2300 A.D. World Map
« on: August 04, 2010, 06:11:17 pm »
Hey guys, sorry if this has already been answered before, but I tried doing a search on my iphone but the results wouldn't load correctly. I was talking to a friend of mine a few minutes ago and he told me someone mentioned to him that you take damage over time on the 2300 world map, is this true? I can't check it out atm, I'm in a hotel for 3 days attending classes for a new job. All the years I have played/owned this game I never heard of this feature.

I've never heard about it and it's never happened to me.  It sounds to me like your friend is mistaken.

Just a quick update about my post, I did a google search on it and in some walkthroughs it does in fact mention in it. Anyone have thier CT around to try it out? According to this guide it says to linger on the world map "awhile".

Sorry if this post is a double post, Im getting in and out of 3G coverage alot so some links just wont load such as edit >_<. Anyway I'm gonna post the link and the quote from another site I found stating it does in fact damage you. "Death World: Prolonged exposure to the elements while walking around in the overworld of 2300 AD will inflict damage on your party." from a website that resembles a wiki at http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ChronoTrigger, it's about 1/3 of the way down the page. Edit > Find > 2300 helped me to locate it.

I've heard that "rumor" before as well and have tried it before. But never have my characters taken any damage. I didn't know if it was only in certain ports or not, but I've never seen any evidence that it was true. Not saying that it's 100% false, I've just tried and never experienced it before firsthand. I believe I tried it on the DS port, and possibly on the SNES original cart.

I don't think I've ever saw my characters loose HP in there. Perhaps since I never stayed long, and the times I did was in the Epoch, where obviously it wouldn't work I guess.

Anyway, I think this was discussed in here somewhere... maybe. :?

Yea I think I heard about that too...every time the lightning strikes or something...I don't think it's true.

It's a myth: just ran an emulator test on high-speed. Twenty seconds and sixty lightning strikes later, no damage.

The DS port isn't any different. Not that I was expecting it to be, but I wanted to be thorough.  8)

In case anyone's wondering, this rumor is being pushed on tvtropes, which has a few examples of incorrect info (like the timelines).
