Ah, my bad. I've been told it's not cool to quote a post when your post is coming right after it.

And KebreI, if that is you, then... DAMN.  :)  You almost look like a Super Saiyan. Just saying.

Ah... Ha ha... T.K.'s here! You know it's gonna take a turn for the better when T.K. turns up!

I usually post in the intros very often, to welcome new members to the lands I roam, but I haven't had the time to lately. It's something that very much peeves me, when I am unable to do so. *thinks and laughs*

What are you people talking about? What the heck is cosplay? And Boo was right.. Not so hot.

Actually, I changed the pic from one that I thought was only cute (http://www.thefinalfantasy.com/forums/members/v_translanka-albums-random-googled-ff-cosplay-picture288-ffviii-rinoa-so-cutesy-you-just-want-pinch-her-widdle-cheeks.jpg) to one I thought was more 'smoking', so Boo was replying to the older one...and he was, I think, comparing her to one of the other ones (I forget which he commented on...prob Rikku)...But I still say he's wrong regardless of what one he's talking about, but w/e peels your cherry...

As for what cosplay is...while it's a fairly easy to breakdown word, my further advice is simple: www.justfuckinggoogleit.com

Ah yes that Rinoa = not so smoking indeed.

Not. So. Smoking. Indeed...

The way I see it is you set the bar with the Rikku pic. All future pics must be > or = to Rikku pic in hotness.

I somebody clicks on his first topic and sees this stuff on it, what do you think they will think he's like? Another thing- Y'know my morals? Take em and multiply them by 1000, and you get Asafigow's morals.
Title: Re: asafigow says hello
Post by: V_Translanka on January 12, 2009, 10:52:10 pm
idk...I guess they'll think he's kind of a prude who cares too much what other people think about him & apparently thinks that what other people say will somehow change what they think about him. I think he can change though. It's all about perception...It would probably also depend on who's reading it, I guess...there are a lot of douchebags out there on the intranets.

In the end, though, who cares what other people think?
Title: Re: asafigow says hello
Post by: Asafigow on January 12, 2009, 11:06:41 pm
Um... actually I have a theory (and this seems to be mostly true) that peoples actions and reactions, at any one time, can have anywhere from 5-50% effect from other people around them.

In other words, people might think I'm bad because I allow others to post stuff like that picture of yours on my welcome topic.

"allow"...? I don't see why they would think you have such control over the actions of others...and those people that are so effected (affected? I forget how that works all the time) by others sound like d-bags who don't matter like people that see violence & feel the need to perpetrate violence themselves...if you meet some of these people because of what I've said or done in your thread here, you have my permission to tell them to STFU & GTFO.

& I kind of like the way this discussion has turned...we're getting to know one another...!

Whenever you post V, I always think You're being an Ass. Then I think about them, and you ussualy have a valid point underneath it. Are they supposed to do that?? And Asafigow, don't think too bad of them. They're not really bad, they're just goofing off. Chrono Eric especially isn't an ass or anything, they just picked the wrong welcome topic to talk on.

Rinoa, Rikku, Lulu have nothing against this manly man. His rugged stubble is so intense it no other character in the whole game can compete. He doesn't give a f*&% about your damn Ultimecia, your Sin, He is going to complete his dreams. He will fly among the stars.

While I would perhaps agree that Rinoa, Rikku, and Lulu have nothing against the champion awesomeness which is Cid, I submit for argument that the champion hotness which is Yuna does (ha! Beat this one V):

Now THAT is a nice Yuna!

Asafigow, so you know, cosplayers dress up as people from video games or TV shows, more specifically anime. Final Fantasy, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and really popular things of that nature are very common. They show up at conventions a lot.

For random cosplay... see, the problem I'm finding is the more obscure things that I'm into aren't all that good. Too many girls do Utena's princess costume wrong! Uh...can't find anything decent. Heh.

EDIT:
Oh, poor Leon... I can't tell if that person is male or female. Then again, sometimes you can't tell with Leon, so... eh.

