What did you like most about Chrono Cross?
« on: July 25, 2012, 02:59:45 pm »
Hi, I am w0rld, better known as the leader of Project Zero Game Design Team.
I'm making a tribute of sorts to the game Chrono Cross.
While it is not strictly related to Chrono Cross, several of the ideas have been carried over.
So what I am asking is:
What did you like most out it?
What characters, places, plot twists, or anything else stick out to you?
Please respond with any and all thoughts.

What did you like most out it?

The music.

Best video game soundtrack I've ever heard.

  • Music
  • Art
  • Chronopolis (Personally, for me the biggest "oh shit" moment in gaming. Placing it at the disc change was a wonderful design choice.)
  • Healing option at every battle's end
  • Fargo
  • PO-SHU-SHUUUUU!!!

I'm not aware of Project Zero. Could you tell me a bit about it?

Googling Project Zero turns up a survival horror game series, though I doubt that's what he's talking about.

Karsh being a badass.
Like Kodokami said, the art.
That "WTF" moment when you switch bodies with Lynx.
How introspective it was.

The music.

The art.

The color.  (El Nido is one of the most colorful game worlds I've ever seen.)

Chronopolis, sort of.  (Being a writer, plot inconsistencies tend to bug me, but emotionally it still strikes a great chord.)

Leena.  (A woefully underdeveloped character, but the "sweet country gal" has surprisingly high and balanced stats.  I almost always have her in the active party whenever she's available.)

I can't agree with you more.
I can even smell the hot weather there.

First of all, let em thank everyone for the feedback. Your input has most definitely been noted, and will help greatly. So, in return, let me clarify a few things:

1. The "tribute" is actually going to be a spin off of the Chrono Cross game. While it will not necessarily abide by what happened in Chrono Trigger, the details from this website and from the Chrono Cross game will be taken into account to make the game. The story will follow the Legend of the Frozen Flame, which will be the title of the game, and the main character will be Serge's great-great-great grandfather. While everyone may not agree with the story and the ultimate ending of the game, it will (hopefully) be a very interesting perspective on how things came together.

2. A note on Project Zero: this will be our very first game. While it will not be the first idea we have had for a game, this will (again, hopefully) be the first game ever fully produced. This brings me to my third note:

3. All of the Project Zero team are high schoolers. So, I pose this question to you: Can you put your trust in a group of high schoolers to make the next Chrono game? We are some of the most talented kids you will ever meet, with an award winning artist, and a positively kick a** musical director. As for me, I've got hundreds of ideas for this game, and am a very talented and dedicated writer. So please, trust us and help us if you can.

On a side note, we may have to handle some legalities with square enix, so, if anyone is good with copyright law, it would be greatly appreciated if you could contact us and lend a hand.

One final thing: if we are going to make this, we need to find out if people want it. So, go out to your other forums and see if people want another Chrono game. Thank you all for listening.

Music and artistic direction. I've always loved Seiken Densetsu 3's colors, and it seems CC inherited from it.
