"Those Who Devour"

  • The cult stops in Medina and witness Slash meeting with Fiona in the city center, Slash having summoned her for agricultural advice. Wittel and Raqh part ways when Fiona is kidnapped; Raqh refuses to help someone like Fiona who has little chance of seeing things his way. Wittel joins Slash in rescuing Fiona from Ozzie's New and Improved Super Fortress (just the Magus' rundown citadel), fighting Flea a few times along the way. It just so happens, however, that Fiona suddenly possesses magic ability and defends herself against Ozzie and other captors. Fiona leaves Medina due to the unstable political climate there.
  • Slash brings Wittel to his headquarters, where a scant meal serves as thanks for Wittel's help. Slash's lieutenant Sprigg - who happened upon the Sacred Mirror in Ozzie's SuperFortress - drags the item to Slash's hideout and it is in returned to Wittel's care.
  • Wittel attempts to alleviate Medina's situation by garnering food aid from Choras but his attempt at heroism backfires; both he and Slash are taken into custody and shipped to Guardia for trial and imprisonment. Brione does manage to convince her father to spare a few malnourished Imp children Wittel had brought along as proof of Medina's suffering, and she vows to care for them.
  • During the trial of Slash and Wittel, Slash's history as an enemy of Guardia is explored and Wittel is accused of attempting personal ownership of a holy relic. The Sacred Mirror has been brought to Guardia as evidence and Edmund testifies against Wittel to this effect.
