Characters, Plot, and Themes / Re: Question: Norstein Beckler
« on: March 15, 2007, 12:40:59 am »
I'd like to add something to you theory/comparison between Bekkler and Zeal.  I just noticed earlier, that if you beat his copy game (the one where you follow a clone of your character) after saving Crono, you get to keep the clone you played against.  Basically, if you beat it with Ayla, instead of Bekkler saying "The clone will be at Crono's house" and putting the clone of Crono in his room, he says "The clone will be at Ayla's house" and he puts a clone of Ayla in her hut (which is in the prehistoric ages) .

He can do that with all of your characters too.

How does he go through time and put the clone there, he has no gate key to go through the gates, and even if he did, the only gate in 12000BC is on an abandoned island (Magus' clone appears on the North Cape).  How does he even know where they live?

The thing is, when you go to fight Zeal in the Black Omen, the room you fight her in has clones of each of your characters, odd isn't it?

Toriyama did ana amazing job with the non-human characters, even though his design for humans gets a bit repetative.  Perhaps he should do Frog, Robo, and all of the enemy designs, while someone else did the human characters.

Magic, Elements, and Technology / Re: Tabs, where'd they come from

It is possible that the Zealeans didn't so much invent tabs as they invented a means of manufacturing them. Think diamonds.

That sounds right, since there were other magic tabs lying around in 12000BC while the person in Kajar says "I'm working on a tab that boosts magic ability", so perhaps he meant he was learning how to duplicate and produce more of them.

Again, that makes no sense. If the Planet is to recover, why would the Planet bother creating Gates and sending Crono and the gang on their journey in the first place? The Planet does not care about the humans, only for its own life. If it was just humanity dying out I don't think the Planet would care. It's a misinterpretation on Zeality's part, though definitely an understandable one.

Even if the planet would recover, perhaps it didn't want to get beat down in the first place (or just plainly hated Lavos).  A guy could recover after being kicked in the 'nads but wouldn't he prefer that it be prevented, or at least get revenge on the perpetrator?

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Re: Mystic Eyes in Chrono Trigger

Well, Magus' eyes might have naturally changed colour over the years, the same way Schala's hair turned blonde.  He's the only one who we see at different ages, and in Schala's case, she could have spent a long time in the DBT (if that makes sense), or her exposure to Lavos could have sped up the process.  This doesn't explain why Queen Zeal still has green eyes and blue hair though...

When you look at the gold-only picture, the middle part looks like the ocean palace.  Perhaps he's using the same design that was used to access Lavos' energy, but he put his own twist to it: so instead of taking energy out of Lavos' pocket dimension, he takes Lavos himself out of it.  One of Belthasar's talking 'tabs' says that "Lavos existed under the planet's surface draining its energy until he was momentarily summoned away by a wizard in 600 AD".

Magic, Elements, and Technology / Tabs, where'd they come from
« on: March 05, 2007, 12:10:41 am »
The timeline articles say that magic tabs were invented in Kajar, but where could speed and power tabs have come from?

I disagree about magic tabs being invented in Kajar because in the prehistoric era, you can get a magic tab as a charm form Azala.  Could the reptites have invented tabs? They seem pretty smart and could even tell that the Gate Key had some kind of advanced function.
