Site Updates / Re: Server move complete
« on: August 20, 2007, 12:52:24 am »
Problem fixed. Apparently IE's rendering engine chokes on tiling small images, so I just redid the pattern images to be bigger. Didn't make much of a difference in filesize (they were so small, it was mostly header data to begin with), but IE should scroll nice and fast now.

EDIT: If you visited earlier, you might want to clear your cache to make sure it takes effect.

Much better! Wow that was a really quick fix, I guess it was just a minor problem with the background images or something. Kudos on the new design, I have to say I was really impressed with it. Great job!

It looks excellent but I don't know if its me or everyone.  The site loads up fast but it scrolls unbelievably slow O_o...Maybe it's just my computer...<_<  Other then that issue it's awesome.

It's not just you. I'm having that same problem too. Though I don't knwo if it's because I'm using IE or not. And yeah, the new site design is impressive, but because of this little problem it made me think less of what it really is.

Crimson Echoes / Re: Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes Demo 2 Feedback

Here's a hint: no progress is being made.

How come? I mean I already knew this from having read it it in a few other posts, but what exactly is the reason? If I may be so bold as to asking the head of the hack team project himself.

"it's pretty easy...i just go: "1,1,3" and 1 is at 99 percent, and i still miss....but w/e, i'll try beating all the other dragons first...althought i can't see what that has to do with anything????? and thanks for the PS-A location.

That's odd. Hmmmm... Have you ever had this kind of problem with another steal, or is it just for this one? Let me check it out in one of my files and see if the Black Dragon really does have an incredibly high evasion rate. I remember he was tough, but that's all. I never really had any problems with stealing. Specially if what we're dealing here is a common steal. The real troublesome ones to get are the rare steals. But, in any case, as you said, I doubt it has anything to do with the order in which you kill the dragons. You should probably also try upping the hit% of the number 1 attacks as much as you possibly can (i.e. select "3,3,ElementTech-Pillage" with Fargo). That'what I always did, and I rareley missed stealing from ANYONE.

Edit: Yeah, the reason why he's so tough is because he does have a high evasion rate. You should try equiping a SightScope on Fargo (if you haven't already), that should help things a bit. He did evade a lot of my physical attacks. The trick to getting the steals to be succesful is, as I said, to perform an attack that actually hits and then selecting Pillage. If you do that, you won't have any problems (except if what you're going for is a rare steal item, but since this is not the case here you don't have to worry about that).

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Armor
« on: July 04, 2007, 12:36:32 am »
Thanks dankun but in cross my characters serge, glenn, and fargo. so the stardust cape would be worthless and where do I get the prism mails.

You're welcome. It's quite a pain to forge them and is expensive also. You can only get so much, considering the fact that there are only 20 rainbow shells in the game (one play through). Plus, there's the fact that you need to get at least 1 of each of the shiny materials in order to forge them. Since the Lv.7 white summon is only for healing purposes, you can't really do this until you've beaten the Sky Dragon and recieved the Saints summon.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Armor
« on: July 03, 2007, 03:33:40 pm »
Which are the very best three armors?

In Chrono Cross, the three best armors are:
1. Prism Mails (highest DEF & M.DEF values)
2. Ghetz Shirt (highest evasion rate of all)
3. Stardust Cape (child size only - high evasion rate boost & good defense)

In Chrono Trigger, the three best armors are:
1. Moon Armor
2. Nova Armor
3. Prism Dress (for females only)

how can i pilfer the Black Plate from the Black Dragon, his evades are rediculous! i even used Nimble(or is it Numble?; the one where it decreases the evade%) and i pilfered with Fargo after that, and its still a miss! i even waited until he was weakened, used Nimble(or watevr) and then Pilfer, and its still a miss!!!! how can i successfully steal it? and, is there a Pendragon Sigil A in the game, B is Low-Mid level elements only...i imagine PS-A is Low-High, right?(if there is one) if there is a Pendragon Sigil A, where can i get it? i have  B and C...