What?...huh? Oh, right. This is probably the last time I'll be posting on this topic. I feel welcomed and all but Nerd was right. V, you make very good points, but you act like a jerk when you do. Shadow you're all right, but sometimes you can be annoying. Don't worry though, I have to deal with annoying kids every day of my life, so don't fret my friend. And also, thank you for the offer to teach me the world of the internet, Teaflower.

Lenne, I think - and it doesn't really matter if it was Lenne herself or Lenne/Yuna. Hotness quotient is still the same.

And, Asafigow, I'm really sorry that I've apparently hijacked your welcome thread...Let's all stop this cosplay pic posting at least...

Yes, I agree. It was fun while it lasted though. Sorry if we offended you Asafigow with hot chicks in Final Fantasy garb. Although I disagree with you on a philosophical standpoint - I believe the world is in fact a slightly better place because there are hot chicks in Final Fantasy garb. Yes, a better place indeed.

... that Squall looks female... I still say my Leon kicks some serious ass. He's not Final Fantastic! I win!

Well Squall didn't exactly have the most masculine outfit. It's hard to rock that look.

Enough. With. The. Cosplay. I'm getting Asafigow to lock this topic, nobody has been saying anything about Welcome, just stupid Cosplay pictures. Me, teaflower, Chrono Eric, and V_Translanka are the only one since the 2nd page to actually welcome Asafigow.

Hey, while they may be stupid, they were at least hot.  :D Most of them anyways...

Yes, yes back to the welcoming. You are more than welcome here Asafigow. Think of the turn this topic took in a different kind of light. Every good welcome should involve a welcoming present, right? In this case we gave you the gift of hot cosplaying babes.

I thought random images for welcoming threads was a regular occurrence at all forums...

Anyways, again, I'm sorry if anything any of these eff-ups () has done has made you feel anything but welcome, asafigow. btw, are you ever going to explain your SN? Or, wait, was he serious about not posting in this thread anymore?

I honestly was still wandering if I would post here. I said to myself I would only post here if any questions popped up. Apperently, one came up so by SN you mean signature right?
Title: Re: asafigow says hello

Uh, no, SN=Screen Name...but, uh, sure, where's your sig from too?
Title: Re: asafigow says hello
Post by: Asafigow on January 14, 2009, 12:35:11 am
Well, my 'SN' is actually a name a came up with when I was about seven years old. I don't remember how I came up with it, but I do remember I didn't know what to use it for. So soon enough it became my computer name. No one else knows what it is so if you find it anywhere else you'll know it's me.

My sig, if you notice, actually changes from time to time. I'm always coming with something mind boggling to say, but if you ponder it you'll actually see that it is just another word of wisdom.

OK then well since it is a shame that you would decide not to post in your own welcome thread then I have other questions for you.

Tell us a little about yourself asafigow, you know, so we can get to know you and what-not. So far all we know is that -

1) You know hyper nerd

-and-

2) You don't like pictures of cosplay chicks

So, perhaps you could tell us some more about yourself? What kind of stuff do you like to do? What do you consider to be important in life? Do you play any instruments? What do you want to do in the future? etc. etc. misc. things like that.
Title: Re: asafigow says hello

3) You don't seem all that intranets savvy (certainly a plus in the real world)

4) You like Chrono something-or-other (...right?)

Let's see... what do I know about Asafigow?

1. He's a dude.
2. He lives in Cali.
3. He's a Chrono fan (or at least, he's damn good at pretending he is).
4. One of his friends is HyperNerd.
5. He's in 8th grade.
6. He's not Internet savvy.

Fill in the gaps, please?

Ok, ok.

Things I like to do consist of, well... lots of thing of things. Board games, video games(mostly RPG and Kirby), RP, Hockey, band(I play baritone), just to name a few.

If you want to know what I want to do in my future, look at my SoY topic.

