Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Am I missing something?

This is true. So can we agree that somethings are incredibly easy to change, and others less so?

The Save Points had to be my most WTF?! moment in CT. Imagine, an 8-year old playing, when he suddenly is assaulted by the very things that worked to help him. Needless to say, I avoided save points up to Zeal, if only because I kept getting game overs, and was also getting into tons of trouble for leaving the SNES on while I was sleeping/at school.

Some kids feared the Boogie Man, I feared Save Points.

Edit: spelling errors

The one with Flea where he says beauty is power, and the one with Ayla talking about Old man dead on inside. Great quotes  :D

If it is any consolation, your sister seems to act as most younger siblings do: annoying, yet lovable, children.

So HE can change it.

Those are a few major occurrences that didn't change...Why would they have changed any of that from happening anyways? One major change because of their actions we see through the events of Chrono Cross.

Sorry if my post was confusing. I meant to imply that nothing is set in stone, while at the same time nothing changes with the snap of a finger.

And I only used those examples to show that not everything changes fluidly. Take Fiona's Forest. It wasn't something that was easily changed. It required a lot of effort and energy.

Worst thing would be some 10 year old kid who thinks he knows everything saying to someone else "You don't want that game, I already tried it. Its like zelda, but like a gazillion times worse. Try this game. Call of Duty 4."

Me: *eye twitch*
Gamestop employee: Oh yeah, it is one of those chinese knock-offs of Phantom Hourglass
Me: *permanent eye twitch, jaw slightly agape for all eternity*

Also, is it just the Gamestop I go to, or are Gamestop employees all over total liars. Because not a single one has ever known anything about a game unless it was an FPS. And they act like they know about other games, even ones they didn't know they had.
Yes, I made the mistake of trusting them on the Lunar game for the DS. I found out the hard way it wasn't a remake of the original.

General Discussion / Re: Turn Based Combat
« on: August 16, 2008, 09:16:36 pm »
I think Onslaught hit it on the head. There is a stigma, especially amongst younger gamers, that RPGs are for nerds. That, or gaming companies, which still seem to believe that all gamers are teens and younger, and that teens and younger aren't patient in giving the time required for the standard Turn-based RPG. Which is why you see the trend towards more action-oriented RPGs. They don't require as much thought, in the gaming companies views.

I hope that the above is comprehensible. I spliced most sentences at least twice =)

Forget $100 or less, I'd go for more! $1000 is where I might hit my limit cause I'm not rich. I'd proceed to hurt people in venomous ways if they put up a higher bid(I have toxic lips :P)

Alas, I'm super super poor. Maybe when school stops draining all my money, and I can save, would I be willing to up my ante. That, or I'm just a cheapskate =]

If it makes you feel better, I read it occasionally. It has some nice essays ^.^

even though the whole point of Chrono Trigger is that there is no fate.

It isn't that it is fated to happen, just that Crono and team failed to change it. If they had gone about it differently, things might've been different. But we can also see that, as the Prophet, Magus is making sure the end results are the same. He essentially prevents Crono and co. from interfering in the timeline of Zeal.

Also, in Chrono Trigger, much ofhistory remains the same, except for everything 1999 onwards. The reptites still fell. Zeal still fell. The Mystic army still fell.

Kilfer, I feel your pain. My sister did the same with Wild Arms, Beyond the Beyond, and Megaman X4. She was trying to do something for me by cleaning the discs, and she used rough paper towels to do it. Good intentions, bad results.

I <3 Harle. How can you not, with that cutesy face and adorable accent ^.^ She ranks up with Robo and Azala in best Chronoverse characters =)

OMG, if you were somehow able to make that CG an actual model, I would buy it, supposing, of course, it was $100 or less. I am a college student...

But you have truly amazing talent with CG. I hope it brings you joy all your life =)

Well worth the price of playing as Azala!
