This is fantastic news!
If it's a perfect SNES port I'll be happy. Every good addition after that perfect port point is a bonus as far as I'm concerned.
It could indeed be that the fan base has been in the desert for too long but I for one will be happy to play this wonderful game again for the umpteenth time. I'll buy a DS for it to, like someone else mentioned before, show my support.

Congratulations to the well deserved winner.
I like the use of colour in Deezer509's Crono, and the black line Magus by Fuee a lot as well.
I'm surprised there weren't more entries to the contest though. Five entries isn't a whole lot.

Polling / Re: 6/30/06 - What is Chrono Trigger's real flaw?
« on: June 26, 2006, 06:59:02 pm »
palette swapping (can't be helped, I know)
and I agree with the earlier poster who commented on the relative emptiness of the prehistoric era and the future.
Actually I think the chrono trigger world could have done with a little more body and places to go in all eras.
So memory size in stead of palette swapping.

Site Updates / Re: Square-Enix to rerelease 16 games in Japan

Dear Square-Enix,
would you be so kind as to consider Europe for the release (yes only one "re-") of the Chrono Siblings (tm) please?
A continent (well that would probably be a bit on the optimistic side) would be grateful.
It's not as if the English speaking and accepting nations' version needs any real work...
An amount of 30000 cds (what's the official spelling: cds or cd's?) could do I suppose.
What's the price of the cd-rom medium these days again?
Can you spell free money? I suppose this is oversimplifying things but hey.

Thank you in advance sweet Square Enix sweet.
and one more "sweet" just for good luck

oh yes.
one more thing...
Final Fantasy Tactics...(whisper)

« on: May 09, 2006, 09:58:28 am »
Hello everybody,
wire is a material I like to use for drawing things and making objects (mostly animals that spring to mind).
This time I wanted to try and see if drawing after an existing piece of work would, well, work.
I hope it did, and that you can enjoy this translation effort.
(I hope it actually shows up as well)

Site Updates / Re: Square-Enix Pre-E3 Press Conference
« on: May 09, 2006, 09:33:32 am »
There was the announcement of a dragon quest title for Wii as well.
Even though it looks like it could be an adaptation of that standalone plug-in sword game title, three of the usual Dragon Quest big guys will be contributing. Two of which were members from the dream team, namely Yuji Horii and Akira Toriyama.

I know it may be clinging to straws in the wishful thinking department here, but it's still good to know there's still a working relationship between former "Trigger" members.
But I believe similar sentiments were already expressed on this site about a colaboration between Mitsuda and someone else (Horii as well?).

Here's hoping the virtual console will boost Chrono Trigger awareness at Square Enix by means of an overwhelming download of the original Chrono Trigger.
(virtual snes sequel anouncement next year anyone?)

a man can dream

Polling / 3/31/06 - Would you buy a console for a new Chrono game?
« on: April 01, 2006, 09:28:29 pm »
As long as money wouldn't be an issue I would buy a console for a new chrono game.
Like it was with the poster above, Final Fantasy 7 was a deciding factor in my decision to buy a playstation.

The thought of being able to download the original chrono trigger to the nintendo revolution is already a factor in me wanting the thing.
Even though I've played the game many times already.
(that and after playing warioware twisted, I believe this revolution could be great)

I think it was a good move not to go for the rather obvious game announcement joke. I like the thing you did a lot more.

Polling / 11/19/05 - What'd most important for Chrono Break?
« on: February 28, 2006, 01:38:04 pm »
Deep story as far as I'm concerned.
Mitsuda and the characters come in a shared second place.
(oh and even though Chrono Cross looked beautiful I wouldn't mind sprites and hand drawn backgrounds)

Congratulations!

It was great to read the Ted Woolsey interviews as well.
Especially since one of them was from Super Play, a magazine which unfortunately "died" in 1996. It was British and had a dedicated team with a great love for games and a special place for rpg's.

It must be very nice to see your (combined) hard work pay off so well.

Polling / 5/29/05 - What's your take on the C&D stuff?
« on: May 24, 2005, 05:33:34 am »
option 2. I think square has a right to protect chrono trigger and they should.
That said, I do think they're overreacting and their actions hurt Chrono Trigger at least as much as the "protection" aspect of these actions.

But aside from the C&D letter and threat to sue, what can Squeenie actually do about the project ? (Buy him out boys!!)

If inspired people want to make something, they'll do it anyhow.

It's not like SquareEnix will be monitoring the airwaves.
Or do they have a system which tells them the location of every CRP member's home? Each of them being collected by an escort of magitek armor riding soldiers. "Hello I'm Vicks, and these are my buddies Wedge and Piette and you've been bad"
"You're in a pickle now sonny!"

Maybe Square wants to make sure something like a Seiken Densetsu 3 transation never happens again.
Neill Corlett is still walking on this planet though.
(no, no that's what they WANT you to believe)

Fan projects like these help to maintain and create intrest in a ten years old game. And wouldn't Square profit from that?
That would probably justify a rerelease of their own (or a real sprite based sequal anyone? not that I don't like CC).
But seeing as this is not how Square seems to be thinking it makes sense for them to take the try-and-shut-them-down course of action.
