General Discussion / I'm Hungry!

...so let's talk about food we like!

I've recently come across a neato use fer SPAM which I know is gonna make a lotta people either cheer or wretch.  :D

Take a can of SPAM or SPAM-like luncheon meat.  Slice it up all super-thin sliced.(A food processor works wonders fer this task!)  Put a small pan on yer stovetop an' let it get hot.  Pan fry th' SPAM like bacon.  Th' SPAM won't actually crinkle up like bacon, but it will become hot and crispy!  Once yer done, put th' pan-fried SPAM on to a plate lined with a paper towel.  Viola!  "Meat Chips"!  If ya do it right, it's not hugely greasy an' man is it delicious!

What's some of your favorite foods and/or ways to prepare it?  ^_^

Edit: I say "wretch" because SPAM was a common food fer soldiers ta eat due to th' fact it could keep fer exceedingly long periods of time.  Plus, some people jus' DON'T LIKE SPAM.

A'right...  It's not that fanfiction some'a you might'a seen me mention, bu' they're still awesome.  :D  Though there's a good chance you won't get th' first one unless you've played Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters a good ways through...  X3

I have a suggestion for th' Encyclopedia.  Instead of leavin' th' category currently marked "Sword" fer Crono's swords, why not change it to "Katana"?  As it stands, "Sword" links to not only Chrono's swords, but Frog's swords, th' Chrono Cross swords, and th' Radical Dreamers swords!(Meanwhile, "Broadsword" only links ta Frog's stuff.)  Wha'd'ya say?

Also, since I'm here, Crono's "Swallow" also links ta all of Serge's Swallows as well as th' stats fer Crono's Swallow.  How about doin' like Wikipedia an' specifying?  Like...instead of "Swallow," use "Swallow (Chrono Trigger)"?  I dunno...  Just a thought!

Keep up th' good work, folks!

http://kotaku.com/gaming/kotaku-magu/kotaku-magu-tretton-offers-to-buy-unsold-ps3s-for-1200-235204.php

Long story short, Jack Tretton is apparently so confident that the Sony PS3s are selling so well, he offered Electronic Gaming Monthly $1,200 for each unsold unit.  To quote Jack himself...:
Quote from: Jack Tretton
If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North America that's been on shelves for more than five minutes, I'll give you 1,200 bucks for it.
Now if only this offer extends to the general public...  Hm!

In breaking news: After an announcement from a Sony executive that they will be buying back PS3s at 200% of the retail cost, lines immediately exploded outside of electronics retailers all over the Nation. Reports are coming in concerning muggings, rioting, and chaos that has been unprecedented since November 17th...
Then again, maybe not.  D:

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Theories and Questions on Lavos
« on: February 11, 2007, 12:19:35 pm »
Here's a few thoughts I had about everyone's favorite non-Marvel-based eater of planets.

Lavos, though showing almost no signs of sentience, is still the amalgimation(Woo!  $2.50 word!) of everything that will be, is, or ever was...  So, in theory, could Lavos had been reasoned with instead of beaten to death?  I think so, honestly.  Think about it...  In the footage played in 2,300 A.D., Lavos popped out of the planet then destroyed it.  But, when Chrono's gang when to 1,999 A.D. themselves and confronted Lavos, it delayed its attack!  Why did Lavos delay his attack on the planet when it sensed Chrono's gang?  Maybe it wanted to talk with them instead of fight, but when Chrono's gang showed hostilities, it instead put up the defense it did by mimicking creatures from all time periods!  My theory really isn't all that farfetched, given these facts.  But let's move away from reason for a moment...

What sense did it make to stew for 65,001,999 years under the Earth's core only to pop out and obliterate everything?  Is it one of those "salt the earth so nothing will ever grow here again" sort of things?  Did Lavos want to make sure nothing else could ever use the planet after it was through with it's cycle?  Was it lonely because no one(I'm guessing) came to see it emerge?  Was it tired of "playing God"?  It makes no sense at all to destroy something you helped make and leave...  Unless it was a "spite" sort of thing, I mean.  But that just raises further questions!  Who was Lavos spiting?  The Entity?  Itself?  Who knows...
Tying in with the above, Lavos left three Mini-Lavos...es...on Earth before it left.  But what are the Mini-Lavos...es...doing there?  Are they there to continue to shape and mold the ruined world which the original(as far a we know) Lavos left?  If so, why didn't they simply burrow underground like the original Lavos?  If not, are they just...there?

...where...exactly...was the rest of the world when all this Lavos nonsense was happening?  I mean, where were they when anything else was happening, like when Zeal existed, or when Maou took over the world?  I realize that at the time, there were probably no real plans for a "Chrono Trigger 2"(despite the US Programmers' Ending's cute little message, I mean), but seriously...  It's like the rest of the world just didn't care.  Now, I say this speaking as someone who never played Chrono Cross through...but does El Nido care about Lavos?  Did they take notice when Zeal crashed on their sister continent so many years back thanks to Lavos?  Did 1,999 A.D. El Nido take notice when Lavos destroyed everything in the Lavos Timeline?

There are so many questions unanswered in the world of "Chronos", as some call it...  Theorists like myself do our best to find the answers we can, but sometimes...even we need help...

