of the new millenium.

Dear god, this is prehistoric times we're talking about. In our prehistoric times, far more questionable relationships than this were necessarily common. There's nothing creepy or even remotely unorthodox about Ayla & Kino.

Though I will offer my opinion that a badass such as Ayla deserves a greater match than Kino, who is an annoying and troublesome character.

She's my favorite. And she's also unarguably the best fighter. No other character can regularly pump out 9999s without breaking a sweat. :)

Well, guess I was partially wrong. Square is developing a new engine with a particular Western influence. Perhaps Crystal Tools was found to be too cumbersome and resource-intensive...

what?????
Exactly.

My point is, based on recent trends as well as statements from Square Enix producers, the only thing we're likely to see from Square for the next several years are Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts games. Maybe the odd action game. Certainly no original JRPG IPs--you can bet on that.

Square suffered (and continues to suffer) massive losses on FFXIV as well as Versus' indefinite development cycle (funny how other, more talented developers are rushed to release a product while Tetsuya Nomura can take as much time as he damn well pleases), and for this Square hopes to make up for lost time by getting as much use out of their crystal tools engine as they can. Hence why FFXIII-2 is coming out so quickly: the engine is there, the assets are there--they'll spend less than half the resources and time developing a game which will probably sell a good percentage of what FFXIII did.

And they'll keep doing it--along with churning out spinoff Final Fantasy titles (especially for mobile systems)--until they're financially secure.

Their Eidos properties will serve them well, but it's just a way to bolster their Western presence. It won't affect their RPG development. And to appeal further to Western gamers, they've even sacrificed some of their traditionally RPG-oriented IPs to the action genre such as Front Mission, a series from which we will probably never see another tactical RPG even though tactical role-playing is the whole point of Front Mission.

Any non-FF or non-Kingdom Hearts titles in the JRPG genre from Square will be outsourced to other developers and published by Square. Mark my words.

Not unless it's called Chrono Break: Final Fantasy ∑π +Alter-Saga+ 77deca Episode-0

Hey, he might not live in Europe, so maybe that's not an option at this point.
I don't live there, and I'm certainly not letting that stop me from importing.

I'd ask him what his day job is. The man's been averaging about 2 games a year for the last 7 years. There's no way you can live on that.

Actually, the place the vast majority of people learn (memorize) the pledge is in school. And guess what? Public schools have been moving away from making the pledge seem terribly important. Though it's always been "optional", when I was a kid, it felt mandatory, like you'd be ostracized for not participating.

Contrast that to the grade 2/3 classroom I worked in this past school year: maybe a quarter of them stood and recited the pledge? It's a dying tradition, and frankly, no one really cares anymore. The people bitching about it are 1) the same people who think being American is the same thing as being Christian and 2) from an older generation than our own. A generation whose beliefs and opinions are quickly becoming irrelevant. By the time they're elderly and ready to keel over, no one will be listening to them.

He orchestrated only 2 of the 14 tracks on MYTH.

I don't want to hear a techno remix of anything; but that doesn't have anything to do with Mitsuda's capability. He's a very talented, creative guy, and can do amazing things with his music. Would a jazz arrangement work? Sure. So could any number of styles. I have confidence in whatever he chooses. Personally, I wasn't terribly pleased with MYTH; the arrangements were dull and the performance anemic. So, I want something better for CC, what I believe to be Mitsuda's best score.

27
Speaking as an experienced composer and arranger, there are a hundred thousand ways to arrange/remix anything. What I'm personally hoping for is, as I posted above, Kirite-style arrangements for the CC album. Heavy on folk styles and instruments from around the world, but focused through Mitsuda's unique lens.

28
You're right. I must have read the OP wrong! Although, the sample posted to Mitsuda's website was orchestral (string ensemble version of A Narrow Space Between Dimensions).

29
Bizarre.

I really hope this hasn't replaced the "CC Arranged Album" Mitsuda's been mentioning for years. I love orchestral music, but CC needs a treatment similar to Mitsuda's Kirite.

Unless he does both, which I'd be totally fine with and would get both. :)

But if not, and we only get an orchestral album, I'll be a sad Nu. :(

Also I must comment on the 140,000,000 BC thing, mainly being that...there's not going to be anything around at that point other than Reptites, IF THAT. (I thought it was rather implausible enough to have humanity stretching for 65 million years.
Who said anything about there being humans during this time? :) Anyway, the Chronoverse uses 65 Ma because that's about when the K-T extinction event took place on Earth; in other words, the era was selected on purpose. Naturally, life existed loooong before that. In terms of terrestrial biology, that particular period was rife with diverse plant and animal species. So, 140 Ma isn't that much of a stretch at all, especially when you consider that, in the Chronoverse, 65 Ma had anatomically modern humans, whereas at that time on Earth we barely had proto-mammals.

I did have a story outline for my Chrono Break--perhaps I'll compile what I've got and post. I'll also try and get a .zip of the soundtrack reuploaded.
