So what is the official word on Chrono Break? I heard it got nixed a while back but that they still had the trades? What is the deal?

You know, the Chrono Compendium is a site, too. Look in Chrono Break's entry in the Encyclopedia.
Thank you. Forgive my Compendium ignorant; it won't happen again.

So does anyone else prefer the PSX version on their PC over the SNES version?

Didn't we already have that sort of discussion in Frog Talks Like Shakespear or something?

Anarcho-Capitalism! That is almost as crazy as Anarcho-Islam or Anarcho-Christianity! Anarcho-Communism rocks though. Or Anarchism in the UK.
I would have to say that there is no such things as anarcho-communism or anarcho-capitalism in the real world in the long run. In order to distribute labor such as a communism requires there has to be an authority(which would in essence be a "state"). In anarcho-capitalism security companies would rise to meet the demand for security and would consolidate into a security monopoly which would also effectively be a state. Minarchism in the very least would result from anarcho-capitalism and a full fledged governing state would appear eventually out of necessity in an anarcho-communist setting. I think a capitalist minarchy would be the best compromise because although communes can exist peacefully in a capitalist state, capitalism can not exist peacefully in a communist state.

Prior to the recent take over by the Islamic courts, Somalia had been in a state of anarcho-capitalism. The militias never did form a security monopoly. They more or less kept to their territory, at least to the degree that there was no monopoly on security.
Let me quote myself "in the long run"
Also the argument could be made that each of those militias is a "state"
According to Webster a state is "a politically organized body of people usually occupying a definite territory"

So what I said holds true. The militias become a local monopoly on security i.e. a state. Not only that but it did not persist in the long run.

General Discussion / Re: There is no such thing as a useless life...

...no such thing as a pawn.

Or is there?

Personally, I'm torn.  I've got high-functioning autism, so I'm forced to wonder: how many genes away am I from falling into the "horribly dysfunctional" category?  The precedent this kind of thing could set isn't hard to imagine; we've seen it before.  On the other hand, it can hardly be called moral to intentionally keep someone with no chance at quality of life suffering.

I don't have time to offer up detailed analysis right now, because I've got to go to class.  But this is the kind of thing that takes off on its own, really, as well it should.
I think we have to ask the question: useless for what? Some would say that if you don't give anything back to society then you are useless, but why should we be sacrificed for the good of society? I personally believe that people themselves are more important then society as a whole. That is why I personally have a problem with redistribution of wealth, democracy, and laws that forbid people from doing things even if they don't hurt anybody else. To me the individual is the most important entity not society.

Emulaters are in no way illegal.  ROMS however are.  Dispite what most people will say, ripping your own cartriges is illegal also.
I haven't posted any links to ROMs whatsoever and I am legally entitled to make backups of my PSX games which I legally purchased. I thought Pyt was referring to posting links to emulators being against the rules of the forums or something, because I know for a fact they are not illegal(at least not in the US or Canada).

Interlacing?  In ZSNES?  Really?
I guess it really isn't interlacing but screen tearing I am experiencing, which I should be able to fix with Vsync I think but the PSX version I didn't experience the same thing even without Vsync enabled. I'll look into it more when I get back tonight.

Watch as those links get removed very soon. They're illegal, y'know...
Illegal as in not allowed on the boards? All the emulators and plugins I linked to are open source or freeware. If they aren't allowed then please PM me and I'll edit my post and take them out. Please don't just delete my post or anything. Thanks guys. Also have any of you guys tried this yet? And what is your opinion on the Playstation version versus the original(besides the load times which are pretty much solved if you are reading off of the HD instead of the CD)?

Would be awesome if that worked. Sorry I don't know much about it, but if it works somehow the way you said I'd be thrilled.

Hopefully someone knows.
Goodluck.
Download the Windows and Linux Binaries Here: http://www.epsxe.com/download.php
You can get various video and audio plugins for ePSXe here: http://www.pbernert.com/index.htm
You can find the correct BIOS files with a quick Google Search: http://www.google.com/search?q=SCPH-1001&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

The only other thing you might need is ISO creation software for putting the game on the HD, but most burning programs have one built in.
I'll do some testing this weekend and compare it to the the loading speed of the FF:C version on my PS2, although I would appreciate if a couple others would give it a go as well. Also I am open to trying other PSX emulators especially if they allow you to play games from a CD image file.

Update:
I am also going to give pSX a try: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSX_emulator

Update 2: OMG! I am hyperventilating right now. I loaded up FF:C in pSX and it started crashing and wouldn't display the main menu where you select which game you want to play but after it make a bunch of wierd noises it totally skipped FFIV and booted straight in CT! It plays the game flawlessly so far(I have only started playing but everything seems normal). Not only that but you never see any interlacing while playing like you would if you are running the SNES ROM on your computer. This is so awesome. I wouldn't keep playing all night if I didn't have an economics midterm in the morning! I think I may be able to play CT the way it was meant to be:quick load times and Akira Toriyama FMV sequences.

current-gen graphics(FFXII level)

In a SNES game?

to make Schala a playable character. Also, more accessible areas like an area in a desert or something to just battle and train your characters. and in this extra area the stronger you get the stronger they get.

Sunken Desert/Fiona's Forest?
Not in a SNES game but if they were to remake CT including all the things we have already mentioned.
Also I forgot to mention more information about Schala, Crono's family, more area to explore in 12,000 B.C. and a more accurate English translation.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Most Playable CT Version
« on: November 06, 2006, 05:57:52 pm »
I recently dusted off Chrono Cross and played through it from the beginning after finding it while I was cleaning my house. Anyways after I finished I wanted to play through CT again but I am not sure which version I should play. I originally played CT on SNES and later using ZSNES on Windows. I bought FF Chronicles when it came out but I didn't finish CT on it because the extras were just not worth the load times. When I was in highschool I used to play Metal Gear Solid on my laptop using a playstation emulator. I searched around today and found ePSXe and it says that you can play games from ".iso"s. Has anyone tried playing FF Chronicles on ePSXe? I was thinking that if you create an .iso of the game and run it from your hard drive you could eliminate the long load times and play CT'99 with almost cartridge-like load times. What do you guys think? Has anyone ever tried this?
