Amen. The Compendium is truly special -- few franchises enjoy such thorough research, organization and resource gathering within the fan community. I was just reflecting on this while entertaining my interest in the
Ogre series. I'm like,
where's the one-stop shop? Where's the freaking Ogre Compendium when you need one? Sometimes I'm just confounded that fans of other franchises see fit to get by on generalized Wikias and scattered message boards. That, more than anything, is what's always kept me coming back to
Chrono over the years.
The truly amazing thing is that this just organically happened without any oversight from the developer/franchise owner; if it weren't for the founding members here,
Chrono wouldn't have had quite as much longevity. That's what I believe anyway. Creatively seeding things like the Chrono Compendium c(sh)ould probably be the biggest tool in a franchise owner's marketing toolbox, and that's what makes the Compendium not only a cool community, but a watershed in videogame history. Naturally one can't discount the fundamental strengths of the series, but there's an incredible, spontaneous human element at work here too.
Yadda yadda yadda.
