General Discussion / Re: SakuraCon 2010 - Anyone going???!
« on: April 09, 2010, 08:21:23 pm »
@ Zephira = My friend Kim is depressed to have not run into you at the con. She brought her Queen Zeal costume and wore it a while in the evening (I think it was the 2nd day). And I'm surprised to have not run into you, either. That's the problem with so many tons of people going around all the time. Heh heh. ^_^;

And I think I have a good pic of the Robo cosplayer somewhere. He's unfortunately a bit annoyed at me for telling folks (that Karsh cosplayer, too) that I was going to be Janus at the con... but hey, plans don't always work out (especially when it comes to financial issues). But dammit, no matter what, I am going to cosplay as him for either PAX or AkiCon!!! At least I've got my bud Kim to support me (she's going to help me get a wig).

Yes, the one and only...

(but you could've just sent me a note on this - not post in here)

@ LancerEvo & V_Translanka = That anime was somewhat boring, since none of the main characters involved even talked, and most of them weren't even in it. Totally lame to the max.

I personally think one of the main reasons that SE won't touch the Chrono series anymore is because of the desire to do it right - to have Kato & Mitsuda involved. That, and they seriously love milking their cash cows (FF & KH). It's a depressing shame that they have such an attitude toward us fans.

And I am highly sad over the loss of Silver Lining - I was so majorly looking forward to that, being a long-time & hardcore fan of the King's Quest games...

w00t! Less than 2 weeks now until the con!!!

And in addition to the already EPIC list of guests they're having this year (not to mention the premiere of a new Trigun movie), they just dropped another bomb on everyone - Ryo Horikawa is coming!!!!!!!

(if I were to mention the line "IT'S OVER 8000"*, you might guess who he's best known for voicing)

((* = That ain't no typo, either... heh heh...))

@ LJE = Yeah, but when you're poor, it's sure better than nothing (plus, most of the outdoor cosplay photoshoots are able to be enjoyed; one year, my dad got to participate in the Final Fantasy photoshoot with the FF9-style black mage costume he's become somewhat known for - which was great for him since he was depressed that he didn't have enough money to pay for admission to the con).

@ Zephira = I know, isn't it great! The awesomeness of the DS. <3

Skylark, you could do what my dad usually does every year!

The main hall of the convention center, where all the escalators are, is free to anyone. What my dad does is just show up and hang around there - "cosplay watching" as he calls it...LOL.

@ Zephira = I'd totally love to run into you if I can! And by meetup, I simply meant tracking down one or more folks from the board and hanging out a bit or whatever. Looking forward to seeing your costume. ^_~

@ Skylark & KebreI = Any of you guys going, by any chance?  :kamina

Curious to know if anyone at all on these fine forums will be attending SakuraCon this year.

If so, I'd like to know in order to get a chance to have a little gathering or at least meet up.

I shall proudly be attending all 3 days (4 if you count badge pickup on April 1st), and would seriously love to run into anyone from here if they're attending... Oh, and here is a list of what cosplay costumes I'll be wearing and on what days =

Pre-Reg/Badge Pickup night: Pokemon Fisherman Girl
Friday, April 2nd: "Rokumon" the shinigami cat (Kyokai no Rin-ne)
Saturday, April 3rd: 'Konoha Gakuen' version of Choji Akimichi (Naruto: Shippuden)
Sunday, April 4th: Maximillion J. Pegasus (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

(Rather a bummer, but I planned to also cosplay as a gijinka-ish version of Boota from Gurren Lagann; couldn't find all I needed for it to be done in time for SC, but hopefully I can find the rest in a month or so and get it done over the summer to wear at other cosplay events I'll be attending. Same thing goes with another epic costume in the works - to be young Janus from Chrono Trigger!)

It is always so awesome that whenever I'm on hiatus from the board, there's epic stuff here when I come back.

*seriously drools at the pics of the CT toys from the toy fair* Wha...? They made poor Magus look dorky. >_<

And WHOA - there was a card game made of CC? That is totally epic. *wishes to find & own some*

General Discussion / Re: Gurren Lagaan: Manga or Anime?
« on: November 02, 2009, 12:52:26 pm »
@ Battler = Hence why it's a good idea to watch the anime first, so that the manga won't suck as much when you read it...LOL. But yeah, the manga's kind of lackluster in comparison.

@ FaustWolf = Rogie attends a pretty awesome college, and is even currently working on an animated movie for credit ("Kung-Fu Romance").

Aside from getting praise in digital art magazines, when it comes to his hard work paying off, that's courtesy of folks paying for him to do commissions for them or buying prints of his art (through DeviantArt). He's also thinking of maybe selling some of his best stuff as posters (and possibly T-shirts, though that idea hasn't been in high demand enough).

Well, then... let me have some fun...and post some epic works by my bud Rogie Custodio, largely known by his DeviantArt username of "pokefreak". Though his intensely amazing fan art has earned him uber fame, his original art has been getting major honor by being featured in a few magazine articles.

The Aggressive Grace of Battle

Amadea (character from the first pic)

Water Spirit

Aviator

Random Portrait

And here's one of his epic works of fan art (IMO), to give you an idea of what he's known for...

General Discussion / Re: Where Are You From...?
« on: October 23, 2009, 08:00:28 pm »
I just realized that I never posted in here...LOL...

Was born in Brooklyn, New York and lived there until I was 4 & 1/2.

My grandfather (dad's dad) died and we had to move to Washington state to deal with his stuff/house, and we ended up staying here. Moved quite a lot of times all over the western part of the state while I was younger, though, because of how messed up our finances have always been. Currently reside in the part of Seattle known as Magnolia (which is just a 20 minute busride from the downtown area).

Does it have to be classical art that we post in here?

Because I'm a major fan (and friend, btw) of a modern artist who's work is epic...

General Discussion / Re: The $%*! frustration thread
« on: October 16, 2009, 12:22:28 am »
Since folks have been talking about Facebook, that brings up a frustration for me =

I have a bunch of folks on my friendlist that aren't exactly friends (most of them are either friends of my parents who thought it nice to add me, or people who know me via some of the games on FB).

Like Mr. Bekkler, I rarely ever delete people (recently had to do it, though, to some guy my parents know who's been bombarding me with massively extreme right-wing conspiracy shit, and mind you I'm a conservative and think that guy's beliefs are totally wacko). It's hard to get rid of someone without consulting them first on it, but I'm nervous to say anything. My mom does that (get folks' consent to remove them), ever since this one girl freaked out when my mom deleted her  - because she thought that it was because she'd said something that offended my mom or whatever. *sigh*
