Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: How do you pronounce 'Schala' ?
« on: February 21, 2009, 05:07:22 pm »
I played the game when I was 11 or 12 so yeah I've always pronounced it that way. Shahlah sounds weird though. This reminds me of an argument I had with a kid I went to school with. His last name was Buttram. He always claimed it was pronounced Boot-rum, but I argued it would be pronounced Butt-ram.

I LOL'd at that.. That's pronounced EL-OH-EL

What about RD? I'd say Magus(or should I say Magil?) was like a pseudo-ninja.. He often hid in the shadows and only struck in surprise and wears a mask.  :)

And in CC?

Princess needs saving - Check(sorta), but she is actually a daughter-clone and has an attitude. Other female characters in the party roster would better fit the description of a princess.
Mystical Sword - There's two! Isn't that taboo??
Quest to save the world - More or less.
Kings = Oblivious - Eh, Viper wasn't oblivious and he joins your party! :) He was more a self-proclaimed king though.
Flying transport obtained late in the game opening up all final areas of exploration - I wish, but we'll have to settle for 'floating' transportation.
Advisors to the King are always up to no good - That Lynx, always up to no good.
One character is a kleptomaniac/gambler/womanizer/drunk - Not enough. But was there even a womanizer?

So I guess if some people will say that CC isn't a true sequel to CT, they will have a valid argument. There are kleptomaniac/gambler/womanizer/drunk(s), and that is taboo in CT.

Don't worry, this isn't a troll post like that other one for "How do you pronounce 'Dalton' ".

So yeah, the title speaks for itself. I've pronounced it as 'ssssh-ala' when I was like 8. But then I heard some guy pronounce it as 'sk-ala'.

Now I alternate between the two without thinking about it. How do you guys pronounce the blue-haired damsel's name?

Is the origin of demi-humans stated in CC?

Not that I can find.

Given that they seem to be different than mystics (but we've already discussed the difficulty of classifying a mystic) and not present in the original game, it is usually supposed that they are the result of the Time Crash. More than that is wild guess-work (and even that is tame guess work). Its been suggested that they are a cross between dragonians and humans, that they are humans from the dragonian dimension, that they were created by the Frozen Flame, etc, but everything lacks support.

Wasn't it stated, as the only explanation, that demi-humans were the offspring of the Dragonians from Dinopolis and of the Humans from Chronopolis?

Yeah, I especially loved how you can use a Magic Camera to copy items, but in SO:FD I only bothered with crafting skills until after I landed on Fargett. :( Now playing SO2:SE, my characters are so weak but their crafting skills are like really high. Before ending up on Energy Nede I had mastered all of the Super Specialty skills.

I concur that Blue Mages aren't that 'wow'. In FFV, they were pretty overshadowed by all the other classes(except Bard and Hunter).. In fact, I didn't like FFV AT ALL! haha I liked it even less than FFII, and we all know how bad that one was.. I still can't believe I beat FFII.. Anyhow the only time where Blue Mages shined were in FFTA and in FFXI Online when they first came out and did more damage than Black Mages & Summoners and could heal better than White Mages and Red Mages.

As for using Sprigg, I used him/her for my first playthrough until I got to the Dead Sea, and then way later on when I was able to transform him/her as Slash to use the Z-slash with Sprigg(as Slash), Serge and Kid.. I wasn't impressed so I dropped him/her like a rock after that.

You mean they should just remake Yellow like they did with Red & Green? I always thought that (and wondered why they didn't also do Blue...)...

GB Red Version -> GBA FireRed

GB Blue Version -> (is actually) GBA LeafGreen

By the way, what's so different about the Green version of Pokemon? You could only use Bulbasaur?

That would actually be awesome, and so far based on what we're given from canon for Chrono Trigger/Cross, the only strategy games I could think up of would be one involving the fall of Guardia, where you can play as Porre or Guardia. Or when Chronopolis and Dinopolis are sent back through time and where they discover each other's presence and do battle with each other.
Maybe even the war between humans and reptites or Mystics(fiends) against Guardia... But the last two ideas would be pretty dull lol..

Anyhow to create a strategy game would be very difficult for the first time user and even for a RPG Maker veteran it would still be VERY time consuming..

Right now I'm writing a script to use for RPG Maker, it'll be a Chrono Trigger, but set in the prehistoric era, so I can basically write whatever I want. haha :D I always found that the prehistoric era for Chrono Trigger was always being neglected by the fan base. ;'(

Yeah really I hated the whole Gambits thing.. I stopped playing FFXII after taking a quest that was too difficult for my party's level, the one with the cocktrice and that farm... can't remember the name of that place... Anyhow I remember trying for so long, only to get raped over-and-over by that damm cocktrice... A week later I was told by a friend that I'm way too underlvled for that and would have to wait for about 25 lvls later.  :picardno

I've tried looking all over the internet for RPG Maker VX custom battle systems, they're all made to be like FF6.

I remember at one time where Don Miguel was still a popular name back in the RPG Maker 95 and RPG Maker 2000 days, that a guy had been working on a Tales of Phantasia/Destiny battle system. This guy was making a Tales of Destiny sequel where you would only play Stahn, anyhow I was hoping someone would've been able to emulate that battle system, but after countless hours of searching last night, no dice. :( I think the person who perfects this said battle system for the RPG Maker VX would indeed become famous among the RPG Maker community, as EVERYONE is looking for it. It's 'KING' when it comes to 2D RPG's. :D

The difference that I found were;
-different gym bosses
-different starting pokemon(except for FireRed and LeafGreen)
-roughly 50-100 added from the previous version
-Diamond & Pearl is WiFi! :D

@Jutty:  Um.. 'Wut'?

@Pyt Fumv: I'm glad someone else uses it, it's just too bad that it has that crappy Battle system, I thought it would've kept to the RPG Maker 2003 one. Good luck with making your game, it takes a lot of patience. lol

Yeah, I found that as well, that the first 3(red, blue and yellow) and the last two(Diamond and Pearl) were the best, the rest of them are kind of lame. Probably because not many people play the ones in the middle.

When emulators and roms first came out, I had a friend that downloaded a rom and that you could use both Red and Blue version at the same time on the same screen. It was so much fun, I'd be Red and he'd be Blue and we'd race to see who could beat Brock first :D

Hey FaustWolf, I never thought about it that way, how Lavos might be the result because the Dragonian Dimension exists.. I do understand your Terminator reference, although I'm not very familiar with that series(as I have only watched the 3rd one), but nonetheless I do understand it and I like it. :)
But the typical player can't help but think that the entire Chrono Universe is because of Lavos, therefore anything that exists in that universe must have the influence of Lavos, even the Reptite dimension.