Yes, of course I love CT, I've never actually played CC, though, and I don't know if I want because of how freaky Harle looks. Because of Chrono Trigger I might never play FF ever again for CT is just so much better.

Being internet savvy just isn't my thing, but I'll try and learn as much as I can.

You know what you two should do?

Gather yourself with a large enough group of friends around the Risk board.

Risk kicks ass, man.

I'd come join you, but we're, like on separate sides of the universe or something.

You obviously have no experience with Axis and Allies then, it dozen times deeper then Risk is. I had a single game last 11 hours straight, granted the 10th hour started to drag on but the 11th was intense!

How many RPG's have you played Asafigow? There's so many great ones out there besides just Chrono and Final Fantasy. I'm under the impression that you are relatively new to RPG's too, right? Have you played Final Fantasy VI? That game is up there with Chrono Trigger as one of the greatest RPG's ever made.

Then there's Xenogears. Amazing game, nuff' said. Although if you are easily offended, some of the underlying themes in that game may bother you some.

There's also the Star Ocean series, especially Star Ocean 2 on the Playstation. One of my favs.

Western RPG seem to go under represented here. If you liked the fast paced combat of trigger as oppside to many other time of RPGs then try out Knights of the Old Republic. Baldur's Gate full of detail and freedom yet unlike Oblivion and such there is still a clear and intresting plot. If your new to RPG there is a Deus ex or system shock with is an AMAZING hybrid of RPG and FPS.

Yeah... The thing about asafigow is that I introduced him to RPG's quite recently ago. The only RPG's he's played other than CT is FF5, and he never beat that because of CT. hmm... Yeah. And he has no PSX, 2 or 3. The only system he has is a DS lite, and his computer... He WILL Have a gamecube soon, once I get it all working and primed for him.

Well, there's a lot he can do with the internet (which he obviously has) and the right sites.

Figow (might change his nickname later), you should try emulation. They work great for systems prior to N64 and the like. Get compilation games, if you can. They have good stuff in them, man.

As Nerd said, I'm limited to GBA and DS games. Always have been. Though I've also tried that Mario RPG and it was pretty good. And remember, I said I also I loved all Kirby games. Kirby rules. (>'o'>)  :) It would be cool if someone made a Kirby RPG, but I don't think it would work out since Kirby games are fast moving and you usually kill things in less than a second. Nerd's told me about emulaters. They sound ok, especially since you can ROM hack. Also, FPS... what? :|

The world of emulation is awesome. You should get into it. Like, seriously.

I do believe that FPS, in that context, refers to first person shooter. What you do is you run around as someone with a gun. And you shoot stuff.
Title: Re: asafigow says hello

I know what first person shooter is, just not what it's been abreviated to. After spending the night at one of my friends house and playing Halo3 and A Lot of Star Wars Battle Front II I've gotten better at shooting games. Though I still can't PvP unless it's againts a five year old.

Man, I LOVED Oblivion but whoo that plot was DRY!  Fun game, though.  Not to mention they spent all the $$$ for the game on Patrick Stewart and his once scene and the jabroni from Ronin (which is still a great movie).  FFVI.....III?....VI?.......yea VI was a great game too, as was Mario RPG.  Just recently played FFIV.....II?.......IV?.......yea IV not too long ago and was laughing out loud, alone, at how ridiculous the dialogue was.

I never played CC either...tried to get it working on emulation and let's just say it didnt go well.  Also, while not "RPG'S" per se. the Ogre Battle games were great.

Well, then you're in for a treat, Asafigow, because the GBA & DS has a shitton of great RPGs & SRPGs (Strategy RPGs ala FFTactics)...

