I suppose that's more evidence of how variable the humanities can be.
It's incomprehensible, I say! Incomprehensible!  :o You'd think that the only colors in existence would be Red, Blue and Yellow. No! There are eight colors. No, there are sixteen colors! No, there are twenty-four colors! No, one-eighty, I tell ya! Shut up, the numbers are over a thousand. No, millions! So many colors than even the human eye is limited to what it can see!

Hey, that old-fashioned grey printer mocks me!

That said, I'd like to go to college and study literature. Hopefully I get the right opportunities at Australia.

I have family in Australia! It's a great country and education there is very cheap. Not to mention the entire island is just beautiful. Careful for the over-sized animals though (SPOYDAHS AS BEEG AS YA HAD, MATE!)

Alas, at its heart, academia is little else but windbaggery. What makes it work, though, is that there is truth buried in all that bluster.

Tush, to note, percentage v passing is variable at American institutions, but generally goes up 10% per degree level. To pass high school, usually a 60% is sufficient. Bachelor work is more variable, but 70% seems to be fairly common. Master's level, 80%. Ph.D., 90%. But rest assured, half-assing remains at all levels.

It's been the opposite for me here. During high school, passing was 70% or higher, and here at College State it's something like 65%. I wouldn't know for sure, since I haven't done too terribly in the college setting, but I do know that to get an "A" you need a 93% in high school, but only 90% here.

So, am I safe in assuming that this is a very varied measure?

Well, looks like it. I asked a friend today about the passing grades in private schools and college, and his was also 60+. Apparently I'm just lucky, but I'm glad to know this tidbit from you guys, especially in regards to foreign education.

@Thought, Truthordeal, Saj: Thanks a bunch!

You went there too? XD Spoydahs or no Spoydahs, if you can live with battling head-sized poisonous insects right out of your bed and before you brush your teeth, it officially makes you a badass! And it's worth it -- you get to live in heaven!

12th Doctor (much like the 6th): Impartial data due to missed colors, comparison, senses triggers low compression on primitive neural systems, which grows chaotic and thus rendering bewilderment as links begin to repel and break.
Companion: Doctor, what does that mean?
12th Doctor: It means you're an idiot. Now stop asking questions, I'm trying to reverse the polarity!

I really hated the 6th Doc, but I wonder if anyone's capable of making him "lovable" like they make other apathetic characters. XD

Our script-writer and I were discussing soundtracks for Polar Detective and he shared this tune with me via mail. I'm in love with this track!

With the current discussions about "Books" and "Nooks", I've decided that I really want this: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/nook-simple-touch-barnes-noble/1102344735

Simple Touch, 2 months on a single charge, $99. Roughly two months of my salary, which should be cool. Unfortunately, such things aren't sold in India, and even if they did they'd undoubtedly be 3 times the actual amount (meaning, $300, or roughly six months of my salary).

Why do companies like to rip off us Third World countries?  :?

I LOVE HC Bailly's Let's Play videos.

He does kinda go overboard on his catch-phrases, but I still find the guy hilarious.

My only gripe is that he doesn't know how to pronounce SCHALA correctly.

It's my favorite kind of weather today. It's drizzling, cool, windy, and classically overcast--that gray veil covering the sky. The mountains in the distance are grayed out, fading into obscurity. There has not been a day like this since I arrived here in February.
