Site Updates / Chrono Cross OST reissued; new arrange still planned
« on: August 03, 2005, 02:12:38 am »
For those who can't wait for Amazon:

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SQEX-10047

and:

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SQEX-10046

I have had no issues ordering from them, the prices are good and the shipping is amazing. Definitely not bootlegs either. Although Amazon will be located in the U.S. the prices will most likely be higher.

Site Updates / CTRP gets C&D letter; Compendium status
« on: May 20, 2005, 01:00:38 am »
Well, can't say this wasn't inevitable. But for a while there I felt as though Sqaure-Enix might leave it alone. What’s so weird is that I haven’t checked on the Compendium or the Remake in quite a while; Just checked back today and I get treated to some pretty bad news. The only good news is this could signify that this franchise is not dead (at least yet) in the eyes of Square-Enix.

General Discussion / How's it look, guys?

Looks great. I just notice a few problems with text and border lines disappearing and reappearing; if they're part of the layout deficiencies disregard my comment. Awesome job to everyone involved.

Ok, I was comparing that unused Lynx portrait with the Serge and Lynx portaits...

While I don't know if everyone else sees it as this, I'd say the one on the left definitely bears an uncanny resemblence to Serge, while the one on the right...doesn't.

I believe that the one on the left definately looks more like Serge, although I never recall seeing an odd picture like that. He might have spoke in an early build of the game, but it may have been thrown out in the final cut.

General Discussion / Forum Style Ideas!
« on: January 09, 2005, 11:45:35 am »
I don't mind how the site looks now but a little variety can never hurt. If people don't like the results they can always revert to how it used to look.

We need a really good looking 12,000 B.C.. This is my favorite era and I believe the same holds true for many. I'll try to find time to put up some ideas in the next few days. I do like the classic board style that's already there.

Editorials and Features / Character Battle Seeding & Pitch

Definitely a good idea, I know that whenever I see one I vote. Using all of the characters from both Trigger and Cross could take a while and would produce interesting results.

I would like to contribute. It sounds very interesting and is an excellent idea. It is important to rekindle the interest that more people had in the series. I would just like to know when that first editorial you spoke of may be due.

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Lavos, The Red Star!

I've never tried, but I still don't think you could skip any parts of the game regardless of any codes you may be able to use. Also if you ever do try any of those Game Genie codes you may notice inconsistencies and erased game data. I know because my friend had a "code" that would allow you to play as Dalton and one that would allow you to play as Schala. But these codes produce enormous instability and the game will freeze whenever you encounter an enemy. He also erased my maxed out game files at the time in one shot.
Don't let people borrow your games!

Sometimes I don't know where people come up with crap like that. That was some pretty bad commentary. It was also bad judgement on his part to post it.
Maybe he should play both games again and try to get it!

General Discussion / Chrono Spinoff Games, Series, etc.

It'd be really nice if they remade the games again for the DS or PSP.  I'm not so sure about new playable characters, since I think that seven characters is just right; there aren't too few, and the game can actually develop all the characters.

Peaceman is right, don't mess too much with a winning formula. New characters would probably not work too well. It could get Square-Enix burned. Just release them on the new platforms a little updated and in regard to Chrono Trigger with the FMV's and other bonuses. Also potential extra endings would not be a bad idea as they would have no real impact on the game, unless they revealed something about the period between Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.

General Discussion / About the official Continuation of the series
« on: December 10, 2004, 09:45:01 am »
I read that the name rights to the next Chrono series game (Chrono Break I believe), has been dropped by Square-Enix in the U.S.. It is my understanding that this happened Jan '04, and that they still retain the rights to that name in Japan (but it is under Chrono Brake in Japan). Does anyone have any other information on it.

General Discussion / CT and SSBM
« on: December 10, 2004, 09:22:54 am »
It would be nice, but the reason why you will probably never see Crono in SSBM is the fact that no one from outside companies such as Square-Enix has broken into that game. Fire Emblem is from within Nintendo. Also Square-Enix relations are not so hot, although they are much better than a few years ago. We did however see Link enter Soul Calibur II which was great. I would rather see Crono in that. However, I think that is even less likely to happen.
