Actually, I just finished playing through CC while not going through the Glenn route, and I managed to get the scene, but only when I got back to Home World to get the Ice Breath, after the ghost ship. I tried to view it when going to the Hydra Marshes, but it didn't show then.

This was a new game+ after having done the Glenn route on the previous save though, not sure if it matters.

I was thinking about how the Dimensional Vortex opens up in all your games as opposed to the one you beat him on (as is usual in recent RPGs, you save a "Clear" game save and go on to do the extra stuff, some of each gives the idea that it occurs after you have defeated the final boss). Then I came up with this:

You beat Lavos for the first time, send it to the DBT/TE, and it merges with Schala. This then causes the Dimensional vortexes to appear in every dimension (saved games :P). Now when you load a saved game, Lavos is still alive in that dimension, you haven't defeated him yet, but he was already defeated once and sent to the DBT/TE. Which means the Dimensional Vortex and Dream Devourer events would be experienced by the party before beating Lavos. The Magus you see on the TE would then be the Magus from the party that actually beat Lavos and sent it there (and that is what Magus is saying when he comments on how it might not be the future from the dimension you've come, since you still haven't beaten Lavos (but he did)).

I'm not too knowledgeable about the Compendium theories on time travel and dimensions in the Chrono Universe, so I don't know if that even made sense. Just thought it sounded interesting and wanted to see if it helped the discussion.

And there's the obvious problems like what happens if you didn't recruited Magus in your first playthrough, and why he is still using the prophet's cape (I personally think it's because it looks cool:P).

I decided to use the Treasure Atlas function to show the location of the new equipment in the Dimensional Vortex, which I've attached to the post. Curiously there are two areas in the Dimensional Vortex for 2 300 AD that I don't remember seeing, and there was a Master Crown in one of them.

And for me Crono's ideal equipment was Rainbow, Haste Helm, Nova Armor, Golden Stud. The defense given by these items is lower than Prism Helm and Moon Armor, but I decided Auto-Haste was more useful (it's only 8 less points of defense). If you liked that setup, you'll probably want a Master's Crown and Regal Plate for him. The Master's Crown gives the same defense as the Prism Helm and also gives Status Immunity like the Prism Helm, but gives a boost similar to the Sunglasses in addition. It doesn't give Magic Defense but you probably won't need it since the Regal Plate gives +10.

Well, my personal opinion is that Haste Helms and Nova Armors are still the best for the guys (although you might wish to equip stuff that boosts Magic Defense if they haven't maxed it yet), and you can even get 3 Haste Helms per playthrough now (as opposed to only 2 in the SNES version).
The best for the girls has to be the Angel Tiara and the Regal Gown, as I've mentioned previously (but you only get one per playthrough unfortunately).

There are still some items that might be useful, like the Master's Crown for males, which grants Status Immunity and gives a boost similar to the Sunshades (and it stacks with Prism Spectacles :)), the Saurian Leathers, a decent armor that also gives +3 speed and +3 strength, the Elemental Aegis seems like a nice armor for Lucca, and the ShadowPlume Robe gives Magus Auto-Barrier (and I think it's his best armor defense wise). This are the ones I remember right now, I might make a more decent comparison tomorrow morning, but I'm going to sleep now.

Well, those two items can be equipped on any of the girls (but you only get one of each in a game). Except for Magus, the guys can only get Haste and Status Immunity, or Protect and Status Immunity, as there are no new items that give them those traits.

You have the ShadowPlume robe for Magus that gives Auto-Barrier, so you could have him get Auto-Haste and Auto-Barrier, or Status Immunity and Auto-Barrier in addition the the options available to the others.

I have no idea why it's Lucca only, but I prefer to give her an Angel's Tiara and Regal Gown anyway: Auto-Haste, Auto-Protect, Auto-Barrier AND Status Immunity. What's not to like? :)

Actually, as was mentioned earlier in the topic, the Dreamreaper is found in the 1000 AD Dimensional Vortex. The ShadowPlume robe is found in the 12 000 BC one. And the Venus Bow is also found in a Dimensional Vortex (I am almost sure it is also in the 12 000 BC one), but the area is the same as the cave in the Lost Sanctum area.

I also have a question: Could someone tell me where to find the lumicite shard? I think it's the only thing I'm missing.

Go to the second Emerald Mountain screen in 600 A.D., and keep entering and exiting. Towards the top, a Wonder Rock should eventually appear. Be ready to Charm.

Thanks. I had already found a Wonder Rock in the 12 000 BC Dimensional Vortex, but didn't know they dropped/could be charmed for a lumicite. I went there again (I tried for a bit at the Emerald Mountain but it just didn't want to show up :() and found it on the second try.

And Dark Serge, it's used to get Elemental Aegis, an armor for Lucca that apparently nullifies elemental damage. You need to give it to a Reptite in the Lost Sanctum in 600 AD.
