Magic, Elements, and Technology / Re: Magus' red staff
« on: April 19, 2012, 02:33:20 pm »
Instead of postulating on what the stick was made of, we should probably start looking at how he used it, which looks like animation that had more effort put into it. Maybe more than the weapon not working, he was surprised that striking behind the neck and causing a big gash between head and shell didn't work. Usually cutting the head off of something works! So we can either interpret that as a sign that Lavos is more than what he looks like on the outside (yes) or that Magus is just completely unable to beat Lavos on his own (also yes).

Along with his scythe and alternate costumes, Magil keeps collected tea sets (especially teapots) in subspace pockets for convenience.

Except for the attack in 1999 AD, Lavos kind of exists in its own little pocket outside of time and space. In that case, summoning it and opening a portal to it are one and the same. Like at the Ocean Palace.

Doreen is the pendant. This goes against the canon that has her inhabit the astral amulet, which is wooden.
The people of El Nido are all horrifically inbred. Belthesar doesn't really know good science.

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Re: Harle's Fate and Connection to Kid/Schala and the Dragon God/Time Devourer
« on: April 12, 2012, 09:33:33 pm »
Showing how clearly Harle hated to be combined with the Dragon God, it makes it a little depressing to have Kid, who also valued her individuality and ability to make her own choices, succumb to the same fate with a Lavos-addled Schala... But that was what they were created for.

In this thread, post solutions or theories you know aren't canon, bcout that are more concise or more condusive to a happy ending or just plain fun.
the blonde girl at the end of Cross is actually Harle. She fnally became a real girl and is looking for her own "Serge"

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Re: I really, really hate those fairies / dwarves.

I think it was more a thematic thing hinting towards the fact that the humans weren't entirely "native" to the planet, since their evolution was controlled by Lavos, and Cross completely did away with hope and free will ideas.

[Schala]
I have been waiting an eternity...
just for this very moment...~
Meaninglessly hurting one another...
The disappearing life-forms...
The words
that become deleted...
The thoughts
that become buried...
The pool of cells
that slowly evaporate...
The echoes of consciousness
that slowly fade...
Love to hate...
Hate to love...
Why are we born?
Why do we die?
Evolution?
The '"survival of the fittest?"'
What is there to be achieved from
harming one another...
killing one another...
The '"eggs"' that we call planets...
And the innumerable '"spermatozoa"'
which gather around these
that we call life-forms...
When one of those countless seeds
inseminates a planet,
a new universe is born.
But until that occurs,
hundreds of millions of years will pass,
and innumerable life-forms will be born,
then die...
That is the be-all and end-all.
Everything exists for that one moment.
All so that the universe can evolve
into the next dimension...
Does that make us all just pawns?
Are each of our short lives
nothing but a cheap sacrifice
just so the one chosen life-form
can be born?
No. That is not the case!
Each and every one of us
has a chance of becoming
that one chosen life-form
which inseminates a planet.
Yes, it could be '"you"'...
Genes and environment...
Each of us tries to do his best
under the limited conditions
we are each dealt.
Each life-form that attempts to
eke out a decent life for itself
forms a link in the golden chain
that leads to the creation of
a new universe.
If one link is missing,
there will be no future.
There is no such thing as
a useless life-form...
No such thing as
a pawn!
Every single thing
in the whole of nature
is perhaps just dreaming
a dream of '"life"'...
All of them are also
perhaps nothing more than
a dream dreamt by the planet
before it is born.
Oh, but yes...
Eventually all dreams
will return to Zurvan...
to the sea of dreams...
Serge...!
Don't go yet, Serge...!!!
It's alright.
Everything is alright now.
Time, which has been divided,
will be unified again now.
The time for farewells has come...
You will lose all memory of
this whole adventure
and return to your own time.
But this time, you will be able
to live your own life!
Schala was pregnant during Chrono Trigger. The "father" was Lavos. In this speech, she's speaking with the mind of Schala and the Time Devourer, trying to explain that Lavos' species that's usually thought of as parasitic is actually attempting to push the entire universe into an advanced dimension, outside of death and time like Lavos is. Just like how the joining of sperm and egg creates a new life more evolved than either parent. She says that even though not everyone can become part of Lavos like she is, their lives are not meaningless (see parallels to "We have our own will!" speeches from Trigger).
Schala is Lavos, and she hates and loves you all. Especially their daughter, Kid.

Day of Lavos does seem more in the spirit of things. If people don't want to get all apocalypse, they can do something about Lavos as a species.

Dammit, I forgot to make anything for the last one again.
Let's see... The pattern so far has been Trigger, Cross, Break, then RD. So either we go with something from Trigger or come up with another "out-of-series" theme.
Or... NPCs. There's more options for Trigger so it's kind of in pattern, but anything from Cross or RD gives an interesting challenge.
