We can remove one of the medina people to fix the palette overload.

Is the palette data a pointer to a central location of palettes?  Or is the frozen flame overwriting the Masamunes palette?

Both Falling Leaves and Masamune use the same palette number. Chrono'99 changed the palette data corresponding to that number, changing the Masamune too.
The original palette data was overwritten.

Ok,

So my crude drawing above was correct the palettes are stored in a central location.  I'll try to move it to the palettes used by fireball/flame NPC's.

Could you make a patch pointing the unused NPC's to the vanguard soldiers?

I made one a while ago so I wouldn't have to keep on copying them over.

Lunar IPS (LIPS) Version 1.00
Apply IPS Patch Log

Offset    Size    RLE    IPS_File_Range       IPS_File_Size
------    ----    ID     00000000-00000004        5
1A39C4     298    No     00000005-000002A1      29D
241008      17    No     000002A2-000002BD       1C
3800A1       1    No     000002BE-000002C3        6
3800AA       1    No     000002C4-000002C9        6
3800C4       1    No     000002CA-000002CF        6
3800E0       E    No     000002D0-000002E2       13
380129       1    No     000002E3-000002E8        6
------    ----    EOF    000002E9-000002EB        3

Total Patches: 7 (7)

When I apply the Frozen Flame patch I get this log.  I'm assuming that 1A39C4 must be the graphics sinde it is the largest size.  Is 241008  the palette?  Also is what is the difference between Size and IPS_File_size?

241008 would be the palette.
I'm not sure, but IPS file size is likely how space it takes to store it in the IPS.

I kind of wonder what's with spots like 3800A1 being modified.

Yea that confused me too.  Maybe chrono 99 edited animation data too? I know it opened up and closed

According to the offsets guide, those spots would be in Gato's exhibit's event code.

The only solutions for Kasmir I can think of right now are re-pointing or manually copying over data to fix the overwritten packet.

Edit-
Finally made a modifed Kasmir patch.

Here is a new Frozen Flame Patch I made it only has this log file

Lunar IPS (LIPS) Version 1.00
Apply IPS Patch Log

Offset    Size    RLE    IPS_File_Range       IPS_File_Size
------    ----    ID     00000000-00000004        5
1A39C4     298    No     00000005-000002A1      29D
------    ----    EOF    000002A2-000002A4        3

Total Patches: 1 (1)

I didn't modify what palette is uses though I'm not sure how to do that...i'll look into it more later (i'm gussing it uses the masamune palette).

If someone wants to make it use the Flame palette go for it.

EDIT:

Hrm:  I changed it to the flame palette and it looks pretty bad.  The way I changed it was using chrono tweaker and I have no way to preview it before hand.  Is there another program where I can view how it'll look w/o loading it into the ROM?

I tried Pink Lunch Bag/Red Star/Red Flame

Can Someone make a patch that changes the character portraits and that's it (those were replacements and didn't use any unused space correct?).  Also can can someone make a patch that changes the menus to red  the method to do that is explained here:

Have you guys chosen final portrait arts for the characters yet? I can palette reduce if necessary and do the portrait patch.

Someone with a better eye for this sort o things should make that decisions.  I think feedback liked all the portraits except magus?  But that was AWHILE ago.  This sort of thing we could probably poll the compendium for?

Do we have a listing of the source arts for the portraits used in the latest demo? We could get thumbnails of the source artworks, and maybe pull in some more art to compare them against and get a poll going soon. That should answer everyone's questions as to whether Crimson Echoes is "still alive," since most members probably can't see this board.

Crono's the example in the portrait tutorial.
All of these images come from this forum's avatar selection, because I don't know where else to find them.

Magus:

I'm not sure where Marle's portrait came from.