I say this unto you in the name of the almighty Janitorial Mop.  Hail the Janitorial Mop, friend to all those taking the winding path of Kendo.  Amen.  :x

Other Topics and the Prerelease / Window Colors and Icons

In fiddling around with fake screenshots for my Sara hoax, I discovered something odd that I don't think was ever noticed by anyone before.  Dig this...
Pre-Release Version
Final Japanese Version
Final US Version
Final US PS-X Version
...huh.  Okay, see, I thought there were more differences between the Pre-Release's window color choices and the final's...  But in any case, notice closely #3 in particular.  In the Pre-Release, it's a sort of "blue plating" style.  In the finals releases, it's a shaded version of the typical Squaresoft/Square-Enix "blue dialogue prompt window".

Just thought I'd point this out.

Edit: Added th' US PS-X version!  ...which is th' same!  'cept fer some slight palette differences, looks like.

Welcome / Birthday / Seeya! Forum / Hi-Hi!
« on: February 10, 2007, 09:19:18 pm »
Hi-hi!!  I'm a crazy redhead.  Just as ask Zeality! :3

So anyway...  Greetings, my name's Jessica U. Ingmann!(The "U." stands for "U better watch out OMG"!!  ...not really.  X3)  I am a VERY avid fan of Chrono Trigger, but not to much Radical Dreamers or Chrono Cross.  Now before y'all start throwin' full sake bottles at me, understand that I don't hate either game.  I jus' haven't had a chance ta play 'em real in-depth like yet.  I know a few things 'bout both'a them, as well.  I know that th' good final ending ta Chrono Cross made me cry, fer one, as did th' song that plays after ya preform the Chrono Cross combination properly.  They're beautiful songs...  I really shoul' track down a vocal version'a Dream's Creation.  But enough about that!
I foun' this place once day while zippin' 'round th' Internet and 'ave been kind of "stalking" th' place fer some time.  It never occured ta me ta join th' forums, honestly!  Yet here I am!  Introducin' myself ta ya!

So, let's see...  Chrono-related stats...  Hm...  How about...:

Okay.  After fiddling around with certain things, I found this highly-wanted information...  So here's how you get Sara to join your party in Chrono Trigger.  Some of you may not like this, however...

- In the Ocean Palace, during the Lavos incident, have Chrono walk over to Sara and talk to her.  She won't say anything useful, but do it anyway, then proceed as normal.
- Later on, at the Northern Cape, have Kaeru kill Maou by himself.  You'll get Sara's Charm as usual.  Edit: Yes, killing Maou with anyone else seems to work as well, seeing as you'll get Sara's Charm either way.  I thought you had to kill him with Kaeru alone.  Sorry.
- Equip Sara's Charm on either Marle, Lucca, or your first member if neither are in the party.(You'll see why in a minute.)
- Go on the Death Peak side-quest.  Complete it as normal up until the peak.
- Now, here's where it gets tricky...  If you have either Marle of Lucca in your party, they will be the one to save Chrono from being vaporized by Lavos.  If not, it's always your first party member.  In either case, make sure they have Sara's Charm equipped as their Accessory!
- Everything will proceed as normal.  Once you get into the time lock, however, walk over to Sara and talk to her.  If your character has Sara's Charm equipped, Sara will wake up and blink at you, asking where you got that trinket.  Your character will then explain the fall of Maou and Sara, though upset over the loss of her brother, will join your party.
- Unfortunately, if you save Sara, Chrono stays dead forever.

So to recap, if you want Sara in your party, you not only have to kill Maou, but Chrono has to stay dead as well.  Is it worth it?  Maybe...

Sara's Techs:
☆Thunder - 2 MP
☆Energy Ball - 4 MP
☆Thundaga - 8 MP
☆Raise - 10 MP
☆Skygate - 12 MP
☆Curega - 15 MP
☆Shining - 20 MP

Sara also doesn't use "weapons," persey.  She attacks with a magical force.  Like Ayla, her attack depends on what level she's at.  In addition, her chance to Critical is based on how much MP she has left, odd as it may seem.  Roughly, she has about as much attack power as Lucca or Marle, for comparison.

Sara Attacks Gonzales!

Notice: This article was written as a joke as should not be taken seriously.  Everyone knows that you can't get Sara in your party without ROM-editing or a massive series of patch codes.  Repeat, this is only a joke/hoax!!

I have a bit of an odd request.  I know that the retranslation project is ongoing and whatnot, but I was curious if I could perhaps have someone translate the dialogue from the Japanese version of the game(Chrono Trigger) from the Northern Cape scene.  Specifically, I'd want the dialogue that's had between Glenn(Kaeru), Robo, and Lucca with Maou.  All of it.  From the very start to the very ends.(Yes, both ends.)  If anyone's curious, it's for character research as well as a couple things I may or may not be in the process of writing.  The reason I ask for this stuff is because I hear tale that Glenn speaks a lot differently in the Japanese version.  Like...bone of that Mediveal stuff, but instead, sort of short and rude-like.  Robo also speaks differently, from what I gather, but his dialect is more mispronounciation than anything.

Anyway, any help would be fantabulous!  Thanks in advance!
