I'd ask him about his job and what inspires his work. Also what his current level of interest in the Chrono series is.

General Discussion / Re: Persona 2: Innocent Sin for the PSP!

I played some of the PSX version's fan translation (which is really great, by the way), but I'm holding tight for this. As boring as P1 is, the remake was really sleek and fast, and it looks like they've given 2 the same treatment. Can't wait!

Yeah now that I think about it, CT does feel rather like Dragon Quest, in tone and style (obviously the latter). It's no surprise considering the influence DQ has on Japan's RPGs in general.

Radiant Historia has time travel and all but it doesn't really remind me of the Chrono series at all, besides the music. That said, what I've played of it is excellent and it's well worth checking out.

I wouldn't say the Golden Sun series is akin to Chrono Trigger, but they do have that SNES-era nostalgic feel. And they're great games! The gameplay of a traditional JRPG with the puzzle elements of a Zelda game... Can't recommend the series highly enough!

The Golden Sun series is a classic RPG, it was one of the few games that stood out during the GBA period.

Problem is it's only popular due to nostalgia and the novelty of having a portable rpg. Having played them again, the Golden Sun games are incredibly generic and far too easy (mainly due to summons). I couldn't sit through much of Dark Dawn because it was just so stale, and it suffers the same big issue as 1 and 2: no-one ever shuts up.

It's just a PSN release, although it doesn't seem like it's out yet even in Japan.

General Discussion / Re: Understanding Square Enix
« on: July 15, 2011, 02:12:13 pm »
I think we should try to keep this as level-headed as possible before the thread slips into its inevitable full Kagero Studios "SQUARE ENIX ARE SOUL-SUCKING VAMPIRES" mode.

While I'm not denying it was a dick move, SE probably only C&D'd Crimson Echoes due to it
a) being brought to their attention
b) coinciding with the sales of CTDS (with the possibility they believed the patch was for the DS version, as its title is the exact same as the SNES one)

Allow me to put Square Enix in terms that we can possibly understand.

Square Enix looks at a project. They look for one thing in that project: $. If they see that the project has potential to bring in $, then they get all  :D about it. If they see that the project has little to no opportunity to MAKE $, they get all :o about it. This negative $ shall now be represented by $

Final Fantasy, to Square Enix, may very well be written as such: F$$$INA$$L FAN$$$$$$$TASY $$$ XI$$$V.

However, it seems that things relating to Chrono Trigger (such as retranslations for the SNES, a port of Chrono Cross, or heaven forbid A NEW GAME) are like this: CHRONO $$$$$$$$$$$$$ BREAK.

Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger have both been recently ported; Cross to the PlayStation Network's downloads, and Trigger to the Wii's Virtual Console and PSN. I'm not sure what you're getting at with "retranslations for the SNES", either.

Site Updates / Re: Chrono Trigger: Episode I July update

I still can't grasp the fixation on making a novel of Chrono Trigger, especially when the game's story can hardly be considered an epic or anything. Plus doesn't most of the enjoyment come from the fact that it's a fun video game?

Crap, so Nintendo of America isn't releasing Xenoblade stateside. Nor The Last Story for that matter.

Apparently that giant buzzing sound you hear is every US citizen downloading the Wii emulator...

Homebrew Channel + Gecko OS or USB Loader allows you to bypass region checks. So it's probably worth importing a PAL copy. It's what I do with Wii games that take longer to come out here/don't get released in Europe. Freeloaders used to work too, but Nintendo blocked those with a patch...

DELICIOUS WORLDBUILDING

Like everyone else has said, the level of detail is superb! This was pretty beautiful to read and I'd like to see where it goes after this. The episodic hack idea is pretty appealing, too.

I associate numbers (and letters, but mainly numbers) with colours, but I don't think there's anything else... I've heard about the other kinds from a few friends though.
