Chrono Trigger DS Analysis / Re: Worth getting?
« on: August 07, 2009, 11:59:13 am »
it is so worth it and i love the new translation, though i'm glad they didn't change some things like the names of Ozzy, Flea, & Slash, their japanese names are just disgusting... they did however fix that horrible speach impediment that Frog/Glenn had...
i don't really know about the new content since i haven't played it much, i'm playing CT between other games and just haven't taken the time out of the main story to explore the new areas and Arena, yes i consider the "side quests" part of the main story...
of course there's the portability, being able to take it anywhere when you leave home for a day or two is always a bonus, i like taking it to my siblings houses and to my inlaws... dunno bout taking it to 7-11 though by time it's booted up and ready to play you've already paid for your Nachos and Slurpee...

i dunno CC on DS they would have to modify the font to be 5x larger than the currently used font to make it readable on the DS Screens... i've played CC on the PSone with the 5" LCD monitor and it was a little hard to read in some points so imagine it on a DS, they would prolly have to remake it from the ground up as opposed to porting it to make it work... sure CC isn't the highest rez game out there but it's still higher than the DS can handle, don't get me wrong i love my NDS but i truly don't think CC would port well to it... there's a major difference between processing hi-rez 3d polygon models and hi-rez 2d models, hence it would prolly port best to PSP, besides it was originaly on PSX/PSone which would be an easier port to do than say totaly remaking it for DS...

*hi-rez in respect to their original systems, in this case the PSone/PSP & SNES/NDS*

sure if it were to use the Classic Control or the GCN control it's far more feasable, and i'd be more likely to go for it... i just really find the Wiimote's shape very uncomfortable when held sideways like a normal conrtoler (i know, the nunchuk), and i really feel S-E would be preasured to use the waggle in some primary way and that's scarry in itself...

just no... i don't think they would rename CC to Cross Treasure or release it on a Nintendo system, if CC get's rereleased/ported it's more likely it will be to the PSP/PSN and avoid those awkward moments the PSone version of CT had with things like the XABY code... porting CC to a Nintendo system would be as bad an idea as porting CT to a Sony system was...

honestly even if they didn't use the waggle i still think the Wiimote is a bad choice for an RPG controler, the button layout is too odd, it would be like trying to play FFX with the DVD remote (i actualy tried it) which is hella awkward... honestly i think Nintendo should have thaught it out and provided 2 different controls one with waggle for their gimmicky games and shooters and a regular controler for stuff like RPGs and the more complex fighting games... when it comes to RPGs i like the buttons to be in a comfortable easily accessable location and the Wiimote does not provide that even when turned sideways, the Wiimote without waggle is the most limiting controler on the market...

as long as it doesn't come out on the Wii i'm all for another Chrono game, but playing Chrono with waggle would be the lowest point in the series... i'm thinking the DS or PSP would be the best format to release another Chrono game on, i'd still like to see Cross come to the PSN for play on PS3/PSP...