GBA

Advance Wars - Great SRPG series revolving around a more modern warfare theme (instead of knights & mages you get soldiers & tanks)
Breath of Fire & Breth of Fire II - Great 16-Bit (SNES & Sega Genesis era) games. II is one of the best in the series even.
Fire Emblem (Blazing Sword) & Fire Emblem & the Sacred Stones - Another great, classic SRPG series, much like Advance Wars, only this one is the basic swords & sorcery stuff.
Golden Sun & Golden Sun: The Lost Age - Two of GBA's greatest RPGs. You should definitely check these out.
Mega Man Battle Network I-VI - Great series of games whose genre is part action RPG & part card battler (gameplay is better than it sounds, but can be hit or miss with some people)...Story's kind of campy, but I think still fun.
Riviera: The Promised Land - Probably my fav GBA RPG. Great series (Dept. Heaven) of uniquely styled games.
Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon - Another oldshcool gem SRPG. The Shining Force series is a great step to take if you're new to SRPGs, I think. Gives you the basics in a fairly easy to manage way.
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis - Probably my fav GBA SRPG (and in general one of my fav games, I think). Lots of great customization. This is what FFT fans wanted when they heard about FFTA (which is ok in its own right).
Tales of Phantasia - Another great RPG from that bygone 16-Bit era. Kind of nerfed, but that's actually a good thing because the old encounter rate was GRUELING. The only in the "Tales of..." I've played, but I hear the rest are great too.
Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone - 2nd entry in the Dept. Heaven series. Interesting take on the SRPG genre.

NDS

Disgaea - Since you don't have a PS2, I assume you haven't played the other version. This is a great SRPG. One of the best.
Final Fantasy IV - This is the version of FFIV you should play.
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon - The first of the series comes out in English, finally. You don't need to play this one to get the other ones, but you might as well play this one since it's pretty good.
Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time - If you liked the other one (or, wait, did you play Superstar Saga for GBA?), you will probably like this one too.
Mega Man Star Force - The spiritual continuation of the Battle Network games. Minor changes in gameplay, but still just as fun a series.

Lots of great NDS RPGs on the horizon as well...

Asafigow, when you get the GameCube, you WILL play Super SMASH Bros. Melee. No excuses. It's a great game and worth a few days of playing. You won't regret it. HyperNerd, can I trust you to get the game for him, if he can't get it himself, so that he can play it?

Meh, those seem like such button-mashers...if you're going the Fighting game route, it has to be by Capcom or SNK in my book...I guess I'd accept Soul Calibur too, though...maybe a little light-hearted Dead or Alive bouncy action as well...

Soul Calibur is my fighter of choice, but don't doubt the strategy involved in Super Smash Bros.

Lets see that a good DS and GBA list you have a computer too? Well all of my games I suggested are for PC so give them a shot, although Kotor might be a little taxing unless it a gaming rig.

Scratch that, when you get the GameCube play Skies of Arcadia. It is a truly awesome and fun RPG. It does almost everything right that an RPG should, even if the battle system is a little old-fashioned.

The world of emulation is awesome. You should get into it. Like, seriously.

I do believe that FPS, in that context, refers to first person shooter. What you do is you run around as someone with a gun. And you shoot stuff.

My ePSXe emulator works better than my real playstation  :D. I play all my games on it. I'm playing Grandia on it right now. All it takes is some slight tweaking to get the video and sound to run properly, but it's no biggie and it definitely beats digging my playstation out of storage every time I want to play an old game.

I'm still waiting for Sega Saturn emulation to be efficient and...dun dun dun...Panzer Dragoon Saga. I would kill to play that game again. I usually don't download games that I don't personally own myself, but for that game I would make an exception since it runs for $700 a pop now and I'm still kicking myself in the ass for selling it way back when for less than $50. Oh, and Shining Force III too. Man there were a lot of awesome Saturn games now that I think of it. Burning Rangers too.

Sammy (now SegaSammy Holdings) is the publisher of the Guilty Gear games. Arc System Works is the actual developer. I'm not sure what you mean by off the beaten path though.

Schala Project is amazing. My only gripe is they followed Woosley's crapstorm of a translation. If anything, use the CTDS script, if not the Compendium translation. Otherwise, I love how it's coming along since I got removed from offering suggestions.