The reason you're not able to steal the Black Plate from the Black Dragon, is because you're probably trying to steal it without performing any physical attacks prior to selecting Pillage with Fargo. It seems that the success rate of ALL steals in the game are intricately connected with the hit% that was last displayed for that character's number 1 attacks.

As for your second question about the Pendragon Sigil A, there are only three in the game. One of them you can get from Dark Serge after defeating him in Fort Dragonia as a common drop; you can also steal a rainbow shell from him (rare steal). The other one is in Mount Pyre (Another World) through the wall after sliding down a downhill slope of boiling magma. It's in one of the chests that sits atop the platform in that room (you have to leave the lava unfrozen to be able to get it, or else it will be too slippery to climb). The third and final one comes from Dario, it's a rare steal.

You have to try and use the astral amulet at Opassa Beach, before talking to Marge.

Time, Space, and Dimensions / Re: Guardia Royal Line Paradox
« on: June 07, 2007, 11:14:21 pm »
Hehehe.... I think I finally got this one figured out! :D

Okay, bear with me for a second here. I've had this theory laying around for a while now, never having posted it because of my own personal issues (lack of self confidence) and not wanting to create a new topic for it.

I developed the theory trying to use only as much proof of actual in-game evidence to explain this paradox, as opposed to the rest of them based mostly on other assumptions (like using the entity to explain everything); therefore making some of them seem as something that is not really convincing enough, since they don't make proper use of much evidence, to fully explain or give us a reason as to why they are to be believed in the first place.

First of all, consider the following part of the script concerning the Moonlight Parade ending:

Marle: You're my distant ancestor.
So you'd better have tough kids or I'll be in trouble!

Kino: Heh, Heh!
No worry. Ayla VERY strong!

Marle: Right!
(puzzled by this, she pauses for a few seconds, blinking repeatedly)

Marle: Hey... what do you mean by that?

Now for my theory, consider that Ayla is not really Marle's ancestor. In other words, she could NOT be the one who actually gave birth to the descendants who would eventually become the Guardia royal family. She simply cannot be her relative, as the paradox would come into effect, and we know that never happened, besides this is NEVER really stated in the game. So the general assumption should be, from now on, that only Kino is, which is mainly because of two reasons: 1. Kino is the one introduced as to be her kinsmen. 2. The above scenario that was quoted from the game, DOES make one raise the question that Marle asked Kino, and never got an answer for.

I guess the only reason people assumed that Ayla was to be considered also as her kinsmen is because she gets married to Kino in the playstation ending. But, other than that, the game never makes this evident in any way. Now, for some reason people don't find it strange that they don't get along very well and are very untrustworhty of each other. Ayla yells at Kino for having taken Crono's stuff (the Gate Key) because he acted out of jealousy thinking that she probably liked kim best. This clearly demonstrates the nature of their relationship. They don't trust each other.

For example, like I said, in the Moonlight Parade ending, Ayla yells at Kino (yet again) for having said the above statement to Marle when she mentioned that she would be in trouble if they didn't have strong children. It seems, that Kino's comment was more focused towards the word 'trouble' than 'kids' and answers her that way, as if to say something about their own problems. Ayla then calls him a 'dummie' and immediately prones to take off to their time (as if to shut him up), before he says something 'stupid' (anything else) to Marle that's none of her businesss. Like for instance something about their personal relationship and what it exactly involves?

So if you take into consideration all of this information, you can get a very plausible answer to this paradox. And the answer (if you follow the Ockam's Razor Principle) is this: Kino, being the real ancestor to the Guardia Royal Line, was able to time travel to 1000 A.D. to the Moonlight Parade Ending, because he had already fathered a child in his time period (who knows, perhaps during the time that Ayla was gone for the adventure with the team), and therefore not creating any Time Paradox in doing so.

P. S. I realize that there already is a theory called Alternative Ancestors by KerntheGerm & Daggart that tries to explain this, but doesn't really go into any in-game evidence or details that could demonstrate this further.

Chrono Trigger Modification / Re: "Unofficial" TF Exports Thread
« on: February 09, 2007, 02:02:39 am »
The only difference is WoW is a waste of money. >__>

Not as bad as FFXI.
I still say WoW...That game shoulda never been made imo.  It's a mockery of the Warcraft series >_<

Same with FFXI.

