Okay, been busy trying to learn Blender AND getting it to model somethin for meh. So here's some screenshots of a model which is only gonna appear for 20 seconds on screen. XD Yeah, I work hard.

Presenting the SNAKE DRAGON (WIP)!

Hmm, not bad for the beginning of a model.

Okay, did some materials. Initially tried to paint the dragon orange and give it flaming hair, but it looked like Charizard and the fire sucked.

Oww!

...so I made some changes. Now the fire's removed, and the dragon's turned into a devil.

RAWR!

Problem though: how the heck do you change the outline width in Blender? I know you can set the black cartoonish outline by going to Render > Post Processing > Edge. There's the threshold, yeah, but you can't adjust the thickness. o_O

Hmm, perhaps render a larger image then scale it down will make the outline look thinner. XD

xDDD You, sir, win the Nobel Prize of Common Sense, because not even the talented 3D artists have actually thought of that yet! (Seriously, they haven't)

Thanks! But this method wouldn't really help if I've got "fire" and "particle dynamics" in the scene. >.<"

FUCKIN TAMED THE BEAST AND BLENDER ALIKE! Albeit my first time with Blender, and despite the lack of documentations and very annoying bugs, I've finished modelling and rigging. No tutorials kinda sucks for a newbie and I had to improvise on most parts, but this is certainly NOT advised for other newbies. Yeah, I'm an exception, and I feel how frustrating this is.

Still...

Next up, the animation.  8)

Looks good. Are you going to texture it? because the shape is great, but it's so smooth and boring D:

Still, looks good.

I put a high-res Normal Map on top of a low-res model.  And it's Toon Shaded to make it look like it's hand-drawn. What texture do you mean though?

I know the appearance is boring, but this creature only appears for a couple of seconds in the animation. The "illustration" though will be appealing for the viz novel.

Daww bad news, Bekkler. Unfortunately major scale rendering when using the smoke simulator (trying to make some fire) takes too much time preprocessing occlusion.  :? Guess I have to make fire the 2D way.

Great stuff so far, watching this act of creation unfold is really making me giddy.

All the problems you're having with the flame on this dragon reminds me of an interview on one of the Lord of the Rings DVDs, where someone was explaining how much trouble the crew had doing the flames on the back of the Balrog. If I'm remembering this correctly, I think they had to set up a big fire in real life and literally splice that footage into the movie, but maybe I'm getting the story backwards...

XDDD That statement of yours kinda inspired me to make tutorials on that sort. You see, some people (like blockhead friends of mine who are in the same line as me) think that the "only way you can pull special effects like that is to get a $999 software like After Effects", but I assure everyone that's not the case. I can do the exact same effect with Synfig and Blender (both are free). Just that the former is not convenient to use because, although easy for effects, has tedious import method.

Yet, FREE HOME MOVIES! 8D

Man, Blender's buggy! >_< Shading's gone wrong, fire's aren't rendering when I got it "just right"!

Anywhos, here's what's coming. See? Shading's gone wrong. But I still love that glowy eye effect from the Composite mode.