I couldn't agree with you more, nightmare975. I just really hate the fact that so much more people around here are completely against the mere thought of something that could potentially 'hurt' Square Enix financially, especially when we have all been waiting for seven LONG years already for them to come up with a new entry in the Chrono series. I am seriously baffled at how everyone's supposedly taking 'matters into their own hands' with all these simple, downright ridiculous, just plain irrealistic ideas and still continue to play THE GAME that decidedly ended all our hopes for a better future, a future where more Chrono games would be allowed to exist.

I mean, seriously, do you all really believe that Square Enix is going to suddenly stop continuing support for a game that could milk at least $20 off someone per month, and then suddenly is going to decide to give 'some' of the fans what they actually want? No, I'm sorry to be blunt and realistic. There'll never be another Chrono game, not even a remake or port of the original one anytime soon. I don't think it's even gonna be 'rereleased' for the Wii's Virtual Console. Why? Becease they simply don't want to promote any more support for the series. The reason? My theory is that they don't want to create any more 'chrono fans', so that they can also start asking for another chapter. The evidence? The rerelease of the Final Fantasy games for the Playstation in Europe excluded our beloved game: Chrono Trigger. Don't like it? Me neither, but I believe that's the truth, at least until FFXI finally gets 'boring' to almost everyone who's played it and seeing that it's already been quite some time since its release (around six years now?) I really don't see that happening any time soon. Wanna make a difference? Kill the game that killed our series by ending your financial support for it! That's right. We CAN make a difference: Destroy their precious 'little' Final Fantasy XI income, and maybe they'll come to their senses.

I know this is off topic, and should have been posted in a different Forum thread. I don't care, because I really don't think that any good productive idea is going to come from that particular one. I'm sorry not to be as positive on the whole issue as some of you clearly are. I just wonder what it'll actually take for the entire community to finallly loose that attitude towards Square Enix... five more years of waiting, anyone? No, that probably won't be enough. Who knows, maybe I really am mistaken and they finally do come up with something...sometime down the next decade.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Re: royal families
« on: January 31, 2007, 10:35:57 pm »
Besides, for all we know, the Guardia line runs through Kino and that any female suitor of his would've sufficed.

I am willing to bet that is actually the case. Otherwise there would be no other possible way to explain why the Guardia Kingdom would still exist without Ayla being there in the first place to start the royal line. Besides, in the moonlight parade ending Ayla hits Kino and calls him a 'dummie' when he mentions something about her being 'very strong' and then says that they should go back to their time. I never understood why she said that to him in the first place, being that it's such a random thing to say.

One way to interpret this is that she said it because she actually knew that she was not a distant relative of hers but that Kino in contrast actually is? Maybe she knew that he was cheating on her and that's the reason he mentions how emotionally 'strong' she is and in the end they find a way to resolve this and they still end up married (as seen in the psx ending)? Or maybe perhaps the men at that time were allowed to marry more than one, and Kino actually had a child with another woman before he met Ayla?

In any case, I disregard completely the possibilty that Ayla is Marle's 'distant ancestor'. Plus, when Lucca introduces them after bringring them before the King and they each say something about what Crono has helped them accomplish, only Kino is introduced as her 'kinsmen' excluding Ayla explicitly form the prospect of being related to her.

This is why I will never buy FFXI or FFXII or anymore FF's until they release Chrono Break.

I knew there was some underlying evil plot to FFXI. If only I had known I had been delaying Chrono Break. I've finally kicked that habit now, but I played FFXI on and off for three years since it came out and even bought both the expansion packs. All that time and money aiding the enemy... what a waste.

I always wanted to buy and be able to play FFXI, though now that I know it may have hurt Chrono Break's chances I'm glad that I never did.
I've been thinking about buying FFXII, seeing as how it does seem to be a good game. In all hontesty do you really believe that to go ahead and ignore it and not buying it, will help in any way for Chrono Break to happen?
